I quit fighting with my washer and dryer. There is science built-in to assure you clean clothes. I also add an extra rinse because my family have sensitive skin. I also learned that one of those pods is all the product I need. I think the real truck is washing like loads. Keep the whites together. The shirts and dresses together. The pants and denim together. And towels and cleaning cloths together. I also hang dry all shirts and dresses. I managed this raising 4 children. Our clothes look clean and nice. The clothes last longer. They are a big investment and need to be taken care of. My husband and I are both public professionals. It was important that we and our children put our best out at all time. Therefore it was mandatory to take extra care with our clothing. Another hint is that our clothes never hit the floor. I trained my children early to use the hamper and I made sure clean clothes were put away as soon as possible. Love you videos.
I use white vinegar to soften & rinse all my laundry as well as in a spray bottle diluted with water for cleaning. Cheap, natural inexpensive & bonus also keeps my washer fresh & clean. Best tip for washer maintenance is to take out dispenser & leave door open between washes so everything dries out well.
I love the consumerism goal! I'm going to do that too! I also feel you on not putting away the coloring stuff. I do the same. You have such a sweet husband to take care of you and the kids :)
Kids messes are great!! It’s their home and one day all that will be gone and we will miss it… love having my boy’s stuff around the home. Toys, books, colouring in…. Etc. no need to explain or apologise, enjoy this phase of life 🥰 x
I always use dawn dish soap for stains! My husband is a mechanic and there’s always grease everywhere 😂 we also never buy anything light coloured anymore either. Cause he just needs to look for a stain to form! 😂😂
I used to hate changing my duvet covers. I recently discovered Coverless duvets … omg so much easier , just throw the whole thing in the wash and then the dryer.
So Bosch is a German brand so cycles are a little longer than most washers. Also Bosch washers have sensors on them that detect the level of dirtiness of the clothes. It’s really important for the captors to work properly to clean regularly the washing machine and use hi temperature cycles as well. The washer senses the level of dirtiness to provide better cleaning but maybe the washer being dirty add more time than needed. Here in Europe I have a Bosch washer and it takes like 3h for a normal wash so you don’t have to worry about the time being a little long. In Europe washers take more time because it heats up the water slowly to reduce the electrical consumption :)
Catherine your home is beautiful!, in a few short years you have managed to do so much! The bathroom, basement, living room, kitchen! WOW! It looks so much more spacious I know you mention how small the rooms are but you have done an amazing job with the space. As always I love your videos and am on board for the less consumerism approach! We all can take a step back and spent our money better. We all have too much stuff that doesn't serve a purpose other than to clutter up your space. I can't wait to see what you have in store for 2024! Happy New Year!
Heavy Duty is everything like comforters, jeans, towels, duvets, area rugs, ANYTHING HEAVY vs. lightweight and delicate clothes, or medium weight clothes
For the washer issues - I use tide washer cleaner once a month. Since you are doing for the first time , maybe a couple of times I’d do that. Then I would recommend using bulky or heavy duty cycle for bedding. I think your wash timer could be due to using too much soap. You really only need like half what they recommend. I would use the first line in Tide measuring lid.
The consumerism goal is such a great idea. I’m gonna try it too! I have a front load washer & i won’t get another one. So I’m here for answers on how to clean that beast!
Hi Catherine. I really enjoy your videos and the like your ideas on here w to do things in small spaces. I want to share some ideas with you to help with stains. Vinegar can be a great stain remover as well as original Dawn Soap. I have used both of them and had luck. A couple more that can work well. Club Soda will work on a lot of stain but not always helpful if it is flat. Another thing that can work is an item called Messy Eaters. It is a spray and I know it works pretty well. One of my little nieces has to have a lot of things pre treated and it does work well. I know you can get it from Amazon and I believe Target and Walmat both have it. I don’t know if it is in the stores but you could get it in line. I hope these ideas will help get the stains you were trying to get out of Sutton’s sheet. I will be looking forward to your new videos in the new year. I hope you all stay healthy and that the holidays were good for you. Brigid. S
Really enjoyed this video- my place got its much needed clean today. My new year goal is to have a little less coffee and more camomile tea. Happy new year ❤
The issue with the washer is it being unbalanced which happens a lot when washing sheets. That’s why the time is long and the loads stays wet. It’s definitely not the soap.
FG or the wadher, i have noticed when i have heavy things in it it continuously goes through the rinse and dpin cycle. Vi have to watch snd swith to dpin only after to the initial rinse/spin cycle.
