Id love this but it wouldnt last long in our shop where we do 15-35 cars a week, bumpers etc, im sick of tripping and tangling over air hoses and getting them twisted with the other prepper 😂
These M12 prices getting out of hand (including the batteries). It's a good system but that makes you think about other brands. Starting over, I would probably go with Bosch 18V and only for the small stuff (cordless ratchet) with M12. Or maybe Dewalt 18V because this covers everything (I really don't like the yellow color though). On the other hand, the M12 tools are often pretty much identical to the M18 tools - so, still a good deal. And there are no others with something like my M12 soldering iron. Ok, ok - it was just a thought, I'm a DIY guy - I'll buy one as soon there is a good deal.
I’m not an expert. But: the biggest differences between random orbital sanders and retailers are the throw, and the speed. 8mm is a shorter throw polisher. 2000 to 5000 opm is a common range of speeds. 8000 to 12000 opm seems pretty common for sanders. 1.5mm, 3mm, 5mm seem like common orbits. These sanders go down to 3200 which is amazingly low for a sander. My amateur guess is that this is the only sander I’ve seen that will go slow enough to have a chance of working for polishing. I would try using it as a polisher myself but I don’t know what I am doing :)
The slowest speed is 3200 opm. I’ve seen other sanders that don’t go below 8000 or 9000. Or fixed speed that are 12000. The shape of these also seems to match what I see pro automotive people using. If you’re charging the hourly rate that good auto body people charge, paying for a tool that is more comfortable is totally worth it. IMHO.
That built in spindle lock is a first in this type of sander a real good idea
A simple lock button like in other tools would be much better. This looks like they forgot it and added a last minute less-than-ideal solution.
I'm getting one too I've been waiting for this this is like one of the tools that makes the most sense for I have three cars to paint
Im getting one...been looking forward to it since they announced it.
Wonder if they will make a 3 inch version
Nice, I'll have to wait for a sale 😂

Think it will be compatible with some of the hook and loop detailing pads for paint correction? Cooling may be an issue?

If these were $200 bare tool they would probably sell 10x as many. Milwaukee sure is pushing into uber-premium price territory.
these things definitely need there Owen battery plus back ups to work all day
They will go on sale no doubt
Can you use this for wood?
As an auto body worker, air will always be better. I've tried batteries on heavy work, and they died in minutes.
$300 for the bare tool seems pretty high, especially since I got my 12v Bosch for $70.
So, for us ignorant people, what makes these automotive sanders vs. regular ROS tools use for wood and what-not?
I’m guessing these sanders are more aggressive.

Ill stick to real sanders snap on 6 inches or festool
Thanks
