  • I Tried Accutane 🙅🏾 Issa No For Me Dawg | Adult Acne Update #2
    I'm back with a LONG overdue acne update. I started taking Accutane (isotretinoin) 2 months ago. The brand I've been taking is called Myorisan. Due to some serious side effects and after consulting with my dermatologist, I decided to stop taking the medication. The next step is to work with my dermatologist to find alternative options to cure my acne.
    The side effects I experienced include:
    ‣ Upset Stomach
    ‣ Cramps
    ‣ Headaches
    ‣ Lower Back Pain
    ‣ Muscle Joint Pain
    ‣ Blurry Vision
    ‣ Dry and Sensitive Eyes
    Again, this video is merely to share my acne journey, not to encourage or discourage anyone from taking accutate or any other acne medications.

    Thank you for sharing this light . Am one months on Accutane and I plan on stopping because my skin has gotten really dark although I wear sunscreen every day . Am having those crazy back and joint pains that make me feel like am 100 years old and am developing crashes on my skin so crew it with the perfect skin, am 37 with 2 children and I have come to a conclusion that my children most come first and not my face . God bless you

      Yea, me too I have cystic acne which is sooo horrible and at times painful b/c I'm a picker. Accutane was the best thing I have ever taken my first round lasted for about 7 years breakout free and del cleanse helped clear up my hyper pigmentation (i miss that stuff), they have stopped making it but i used that after my treatment and any monthly pop ups that looked like a threat del cleanse dried them right up. I did end up going for a second round of accutane and it's going on 5 years now of the good life (no excessive breakouts). The major side effect for me was horribleeeeee lip dryness, but aquaphor helped with that.

    People don’t like black soap but I think it’s because people aren’t using it properly. A spin brush & soap treatment 2-3x/week is best. Cetaphil gel in between. Also, I moisturize with pure Vit E capsules during the cold season, and Clinique undereye moisture cream in the summer. It is very drying but you have to apply it correctly. You should give it another try.

    I'm SO glad I found someone who experienced pretty much the same thing as me. I'm 22 and I've had acne for 10 years. I've done countless things in those 10 years to fight the acne but obviously none of it worked. So I just got on accutane and I'm on my 10th day, but I skipped yesterday and today's dosage because I started experiencing unbelievable body aches/soreness, overall body weakness and some nausea, headaches and dizziness. I basically just felt all around sick like I was coming down with the flu. I'm on 60mg a day (30mg at breakfast and dinner). The body aches started in my chest and abdomen, and like you said, it felt like I was punched. The soreness and weakness were so severe that I could barely move. I couldn't believe how hard the drug was hitting me because I felt completely fine for 8 days. It's still really bad as I'm typing this comment but not as severe as yesterday. So I'm going to talk to my dermatologist today and I imagine I'm going to be put on a lower dosage like you did. Probably from 60 to 30mg since the 30mg pills are what I still have, so now just once a day instead of twice a day. But if it's anything like your experience, it probably won't work and I'll be down to 10mg. I mean if I was able to handle a whopping 60mg for 8 days then 10mg should literally be no problem but I guess I won't know until that happens. So I'll keep yall updated right here if yall are curious to know what happens. I imagine it could be helpful for those who are going through the same thing.
    PS 4:00 those are collarbones lol

    • @Char-kd6bl
      @Char-kd6bl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@ujoining254 I totally forgot to update. It’s a mess so I’ll be back with a long comment explaining everything that happened. Long story short though, I didn’t get aches the 2nd time on accutane but I got strange head and eye symptoms so it doesn’t seem like it’s for me.