Yea ma’am!!!! I like how you said “fight back against consumerism”! I feel that is a GREAT resolution to have. I’m going to steal that one for myself!! 😁
The heavy duty cycle is for your duvgae covers and comforter once you put those in the machine it automatically change to the heavy duty cycle . Or clothes like jeans and heavy jacket
The dawn power spray is great for pre treating stains. I use it all the time. I do like to scrub it in and set a few minutes before washing. Great video.
I don't have a Bosch but on my Whirlpool (top load) the Heavy Duty setting is for heavier items like jeans and blankets. It allows the machine sensors to adjust for the weight of items once the machine has filled with water. I loved your video, and I hope you had a Merry Christmas.
Regarding your washer: My father has a Samsung and it does the same thing. We discovered there was a problem with the spin cycle and had to have a technician repair it (pricey) because it would start the whole wash cycle over if it got out of balance during the spin cycle and 90% of the time, it wouldn’t alert us via an alarm or error code that the problem was occurring. I know how frustrating it is. My father is 91-years old and I spend a lot of time at his house doing household chores for him.
Hi Catherine, ever year I do the “losing weight thing”…never works or lasts😂, but I’m gonna try again, and definitely have been buying a lot less all year and getting rid of tons of nonsense, it feels great, good luck on your journeys, you look great. 😊❤ Happy New Year 🎉
I just rid my home by 2 large bags of clothes, purses & shoes. I also cleared 4 boxes of houseware goods that I no longer use or that was just being stored in my closets. Great feeling!
Can you do a video on what you did to achieve your weightloss success so far????? I am also on a weight loss journey and would love some success stories ❤
You should check out Dave Ramsey. He shows how and it’s totally free but you can pay for more obviously but I never have and I’m achieving financial goals.
Oh oh...I just couldn't fight it I had to go and pickup those microfiber kitchen towels! But really...I think the older you get the better you get at not buying everything. Why don't you get a cute basket at Dollar Tree for the coloring items. I am old school when it comes to washers and dryers the less settings to pick from the better! You shouldn't have to a degree from MIT to run your washing machine! 💕 your videos!
Hi Catherine! I hope you had a lovely Christmas! I noticed that my washing machine will add time when the load is too heavy or if the drum gets off centered. I wonder if it is similar with your dryer or if it has a sensor in there if the items are still wet. Hope it gets resolved soon!
2tbsp of hydrenproxide dawn powerwash detergant 1tbsp baking soda make into paste apply to stain let set at least 30 min to 1 hr and wash on cold with regular detergent
The best stain remover for me is the blue dawn and letting it sit on the wet material followed by hydrogen peroxide to help lift the stain out. Scrub it and then wash right away! I have gotten mystard and ranch stains out as well ws numerous other strains!
Hi Catherine, I’d recommend you try cleaning the filters on the washing machine. The filter on the water inlet pipe and filter on the drain. They do get clogged. Hope it helps. 😊
As for your washer, have you cleaned out your filter? Mine was doing the same with the clothes being heavy and full of water and my filter was full of hair and gunk.
To clean the washing machine dont leave wet clothes in there. This is because mould will form in the pipes and the only way you'll get rid of that is by replacing the pipes. Your clothes can't be clean if the water that rinses them comes through mouldy pipes. You'll know if this is occurring because your clothes will smell of mould regardless of what you do. Aside from not leaving wet clothes in the machine, if you wash your towels and bedding on 60 or 90 degrees, which you should for hygiene reasons, the machine will be cleaning itself of bacteria during that wash because over 60°C kills them. The other issue is to use powder because liquid detergent goops up your machine coating it with a layer of gunk that builds up over time. Same with fabric conditioner, its bad for washing machines. If you've been using these products, run a 90°C wash with powder in the dosing drawer and the machine empty, that should cure it.
All washing machines are a little different. However, overloading the machine can affect the spin - the 'heavy duty' option might be what you should pick. Also, you mentioned you have not cleaned the inside: have you cleaned the filter, as this can prevent water draining properly? The best option of all is to look at the instruction manual. If you dont have a paper copy, you can find them online. PS nice to see you leaving the childrens' artwork out: better to encourage their creativity than clear it away. Their art is beautifully, not clutter.
We’ve tried that layout and it’s so cramped on either side that we were constantly stubbing our toes or walking into things to go to the bathroom in the night. It also made making the bed a nightmare 😞
Hubby wouldn’t get ańy washing done if he didn’t put it in the basket, have you tried ironing your bedding at all no way would I put that bedding on my beds
Bosch washing machines are horrible, they cost 💲 is outrageous & not worth it! LG & HE are way more affordable to replace or repair! They last over 10 years!

