A Desert..hot rod..Mr gene winfield...and Boneville...this is a really fucking amazing dream......is a great day for hot rod culture...Good Job Mackey's
I remember reading Hot Rod magazines while in school with Gene's cars featured. I am 72 now and he is still going strong and looking good. He has inspired many
Gene is truly one of finest gentleman ever! Very cool video that's spot on. It's not fiction. Like the Beach Boys song lyrics, "Gene gets around." He's loved by the ladies and he loves them. No body has built so many amazing cars. He is an international treasure. Thank you for showing such wonderful TH-cam video that's only 3 minutes long. This is a great flip side to the God awful wars and many problems we face. Viva Gene Winfield and Mackey's Hot Rod Shop. Please post another soon. Car guy Blaine Halley Santa Cruz, CA 😎
Gene Winfield you da' man. I was fortunate enough to meet and hang out with you, George Barris, Bill Hines and other hot rod legends back in 08 at your Mojave compound there. Total Respect.. you've earned it!
We met gene when he came over to England. He was doing a roof chop and his energy was superb never stopped. And at night would walk around the show and go to the wall of death. I got a superb photo of gene with my grandson Liam. And jene actually told Liam he was cool! A life time memory Liam or I will ever forget. Sadly he went and broke his hip after . But thankfully made a full recovery. Love you jene you are a true legend!
Gene is now threatening to not keep it under 100! 20-odd years ago I took Gene on a little drive out to Montello one night after we were done racing for the day & picked up a desert fresh T coupe I'd known about for some time. When we got back to Wendover late that night we stuck it in the back of Al Teague's truck to surprise him in the morning. That became the recreation of Gene's "Thing" comp coupe.
As i drove into the Kumu car show a few years back in my new build 30 A, Roadster Gene had a stall on the edge of the drive way, he stopped me and said he had never seen windscreen posts done like that he thought it was great what a man
I had the honor of meeting him in Pittsburgh at the 2018 world of wheels show. I didn’t even know that he was going to be there. Freakin Daisy Duke and Luke Duke were there and were all the rage. Gene was way over on the other side standing beside a summit roof chop booth. He was super nice!! Let me take pics with him, signed autographs and even gave me a poster. He’s such a nice guy in real life, god bless you Gene!!
Awesome clip loved it!! Me & my wife got to meet Gene the Legend Custom builder in Ventura National hit a picture with him bought some cool shirts a few other stuff. He one great man. Keep it going Gene Windfield ☝🏽❤️🙏🏽
I had a conversation with him at Salina in the last 10 years. I commented how he was more famous than when he was young. He smiled and said it was wonderful. A few years ago I saw him after he broke his hip and age was catching up with him. Truly a remarkable life story. :)
Absolute Legend!! He painted my dads 1950 Oldsmobile back in the early 60’s in Modesto California and to this day Modesto’s Hot Rod Culture is Thankful for all he has Done🏁🏁🏁
I met Gene at Autorama last year got a picture with him that alone was worth the ride to Joe Louis, by the time we got there though Henry Winkler had left the building folks 🤓
I had the pleasure of meeting him back in 2015 and a few questions and a handshake later… my metal working skills and knowledge instantly increased. A true legend and we all owe him a Thankyou for his contributions to the custom car industry. He said to me passion keeps us all young dream it and build it my friend.
Been to his place many times over the years. I lived just 25 miles from him and bought three cars from him. I did Lincolns and T-Birds, the last car I bought was a 1969 Lincoln Sedan. Great Guy and Loved to talk! Enjoy the rest of your life Legend!
I'll be 64 this year I saw Gene one time at a car show in Southern California Orange county late 60s. I asked him for a autograph. And he was gracious enough to sign my .049 powerd shoe string model Race plane. Gene told me to open the air intake hole to 1/8 and tune it. It flew faster than a Bat escaping a Ozzy Osbourne concert. Super Nice guy. Your a inspiration to us all Gene. I still have the plane.