    • @Char-kd6bl
      @Char-kd6bl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      HUGE insane update for anyone that cares. It’s a mess so get ready.
      So my dermatologist did put me on 30mg a day like I predicted. Everything went great for 3 weeks. No soreness or muscle aches whatsoever, just the typical nose bleeds, dry chapped lips and dry skin, which is normal. My skin got fairly clear in just 3 weeks. So they moved me back up to 60mg because they insisted that I needed to catch up in order to finish before 8 months (because you can’t be on accutane longer than 8 months). But after 5 days of 60mg I started experiencing something completely different from the aches. I was having extreme head pressure with lightheadedness and haziness/brain fog. Not necessarily headaches, it was a very odd feeling. And it was accompanied with a little bit of vision loss and hard focusing which was scary. Every day I felt like I was going to pass out. And strangely drinking water and being hydrated made the head pressure worse? Have no idea why. I stopped the drug immediately and saw the derm. They said it’s most likely not the drug and something else that’s causing it, however there’s an extremely rare instance where accutane causes brain swelling. They couldn’t determine if the accutane was causing it or maybe my screen time on phones, computers and TVs was causing it. It’s hard for me to imagine that screens were causing it as I’ve never had that problem before. But it’s also hard for me to imagine that I’m one of the extremely rare cases that has brain swelling on accutane. My derm thinks this too because they’ve never had a problem with anyone else. I was apparently their only patient that has ever had problems on accutane. (Not so sure about my derm anymore because I asked them about getting tattoos after accutane and they said I could get tattoos on accutane? Which is known to not be good and scar your skin because your skin is dry. But anyways…) Well my head and eye vision symptoms stopped a month after I stopped the accutane. That was after I lowered my screen time too so it’s still hard to determine. They said they will let me try accutane one more time just to confirm if the accutane caused this. This would be the 3rd time. I told them maybe sometime in the future but I’ve been through so much with this drug already that I needed a break LOL. Plus they want me to see an eye doctor beforehand to see if my eyes were in bad shape and causing the symptoms (which I doubt), and I’m just financially not in the right spot for all of this. It’s just all a mess so I currently give up. But I might try it a 3rd time eventually. It’s been 3 months since I’ve been off of it and my skin is back to the way it was and I’m just struggling with it like I usually do. But I am learning more about my skin. Since I entered my 20s, my acne has only started acting up during the summer and winter, and my skin is completely clear during the spring and fall. So maybe I am growing out of it finally since it’s less frequent and only comes out during extreme conditions. Even though I’m tired of waiting for my skin to “grow up”, I think I still just have to wait a few more years for it to happen. Accutane probably isn’t necessary for me after all.

    • @Char-kd6bl
      @Char-kd6bl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Skiduejrjkfflc Wow as a hypochondriac that always looks up symptoms and disorders, I never read about pseudotumor cerebri and now I'm almost positive that's what it was because it all checks out. Since I've entered my 20s I've had a history of serious physical symptom anxiety (severe chest pains thinking I'm going to have a heart attack, lightheadeness, numbness in arms and legs etc) so my dermatologist was more set on believing it was my anxiety than the accutane causing the head pressure/slight vision loss. And since physical symptom anxiety is so unpredictable and still so hard for me to understand, I absolutely believed it could've been the case. Not saying you have physical symptom anxiety like me but it’s possible so I’m just throwing it out there. Laxatives absolutely mess with your system big time so that may be contributing. Based on what you’re telling me though, it sounds more likely that accutane is giving you pseudotumor cerebri, because it sounds a lot like what I went through. No my dermatologist didn't show genuine concern and I felt like I was being gaslighted as well. It was frustrating. I’m not a doctor so I'm probably not "right" for questioning my derm’s knowledge, but I do question it as she has said very questionable things and seemed to be totally ignorant to bad cases of accutane. When I first told her about the head pressure on my 2nd attempt at accutane, she said straight up "accutane doesn't possibly cause that and has never caused that so it’s something else“ even though there are literally plenty of documented cases where it does... and then when I saw her the next time she changed her tune and said something like "so actually it is possible but very rare" meaning she had to do more research on it which is concerning considering she prescribed accutane to many patients before this not knowing the potential severe life-altering side effects. And again I was floored about what she said concerning tattoos on accutane. She's not my dermatologist anymore though and I switched derms 4 months ago. I should've switched a long time ago as she was never attentive and she was in and out of the room in 2 minutes record speed. It was mainly an office for seniors with skin cancers, not many young acne patients, and they were always overbooked, rushing patients in and out, so she never could actually listen to me properly. It took me awhile to realize that this wasn't normal office behavior. So to update since my last comment, I decided I wasn’t going to do accutane a 3rd time and I didn’t bother seeing an eye doctor like my previous derm told me to since my vision was restored and the head pressure left after stopping accutane. I told my new derm about my accutane experience and they recommended a skincare routine along with one month of seysara (a new form of acne medication that interestingly blocks excess testosterone in the face, by the way yes I’m a guy). I was like “here we go again it’s not going to work but lets try”. 4 months later and my skin hasn’t been this clear in years! My skin actually cleared up in a week and a half which is record time. It’s an insane transformation that I’ve had. 10 years of this nonsense and trying out multiple products so it’s a miracle. I’m mad at myself for not finding this derm sooner. Basically my advice is: please see a new dermatologist! The one you have sounds a lot like my previous one. Make sure to also check reviews online. Let me know where you’re at now I’m curious. Hope my response helped and hope you’re doing well.