Maybe you don’t have enough weight in the washer when you wash clothes.
I love the consumerism goal! I'm going to do that too! I also feel you on not putting away the coloring stuff. I do the same. You have such a sweet husband to take care of you and the kids :)
Yay!! I think that’s a great goal 🤗

Amazing motivation as usual!!!!

My washer has a self clean cycle. I use it once a month. Also once a month I use the Affresh washing machine cleaner. 🤗
Yes! I’m trying to not fall into consumerism this year as well. It’s just so toxic 😅

Try cleaning the filter of the washing machine down front so it spins more water
I recommend Zout for stains…can’t speak for any specific type but know it gets a lot of stains out like grass on the knees of jeans.
Loved this video. Your house is so cute.
Heavy duty is for jeans, towels, or heavily soiled items, or sheets, it gives them a really good spin to remove excess water.
Have a great New year......looking forward to your wonderful videos in the following months!!!
The issue with the washer is it being unbalanced which happens a lot when washing sheets. That’s why the time is long and the loads stays wet. It’s definitely not the soap.

Let’s do it!! 💪🏻
I've just found your channel. I'm saving like mad this year. I got obsessed with on line shopping. Time to stop!! Love your organisation ideas.
i would use the heavy duty option for your duvet. i use it on my whirpool for bedding like that.
Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year, God’s bless you and your family, thank you for the motivation videos

Try washing the sheet again. Then, drying it outside where the sun hits it. The sun is good at removing stains.
We are in the same phase of life and I “reset” my kitchen table once a day, otherwise I would get nothing else done. 😅
Hi Catherine, ever year I do the “losing weight thing”…never works or lasts😂, but I’m gonna try again, and definitely have been buying a lot less all year and getting rid of tons of nonsense, it feels great, good luck on your journeys, you look great. 😊❤ Happy New Year 🎉

lol about the ice cream! I believed you for a second 😂 I use the brand “Affresh” tablets - just put in washer and run a cycle!
Another brilliant video and lots of good advice. Lots of blessings and prayers for you all. Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all.
Can you do a video on what you did to achieve your weightloss success so far????? I am also on a weight loss journey and would love some success stories ❤
Girl I’m with you on the consumerism goal! I don’t want to spend money on things I don’t need and pay off credit cards! 😩

Me too I love ice cream, I eat almost a small dish every night 👍🏼❤️😉🇨🇦
Google the owners manual for your washer! It should show you how to clean it! 😊 I REALLY needed the motivation. Thanks girl!!❤
Also make sure the hose for the dryer and all the lint is cleaned out for it! I also always put my bigger things on heavy duty!
Wonder if you could dye Sutton’s bedsheet to hide the stain?
Bicarbonate vinegar one of your laundry pods or liquid sock in hot water
Great video, Catherine 👍.
Thank you!!
I use Affresh tabs to clean my washing machine!. Throw it in the machine and run a cycle with hot water. Sometimes I add a little vinegar also!
Ooh I think a friend of mine said she likes those too! I’ll have to try them
Hi Catherine!
There are detergents made specifically to clean your Washing Machine. You run it through a cycle as directed on the package.
Hi, Catherine !!! 👋 Really love this, Great motivation !!!! 🫶👋
Thanks so much! 😊
The best stain remover for me is the blue dawn and letting it sit on the wet material followed by hydrogen peroxide to help lift the stain out. Scrub it and then wash right away! I have gotten mystard and ranch stains out as well ws numerous other strains!
I need to pick up some classic blue dawn!
Catherine, I'm dying to get a tour of your basement. Untapped potential!
Great job! Great motivation!! Hope you had a great Christmas! 😃❤🌲
Thank you!’ I hope you did as well!
Hi Catherine, I’d recommend you try cleaning the filters on the washing machine. The filter on the water inlet pipe and filter on the drain. They do get clogged. Hope it helps. 😊
I am genuinely SCARED to open mine up to clean it 😂😂😂 it’s probably disgusting
@@CatherineElaine 😅I was as well. But it did the trick.😉
As for your washer, have you cleaned out your filter? Mine was doing the same with the clothes being heavy and full of water and my filter was full of hair and gunk.
I haven’t cleaned it 🫣
Hi Catherine! No need to lose anymore weight! You look fantastic! ❤️
Aw thank you!!
To clean the washing machine dont leave wet clothes in there. This is because mould will form in the pipes and the only way you'll get rid of that is by replacing the pipes. I will have to read the directions but I definitely have not cleaned the filter so I need to do that 🫣
Awesome video! Congrats on your weight loss....what is your secret? That is so awesome!
Thank you!! Literally just counting calories! I use the Lose It app to track and just try my best to eat on a deficit. It’s been great!
Your house WAS NOT filthy. It needed a little 'picking up' but it wasn't actually dirty. Be blessed.
I just like to put dramatic thumbnails but I’m aware it could def be worse, the laundry area was filthy though for sure haha
I hate making my bed, especially having to put the duvet cover back on. WHY is it an Olympic sport Forreal lol
Great job getting things done and cleaned. My first goal is to complete the 75hard fitness challenge staring in Jan.
Baking soda and hydrogen peroxide.
I would put your bed under the other window to give you more room and the bed will not block the window.
Why would I take the time to iron bedding that I’m going to sleep in and mess all up anyway? Haha
Bosch washing machines are horrible, they cost 💲 is outrageous & not worth it! LG & HE are way more affordable to replace or repair! They last over 10 years!
Eating in bed? Tsk tsk. Lol.
And that is the reason most husbands don’t help, cause it’s not done like you do it.
Congratulations losing 17 pounds
