Exploring an 1893 Abandoned Silver Mine and Mill Site

Come along with us on our mine explorations adventure as we take you above and underground exploring the historic abandoned Arlington Mine located in the Ruby and Conconully Mining District of Okanogan County WA. Join us as we take you to the historic mine mill site where a ball mill still remains and then underground to explore the expansive historic workings of this abandoned mine.
The Arlington mine was located in 1887 by John Oleson. The Arlington Mining Company was subsequently formed in 1888. As of 1893 1,000 tons of ore had been shipped from the Arlington mine with a value of $25,000. The Arlington mine went idol for about twelve years, when in 1905 operations began again. The Arlington originally consisted of 4500 feet of workings. Today, only the lower Arlington mine adit remains open.
The most active period for the Arlington mine was between 1914 and 1921. The mine remained idle until 1937 when Arlington Mines Inc. was formed. The company erected a 50-ton-perday flotation mill near the portal of the mine's main adit and resumed mining operations. In 1938 and 1939, a total of 5,700 tons of ore that had a net value of $71,683 was concentrated in the mill. Mining and mil ling operations at the Arlington ceased early in 1940, and in 1945, the company was dissolved.
​The abandoned Arlington mine underground workings consist of shafts, drifts, and crosscuts have a total length of around 4,500 feet.
