Hey Adam - just watched the whole series - best guitar building course I’ve seen! Maybe because you are not a pro luthier (although you might be after a couple more builds!) you made the demonstrations and explanations much more relatable and valuable to amateurs like me. Really impressive process and attention to detail. Thanks so much!
I absolutly loved your serie ! Very down to earth, modest and well put together. You made it look like something very humanly duable to go through this very complex build process. I feel super inspired and will try to build my own because of you (no hard feelings if it dosen’t go as well as yours off course lol). Thank you for your work👌
That guitar is boomy ! Sounds great. I think I'm going with the Bolt on neck on my second guitar. I hand cut the Mortise and Tenon on my first. Had to do lots of fiddling around with it. Had the thing playing decent. Decided the fret board was a little too narrow. So I widened it and ended up radiusing it too much. So now I've leveled it with Polyester resin and ordered a 20' sanding block so we'll see if i can save it lol.
I prefer the neck angle slightly back, like you built it. Better action means more precise entonation. Most acoustic guitars have a high action to cover poor neck building ( twist and warp) and crappy fret work. That guitar has a beautiful sound and sustain ! Perfect build to me ! Thanks for the video!
Hey Adam - Great job. I watched the series and was most impressed considering it was your 1st guitar. Not many people would choose Ziracote for their 1st one so well done for getting through it. I'm sure your good friend also advised that you go for a mortice and tenon neck joint in future and although you got away with the butt joint making a jig to cut the M&T is not difficult and will give you so much more rigidity. As the wood moves with atmospheric conditions that neck joint needs all the help it can get. My 1st build used a traditional dovetail and worked just fine but does make more work if you need a neck reset down the road. Bolt on necks make so much more sense and I honesty cannot tell any difference in the sound from a glued joint. I've also tried many different methods of fretting and now I fret the board before I fit it to the neck. This allows me to use my shop made press and seats the frets so consistently that I have very little work to do on them in the final set up and saves all that stress on the neck and top. Keep up the great work but I warn you it gets contageous.
A mortise and tenon isn’t going to solve the neck angle issue, that is totally dependent on the mating surface between the neck and body. A tenon actually complicates adjusting the angle. Great job on the guitar. Hope there’s a second build!
Thanks for cataloging your use of an oil based finish. I've built 5 acoustics and used a nitro spray in a booth at the shop I learned at; now finishing up three more in my own shop and I hated the idea of building and using a spray booth with toxic chemicals. You've really empowered me to step away from the notion that the only finish worth having is a NC finish - thanks again!
Such a incredible series, you killed it Brotha! It’s very refreshing to hear how humble you are and giving props where they are due SFCD acoustic guitar is now definitely on my bucket list 🤙
Wow great tone on that thing! Blackbird is my go to warm up as well, haha. I've watched the series from the beginning and want to say thank you for putting so much time and effort into it. I just finished my first kit build and plan on tackling a build like this next, so I'll be coming back to this series. Honestly, they're very relaxing and interesting to watch, even when I'm not building something alongside. Cheers and thanks again!
Phil Walker thanks man I appreciate that! Haha blackbird is pretty much the only song I know... I have to get better at guitar I’m just too impatient... thank you for the feedback though. I spend so much time on these dang videos I’m glad that somebody enjoys them! Good luck w your next build!
I really really REALLY enjoyed this series. I watched it all over the course of a day and it was very easy to take in and understand. About the neck, and I know this is an older series from about 4 years ago, but since you did a butt joint and the threaded inserts, would it maybe be worth a look into shimming the neck a little bit so your saddle doesn't have to sit so high? all in all loved this series!
Serious question here.. In the future would you consider making another guitar for sale? I'd love to get in contact with you as im looking to get a guitar built in the near future and with how beautiful looking and sounding this is i feel it would give me an opportunity to have a truly one of a kind masterfully created instrument. If possible, do let me know!
man been following this series since you started it and would get excited when i seen a new video drop haha guitar came out so damn well, that tone is unreal!, cant wait to see what else you do on this channel man its one of my favorites
Terrific job Adam! You should be very proud of that guitar. The guitar sounds really nice & I love how you ended with "Blackbird". Enjoy it pal, you deserve it after all of the hard work...................... :)
That turned out awesome! I built a Les Paul a few years ago and put a little too much angle on the neck joint so I ended up cranking the bridge adjustment all the way out and making some special pickup bezels to compensate for it. Probably you'd never notice unless you knew what to look for but it always bugs the builder. ;) Anyway that acoustic is gorgeous and I love that upper end tone. Very snappy sounding. You've inspired me to start building one too! Thanks!
Thank you Adam I am really envy to be a guy doing stuff like you. I watched the whole series of your videos. The beautiful guitar you made makes jaw dropping warm and sweet tones. Splendid!!!
In regards to the angle of your neck joint I don't know if you are aware that if you attach the neck and it is straight with the frets installed. You take a straight edge and place it on the fretboard and run it to the bridge. It should just meet the top of the bridge. If you know this already just ignore this. The guitar is beautiful!
Here's this guy who built an entire gorgeous guitar who's not comfortable filing nuts and adjusting saddles, while I'm exactly the other way around. It's way easier and less risky to work on those precision things! But yeah I'm not a woodworker, I wish.
Fantastic series and spectacular results. Thank you for sharing this process! One question I had is, why not install the frets before attaching the neck? Hammering in those last few over the body of the guitar looked terrifying.
I have enjoyed the whole series. Really great work, it has inspired me to try making an acoustic at some point. I need to build some jugs and get a bandsaw
Slightly high saddle is better than one too low. Over time, as all guitars do, the action will rise, and you'll have lots of room to lower it without a reset.
Man , what can I say .... pffff, I mean just thanks for sharing this , I'm watching it during quarantine and it's the best and most entertaining series I've seen so far , and one of the nicest things ive watched in my life . Thank you sir , both your first and this second guitar are beautiful, and both sound great .
buddy God bless you... what a great art.. keep it up and get more success... best of luck.. i subscribed you channel and I'll wait for your next videos.. hope next videos will be amazing.. show your art and let the world know about it... thanks for your guidance. hope I'll be successful to make my own guitar too... i saw whole series of guitar making.. thanks a lot...
I think the hardest parts were understanding the complex stuff like radiusing the sides and neck joint stuff without someone helping me in person. Some of that stuff is really hard to understand just by reading. Thanks and good luck w yours!
Still a great job. Practice makes perfect, or closer to it. It is a priceless guitar because you made it. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this series - thank you so much for putting all that hard work into documenting the process. Definitely inspired! 🎸⚡️🎸

Thanks Alex!
Possibly the most beautiful guitar I have ever seen

Great job. I'm making my first guitar, same woods, same 000 size. I only hope the end result sounds as good as yours. Well done.
Looks and sounds great
It sounds as good as it looks!!!
Process can be simplified, you can forgo binding, use a bolt on neck and use a simple bracing pattern like carbon lattice

I came from Junior Silvera's Channel.
What was the hardest part to get right and could you summarize some lessons learned that you got out of building this?
I think the hardest parts were understanding the complex stuff like radiusing the sides and neck joint stuff without someone helping me in person. Some of that stuff is really hard to understand just by reading. Thanks and good luck w yours!
Good job . I don't have the money to buy me a regular guitar. I would love to .
