Terrific job Jim! Best of luck in the competition. You can not beat having a good workshop and a hobby, it keeps one sharp and active. Typical March weather here, I can't wait for the ice and snow to be gone and to hear the songbirds again. I'll put out the wren and bluebird houses in April.

Tile-cutting round ceramic blade mounted in hacksaw frame works well to cut nock. I find it follows triangle file groove more consistently than the 2 hacksaw blades But, yes, I too use triangle file to create groove in center of shaft as its easy to adjust if ya don't get it located accurately on 1st try. I use just a stroke or2 with triangle file until am sure have groove right where I want it.

Wonderful to watch! So relaxing and it shows clearly that you know, what you do. What I like most is the "old style" craftsmanship, using affordable tolls most people have in their garage anyway. The result speaks for itself: great job! So I raise my glass and send you all the best from good ol' germany, where you also have a new big fan now. Cheers or Prost!

What do you call the rubber block to help hold the wooden arrow?

The one I use is actually a golf club gripper for making repairs BUT, you should be able to use an arrow puller, basically made the same, available from Three Rivers Archery or other traditional archer supplier.

Use a rod saw blade. Its round so makes a cleaner nock

I cannot believe why some go to all the trouble of making wood arrows and then put plastic nocks on them learn how to cut and file nocks on the shaft they are so much better

Because if a Plastic Nock breaks, you don't need to cut the Arrow. Also you can literally make your own Plastic Nocks the same way you make Self-Nocks.
