- Pixie is a Maltese Shih Tzu (I asked mom AFTER I recorded the voice track 🤦♀️) and she has quite a colorful track record with other groomers.
It always makes me feel so good to help a dog who was otherwise considered ungroomable be groomed safely.
She loves you because she senses your patient and kind spirit!

The same principles work for us teachers. It’s amazing how kids are a problem for some teachers and not for others. It’s all about respecting the kid (or dog 😀).

When I first got my dog, I was told he was a shih tzu but then he grew up and started looking different so I figured he was a malshi but here I am, three years later, watching this video and realizing I have no idea what my dog is 💀💀

I love your videos. You have a fantastic way with your doggies. I have a cocker spaniel and wish you were my groomer. Willow loves kisses too so you might not get much work done 😂 but you would have fun 😉

Could you do a video about teddy bear heads/faces that's a good pup to video on? I'm not very good on Teddy bear faces. If I have to beg, I will lol 😆!
No need to beg! I’ll work on that for you this week. Teddy bear heads were a big struggle for me. I am not very good with spacial recognition or seeing shapes so I really had to work at it (and I’m still not perfect!) - find a style you like. For me I started realizing I really like short chins. And I also found not to go too high on the chin (under the neck) because that can take a way from the shape as well.

I love your commentary! You are so humble and honest. We. Own a Malshi and I have taught myself to groom him to save money, but I actually enjoy it. Its also been helpful during Covid lockdowns. He is best to groom when we chill on the steps outside our house as he watches people go by.

What an adorable dog. Your so patient and she can sense it and therefore trusts you. A dog can always sense when someone is kind or is not a threat to them. You have a kind heart and obviously love what you do. Some are in it for the pay check and others are in it for the love of the dogs. Keep doing what your doing because your lovely. There are Asian groomers that can make Yorkies look like poms(really fluffy and not so slick)... I’ve seen them and they’re ADORABLE! Granted it takes more time but it’s possible with the right tools for sure

Those previous groomers have probably been bad to her because she did not stay still or sit a certain way for thier convenience because she is being good for you, who adapts to her neads.
Correct. Sometimes dogs don’t vibe with people. There are dogs that I don’t vibe with - it’s really an interesting phenomenon.
@@melissathegroomer I've been very lucky to work with cats dogs horses donkeys pigs rabbits guinea pigs birds turtles and teripins and more. If an animal likes you they let you know as is the opposite lol There is no such thing as s dumb as in mute/uncommunicative animal. They let you know... people just don't listen.
Would you be interested in being a show level groomer?
I am not detail oriented enough to be a show groomer. I love watching people do show grooms though!

Do you ever have to use muzzles on dogs?
No - we aren’t allowed to muzzle. At another place I worked it was allowed but only on certain aged dogs and certain breeds (no smoosh faces and no old pups). I would rarely use one still.