    Hey love, so sorry that accutane lowkey played you lol but it gets better! I had severe acne from 9th grade up until 2 years ago and accutane was recommended to me over and over again; but I decided it was too intense for me. Instead, I stopped listening to doctors and youtubers and tried to listen to what my skin wanted. I stopped using black soap which was drying my face out (which made me think it was drying out my pimples smh flawed logic) and switched to the soap and glory vitamin c wash. It is amazing, it smells amazing, it gets my face soooo clean without drying me out, which has drastically reduced how oily my skin gets throughout the day, ergo how clogged my pores get and how much I break out. I threw away all of my harsh exfoliants and exfoliating brushes because 1) they harbor bacteria that can enter your skin and cause more breakouts and 2) they cause more problems than they solve because they cut up your face, which also gives bacteria a portal into your skin. I had 3 goals: to clear my acne, reduce the texture on my face, and get rid of my horrid hyperpigmentation. I started steaming my face twice a week to open my pores, extracting my own pimples/pores with a comedone extractor (do at your own risk because it can cause damage if done incorrectly-it takes a little while to get used to but it is literally my holy grail acne treatment), I add tea tree oil to a MOISTURIZING toner, apply glycolic/lactic acid for the hyperpigmentation and the derma e tea tree and vitamin e cream as a moisturizer. For my texture, I purchased a microdermabrasion tool (the PMD: I think I got it on sale for $75) for at home use, used the coarsest setting (again, not recommended but a girl can only have so much patience)... and girl when I say miracles happened!!! My face is so much less prone to break outs and with the help of glycolic and lactic acid, my scars are almost gone. My skin very very rarely breaks out anymore. AND SHE IS SSOOOOFFFTTTTTT! I hope this is helpful to you

The doctor started me at 40mg one pill a day and the first day I really didn’t feel anything the second day that when it started I started to feel really nauseous all the time, dizziness, and my migraines are getting really bad it does calm down when I take Tylenol but but it comes back as soon as the Tylenol wears off. That sound super scary! I've never used it before, but what really helped me was reducing how much dairy I consumed. I think I actually am a bit lactose intolerant. I used to be one of those people that believed that you HAD to consume dairy to be healthy. But on top of the acne it made my stomach upset and I used to think it was normal. My point is understanding what makes me breakout was major for me vs. trying to get new products. I now use black soap with some natural oils so it's not super drying, an acne serum and a regular moisturizer and toner. It also helps to use a chemical exfoliant from time to time just to clear out that build up in the skin.

    I have had acne for a majority of my life as well. I have been suffering with acne since the 4th grade and I am 23 now. I’ve found a regimen that’s been working for me really well.
    Facial wash
    Vanicream ( sulfate, paraben and dye free)
    Noxema ( wash your face with the Vanicream rinse then apply the noxema and let it sit for five to ten minutes.
    Cream
    My dermatologist prescribed me a cream which is a combination of adapalene (0.1) and benzoyl peroxide(2.5%) .
    When using this cream use it every other night. Than after two weeks use lightly every-night.
    The cream that does work is a water based cream from tarte but my budget doesn’t always permit for it. 😩😭
    Hopefully this helps anyone whose reading it and suffers from severe acne.

    Hey Sis, I’m so sorry Accutane has not worked out for you fully. Fortunately, there are several alternatives available nowadays to help clear up cystic acne issues. I took Accutane 3 times in my life. The first time I tired Accutane ,it was a failure. No serious side effects - it just didn’t calm my cystic acne. We waited awhile and did another round and it worked beautifully. 15 years later I started to breakout and I didn’t hesitate to use Accutane once again. My symptoms both times were super dry lips and soreness of the heels of feet. Standing on my feet first thing in the morning was painful initially. I would have to stand and press my heels down in place until my feet could bare my body weight. Both times there was an emphasis to eat a low fat diet. I lost 5 to 8lbs during my treatments. Had I experienced your side effects, I would have stopped the treatments too. Listen to your body and do what’s best for you. Keeps us updated 😊
