I just picked this BE800 up from best buy for $389 on July 11th. I already have TP-link Deco BE63's in my network and funny enough they all work together very well. I know the two different mess technologies are not compatible but by some wizard magic I'm not getting double NAT or a loop and my interference scans come back as "perfect". The only problem I had is if I set the BE800 up as the main router nothing would work so I just use one of the 63s as the main and it worked great. Awesome channel by the way
@@3litepker in the end I purchased 2 be550 routers from Amazon Japan for last than the price of 1 in the UK or just over the same price as 1 in $ they work great
Brother I honestly hope in the future you do add tests with 1 wall and 2 walls obstructing the router and testing the speeds… this will show so many people the exact power of how much strength each one gives out… I honestly hope you do this because a lot of people would love to see these test results.
Just subbed to the Channel and gladly will send you a Tip for helping me with these questions: My current situation is I have a xfinity 2in1 router/modem with the 1000mbps plan but I bought this router to try to upgrade the speed of the internet because it was slow. I put it in bridge mode to connect to the new be800 router but not sure if that was the correct option to get the most speed out of it? - In “WIFI Settings” should the MLO Network be off or on? - On the Tether app in the “Advanced Settings” should the IPVT/VLAN be off or on? - For the “IoT Network” should the 2.4GHz and the 5GHz be turned on my mom has a lot of smart devices that I do not want having access hogging up the higher speeds so I was thinking of turning on the 2.4GHz so she can connect to that only. - Also what Ethernet cord should I be using with my Xbox series X and should it be plugged into the 10g port?
Thanks for subbing! 1. Yes, enable bridge mode on your 2in1 so this archer be800 can be your main router. 2. If you have WiFi 7 devices, it’s typically better for MLO to be on, otherwise doesn’t have to be on. 3. I keep the IPTV/VLAN off because I don’t need that feature. 4. IoT devices don’t take too much bandwidth and most of them connect to the 2.4GHz band anyways. Up to you if you want to keep it 2.4 only, I don’t see an issue with it. 5. XBOX Series X has a gigabit Ethernet port, so it doesn’t matter which port you connect it to on the BE800 since it can’t go faster than gigabit anyways. Hope this helps
Question: Mesh routers groups take a lot of electricity power to operate. Would putting one (120 volt power remote control 3-pack) save you money and unwanted radio radiation?
To save electricity power, you just need to look at the watts used. If one of these takes less wattage than a 3 pack which seems likely, then one would use less power.
Thank you for the video. One more time, you impress me by your knowledge and your professionalism. I don't have the budget to buy a router like Archer BE800 but my Internet speeds are very low. I have 50 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload ; which router in budget I can get to improve my Wi-Fi connection ?
I'm debating to pick this up. I have 1 up 1 down and currently using wifi 5 router with 6e mesh. Wired connection gives me 885 down and 700 up. I'm thinking i get this router, I'll get full 1 up and 1 down and my wireless will jump from 500 down too.
Thanks! If I have xfinity but feel like the internet is still slow after buying this router would it help to buy a new modem to replace my xfinity modem? (Not sure if that’s how it works)
The modem needs to be compatible with Xfinity. The ideal test would be to try connecting a device directly to the xfinity modem (removing the router temporarily) to see if that device is getting the advertised speeds. You also need to make sure the device you're testing with, for example a laptop with ethernet is capable of handling the speeds you are paying for. If you are getting the advertised speeds, then there's not point in changing the modem. Thanks for the super thanks!
For the price for non mesh, I really like the GE800 (not to be confused with BE800) from TP Link. I also really like the Asus 96U and 98. Nighthawk also performed well but gave me an issue with the guest account for some reason.
Is that the gaming tp link router that looks like a star wars ship lol , doesn't appear to be out in the UK till mid august, is the re800 WiFi extender out in the USA yet also? @@landpet
I stopped going to max distance, back when I would it was the asus et12 pro. There are problem some newer WiFi 7 versions that can go further I would imagine. You can check my range tests at 100ft but range will vary by location
real world differences would be minimal between the two off the top of my head. I do plan on making a comparison video with the recent versions of the Archer wifi 7 routers by next month
Piece of JUNK!!! I RMA'd two TP-Link Archer BE800 Wifi 7 because they died. The first one lasted 4 Months, the second one lasted 2 Months. I'm in So California and TP-Link is local (Irvine, CA) so no big deal but Lucky I kept my Trusty ASUS Wifi 6 Router. As we speak the junk pile just got picked up by FedEx and I think I need to go back to ASUS. I have different Routers all over my house and TP-Link is awesome for 95% of the other products I have with them. This New Model Came Out. I had actual STUCK software and locked the router. Now the second one is Eternally Rebooting itself then finally died! It's 2024 and All these companies need to quality test their products better when they charge so much for a BRICK! I might sell this and go back to ASUS. The TP-Link App is just ok, the ASUS App is Gold!!! Btw, I'm an IT Professional so it's NOT the User, Lol!
@@landpet I was expecting better because I have their other TP-Link Wifi 6e Gaming Routers and they are Stellar. These on the other hand turn into paper weights. Sad.

Jesus that is cheap, about half the price of a UK equivalent!

I do that with my mesh testing, it needs to go through a few walls to get to the other node.

As of right now all of my devices which is about 18 things is connected to the 5g band only, should they be more spread out?

This are higher speeds than the BE900 you tested
