Thank you so much! This is the best tutorial I have found! I don't have time for lessons so I practice on my own and I really wanted better technique and strength and corrections for my mistakes! Hope to see more videos❤😊
You have so many helpful ideas! You should have ten times the views! I plan to watch this multiple times as someone who got bad habits in the left hand and am now starting again fresh after a 20 year break. I really appreciate what you have worked out and presented in such a simple way.
Thank you so much for your kind comment! I m very pleased they are helping people! And well done coming back to playing after 20 years! Good luck and all the best 🙏🏻
Thank you for the very helpful exercises. I found it quite difficult in the second tapping exercise to turn the forearm from the elbow. It seems to be coming from the wrist. I must be doing something wrong…
The pain might appear and speed of the fingers will be reduced. Fingers must run when playing fast and it’s hard to achieve if something is holding them. Therefore first - standing and falling freely on the fingerboard (almost like slapping) then they’re ready for run. 🏃
Actually different people , different position. You can check it by - quickly clench and unclench your fists few times and watch where the thumb stays (above middle finger, in between of index and middle, or above index - that’s natural position of your thumb. And keep same position under fingerboard , depending where it stoped - 1, 1and2 or 2nd 👌
That works perfect as well. I remember G.Sollima was talking about him starting in 4th position when he started cello. As distances are more narrow and you can see your left hand perfectly 👍the only things with that - if strings are too hight (hard to press) if might cause tension and pain in left hand by pressing and squeezing with thumb. Strings are still lower in 1st position. Anyway there always some pro and cons. Try to find best way for yourself 🙏🏻✨
@@cellotutorials3347 Thank you, understood. But what about the pitch? There is a big difference between the pitch of the open string and that of the 4th position.
@ yes that’s right and good thing about the proper music schools establishments they have a Solfeggio lessons which helps a lot to develop pitch also all string players are learning piano as a second instrument. So I would say it’s more holistic approach covering not only playing cello. Most students in Uk and Us systems where they follow ABRSM syllabus not quite effective, as aural training they suggest is quite limited 😞 if you can cooperate with someone who could teach Solfeggio that would be the best solution ✨
Brilliant for an old newbie, without teacher, thank you!!! Best exercise video on this topic

Very help tutorial, so the sound quality will be different if thumb squeeze the neck?

what is to be acheived by putting the thumb under the second finger?

How about the open strings when starting with the fourth position?
That works perfect as well. I remember G.Sollima was talking about him starting in 4th position when he started cello.
