Nice repair ! , but if heavy vehicles are going to use that driveway , it will fail at some point again . I understand you did the very best with what you had to work with at the time but the owner will have to invest in a decent retaining wall unless that is only used for really light traffic .
Thanks, they're older and have 2 small cars. I did share that same point with the home owner but he said it's been railroad ties for 20 years so he didn't have any desire in changing. But I agree a proper retaining wall would prevent all the settling cracks in the asphalt. Thanks for watching !

Quik joint asphalt tape. We have a local asphalt store but I'm sure you can order it online
