5 years ago i started watercolor painting and the first channel i subcribe was yours …. I learn so much I used to paint almost every day and I got better and better each time. Unfortunately I gone through a bad depression and I stop drawing and paint and do all those things that I love but i’m here again trying to learn what I used to know already but for some reason, I forgot everything I learned and one more time I’m on your channel again thank you so much for making my days better

Stay with girl. I fight depression as well. Painting makes it go away.

What I appreciate is your constant emphasis on having fun …. Most of us will not be in the gallery, but all of us can enjoy painting

I saw a quote from Andy Warhol that goes like this: just paint, leave it to others to decide if it’s any good, and while they are making up their minds, paint some more

Your channel is the only one I keep comming back to. I started watercolor painting about a year ago. After a while I got frustrated and stopped. I felt like I couldnt improve and I had no ideas either. I didnt know the technics you need to get the hang of it and I also was very impatient. I found your channel amongst many others and I had this WOW experience about spontanious painting. I took out my brushes and started. You made me paint almost every day now, even late at night after a long and hard day of work, just by the inspiration you give me. My pictures dont look like yours of course but I am pleased with the learning results. I get to know the pigments and what they do, depending on how I use them. I want to say thank you for sharing your knowledge and your exerience and letting me learn.... Dankeschön from Germany!!!

This is a wonderful demonstration of a process that’s rather mysterious. It’s like opening a box with no idea what’s in it. Thank you. Your style is fascinating.

LOL no matter how often you tell us that you don't plan this......I know for a fact that after your first laying in of color you "wiggle" your nose and create a masterpiece.........I had to look at this one again.......and will most likely watch this "magic" again....thank you so much!

No matter how many times I've watched you do this, it's still remarkable to me how beautiful the works come out. I've tried it a couple of times, and blew it totally. You said something in this one that struck me. I don't think I'm looking at them long enough, or been as patient as I need to be. Also, I really appreciated it when you in one of your posts "Embrace your failures," I found that hugely useful. Thanks a lot Steve.

Yes, I really like this after two… I think I overworked the second and my sketcbook paper doesn’tmake the thready runs. But I like looking at the second one and coming back to it, kind of doodling patiently. But yes, learning and experimenting.

    Aww! "Visual library"
I was looking for something similar for so long, in my mind, to phrase it.
I don't like to google up images to have a reference (until it is neccessary for details, colours (animals for example)).
    A visual library. Thank you!

I am absolutely amazed at what you have just achieved using just 3 colours and some masking fluid, I don't know how you have "seen" all the rocks etc., I have a lot to learn and a lot of practice to do, I shall never achieve what you have in this painting. It is absolutely beautiful, thank you for sharing with us.

Whilst I enjoy your videos and know you are a generous artist and tutor, I found that (as a beginner) I am nervous about this type of painting. Although I am fairly new to water coloring of any kind, I thought that, at least, the first part of this painting could be managed. But then you continued with such a fine brush I knew I wouldn't be able to paint like that. I wonder if you have any videos where you start like this, but then do more loose follow-up with fewer tiny brushes and fine detail - at least to start. Your painting is beautiful, and I am under no illusions that I can complete a painting anything like this one, but I would like to try, and not be discouraged from the start. Thank you

This is so inspiring that I got up and got my paper masked. A lightbulb went off in my head when you mentioned putting in the details and looking at areas of contrast to help guide the finishing process. The powers of observation is key. Can't wait to get my painting started.

I am so happy to see this! I am determined to stop watching and actually try this! I love cobalt teal! There is something about a bit of it peeking through darks or other areas that just brightens my day! I am thinking that finding things in this kind of texture is like seeing things in clouds, paint texture, a wet washcloth and other mundane things. I've been sketching them! LOL!. I was testing out a new brush the other day - a Princeton Aqua Elite long round - by swiping it across the paper, back and forth. The next day I was amazed how many boats had appeared, from rowboats, speedboats to something long and low from the African Queen!

Thank you Steve! I’m experimenting with these more and more. I love the process. It gets better as one does them more. One other thing I’d suggest is working on them small to start with, for example doing bookmarks. Working small helps me to focus better on the details. Spontaneous painting is truly magical. One of many things I absolutely love about watercolor. It’s the most rewarding medium ever. Blessings to you and everyone!
