The Spector Rebop is still a hidden gem which is bad for the instrument manufacturer, but great for us bass buyers, because you'll get a pretty good second hand Rebop far more cheaper than other second hand basses in the same price segment (in Germany ~€1100 to ~€1500). I got one second hand 4-string for €600 (plus ~€200 for adjustments by a luthier) instead of €1200 some 8 years ago and am still very happy about it!
I've got that red one behind them but in a matte finish, not gloss. Plays beautifully, but I love this Rebop so much.
Man, remember like a million years ago in the 80's when almost every bass player out there was playing a Spector. Think the ones that weren't were playing Steinbergers. Ah, the 80's. Maybe it just feels like a million years ago.
Looks like a really comfy bass to play, dude knows his stuff.
Max Mees They really are: I have 6 Spector Basses from their “ReBop” line (I prefer the Bolt-On Neck design and the Flame Maple/Zebrawood-on-Alder wood choices compared to the Neck-Through Figured Maple/Walnut/Alder “EuroLX” line) and my 5-string “ReBop 5 DLX EX” with Nordy “Big Singles” & Aguilar “OBP-3SK/PP” Preamp is my “Go-To Bass”. After picking up a “Sterling By Music Man Ray35QM” a few months ago and really getting “The Stingray Sound” under my fingers, I want to pick up a “ReBop 5 MM” to have that Tone in the Spector concave body and tighter string-spacing.

Session Music has some Spector basses. they are located in Frankfurt.
that bass looks awesome...
its worth noting that the pickup also functions like a musicman 5 string stingray. The volume knob is push pull pot splitting the coils, how could Stuart "Santa" Spector forget?
marvellous...
no better sounding EQ bass for slap than the Spectors.. I've got Fender Custom Shop, EBMM, Gibson and Warwick... all great in their own way, but my favorite bass is my NS4 .. truly a handmade master piece.
Grandpa wasn't angry at all in this video.
That red bass in the back looks nice!
I would actually love to ask Mr. Spector why the Tonepump circuit never has a mids control. It's always confuzzled me something fierce.
Tried to come up with a joke about how much this guy looks like Santa Claus. Couldn't come up with anything. Damnit.
Should have bought one of these when I had a chance. 2013 > 2020
I'm new to bass and really interested in Spector. What makes you feel the 2013s were better?
@@krogwaugh Sorry, I was actually making an indirect COVID joke by saying 2013 was better than 2020. Spector basses are always the best. I would highly recommend. 2013 was when you could get a Spector Rebop 5 MM, and I wish I got one at the time.
@@krogwaugh Spector stopped building the "Rebop" model in 2019 and replaced it with the Spector Bolt. Although they are both bolt on neck basses and both have the NS body style, there is quite a bit of differences as well. It's all about preference.
You could always find one on the used market, of course.
Who/where is the distributor in Germany? I couldn't figure it out..
The basses are made by Elves
Might be a bizarre question but what's the string spacing on the bridge?
+miguelr246 STRING SPACING AT BRIDGE: .66" :-D
Sandberg is best
Why is spector known as a “metal bass” brand?
Don't know, but it is also a very great bass for funk and soul music. I recall that Cameo's bassist and Prince had a Spector NS bass in the 80s.
"you can really hear the fundamental of the note as well as the overtones"
Is it just me or was that B string mostly overtones. (listening through studio monitors).
Maybe it's the miking? Or maybe he's just telling us what to hear.
I think its that dinky amp dude 👍
didn't know santa clause could play bass
so... santa is really into bass thing ha?
I don't like the slap tone of the sandberg and all the sanbergs have the same tone
spector is way better
Sounds very high middy and plasticy. Rather have a Warwick.
yeah well... not this one :D
😂
