    This is very useful, even if we have played cello for while. We often forget these basic rules and sometimes don't understand what is going so wrong. I have a friend who says that the way we touch the cello with the left thumb on the neck should be like holding a strawberry; you want to touch it but not to squeeze it. I always remember that because of this comparison. Thanks for this video, surely is very helpful!

    How tight is your thumb holding? My thumb always gets tired.

      You shouldn't be pressing your thumb against the neck, it should really just be resting there. It's natural to want to grip the neck with the thumb, but every teacher I've seen stresses a relaxed hold and not a grip.
