I dont even understand it and I'm not a 70 yr old. How is it different than touch screen? There's no buttons to touch per say, so you'd do a jerking off motion to turn the volume up?
What this says to me is that vw doesn't understand why people buy these cars. Make no mistake, the only reason youd spend $50k on a golf is for the performance. Enthusiasts don't care about the tech as much as the performance.

VW largely had mastered the user interface with Mk7. Android Auto/Car play, traditional three knob HVAC interface, a knob for volume, and buttons for heated/cooled seats.
The Teslafication of the Mk8 ruined an otherwise great car.
As someone who prefers a mechanical analog watch to an apple watch, I wish manufacturers would still offer analog dashes instead of going all digital. I appreciate that more information can be provided with a screen, but it looks tacky in most cases. Current gen Mustang especially guilty

Re: the GR86, oil starvation is the main issue. In high G corners, the oil pick up is not effectively recirculating the oil and overtime wears down the engine. 900BRZ has done extensive research, and the most effective and most simple solution is a larger oil pan with baffling. Verus Engineering is currently finalizing that design, and the prototype has proven to be effective on track.

One of my co-workers had one as a rental during a business trip and the capacitive touch buttons and the built in driving aids drove him so mad the first week he had the car that he went back to the rental car center and had them exchange it for a different car. He’s in his mid 20’s and doesn’t care much about cars, the reason why I bring this up is because he’s in that demographic that probably would be the most tolerant to annoying tech like this. The biggest problem with the S13 Silvia is that it's an S Chassis Nissan. Nissan makes fun cars, not good cars, and the S Chassis were some of the worst in that regard, but also the most fun. They've always been the exception to Japanese reliability, but the cars are fun and you could previously fix them yourself. You know why you don't see them on the road anymore? Because some kid who played Need for Speed begged his parents for a crapbox S Chassis, towed it into their garage so he could fix it and now it's rusting away in there because they're really hard to get running and even harder to keep running, especially if you're not rich. I love Nissan, I LOVE the Silvia, especially the S13, but I know about cars and I'm aware of Nissan's overall reliability and I'm aware of how awful S Chassis's are.

@@braddeicide Everyone has their own preferences. I think the S13 has a good design, but it definitely looks its age, whereas the S15 feels more timeless, but the appeal really depends on what you want out of your car ownership experience. There are certain cars that I love because they feel "of their time". The first generation NSX, the fifth generation Celica, the second generation RX-7, etc. They're all glorious because of and despite the features that date them. What I particularly like about the S15 is how the lights define so much about the style of the vehicle and how the clean design feels like something that rolled off the production line within the past five years instead of the reality, where it rolled off the production line for the last time 22 years ago...

Plus one for Porsche.... walked into my local dealership as a first time Porsche buyer, cash budget of $160-$260k willing to leave 10% cash deposit (This was in 2021) I was told they would take my deposit of only $1,000, no ADM, expect delivery in 2-3 years. A GT or Turbo S no ADM but, 10k procurement fee and 3-4 years expected delivery. The used 2020-2021 cars they had were all 20k-100k above MSRP. Obviously I left without leaving a deposit. I called dealerships all over the country. I either got nearly the same message or was told I could get a 4-6 month delivery date with $30-50k ADM on S/4S, $50-100k ADM on Turbo S and GT cars were $80-150k ADM. I ended up shopping the used market, test driving nearly all available 992s. I ended up buying a used 21 911 C4S (it was exactly the spec I wanted to order) with 1,5xx miles for $10k over original window sticker. Since then I have had to use my local sh-ty Porsche dealership for service as the next closest is 90 miles away. This dealership during an update/manufacturers repair had broken both my door panels (broke the clips on the back causing them to rattle insanely), blew my drivers door speaker during an audio test to test the rattling door panels. I fought with them to order new door panels because they attempted to fix drivers 4 times, passangers 3 times and each time made it worse. I had to get Porsche USA involved. I did get new door panels, took 6 months to get them in. I had an ignition coil go bad. The dealership sent the wrong type of tow truck twice ! They finally got the correct truck with trailer out to my house. They had my car for 4 months without giving me a loaner while waiting on the ignition coil to come in. There have been several other mishaps with the dealership including a 60 mile "test drive" said to ensure the ignition coil repair was correct.
I absolutely love my 911 C4S and was planning on buying a GT4RS. That was not happening as every single dealership turned me down without excepting a $100-150k ADM. I decided I would go with a Turbo S. Now though since all of the bad experience through my dealership, dealerships across the US and Porsche corporate I have decided I am going to sell my 911 C4S before the warranty runs out and not buy another Porsche. All seriousness the VW and Audi dealerships have treated me with much more respect, providing much better service and seemingly greatful that I chose VW as well as Audi and the particular dealership for my driving and service needs.

As a '23 BRZ owner, I did a lot of research before buying it. And thankfully, there has been a lot of testing done. And its mostly caused by the combination of an oil drain back issue, combined with the oil pickup being on the right side of the oil pan. So when you go around a hard right hand corner, and oil doesn't drain back fast enough, and the oil sloshes to the left of the pan, it can starve for oil. Most people racing them over fill the oil, we run thicker oil (5w30 instead of 0w20), and run an oil cooler. Of note, Porsche had oil drain back issues with their flat engines, and they added scavenge pumps to push oil back into the sump.
On a side note. My personal issue with the car, are the high frequency harmonics that gets transferred into the cabin via the v-bars that go from the strut towers to the firewall. Its really irritating.

Another reason is meeting regulations. Low, sloping hoods are a thing of the past, as they are a hazard to pedestrians. There has to be sufficient room between the engine and the hood for it to absorb deformation from a pedestrian impact. There are lots of things like that, requiring side markers at a certain height, requirements for tail lights, bumpers, side impact standards, things that cars from the 50s never had to face. Case in point regarding pedestrian safety, fins on a Cadillac. A child was actually killed by a Cadillac tailfin. Not because the car hit him, because he ran into the car, playing ball on a city street. He was impaled by the tail fin. Tailfins got shorter and redesigned. Wind and governments now sculpt cars.

@@bozhidardimitrov3573 I am not talking about SUVs, the worst US models are not allowed in Europe (Tesla cyber truck for example) and the US has no pedestrian impact standards that I know of. I am talking about *regular cars,* and the height of the hood above the engine, .*not* the ground. If on impact the pedestrian is thrown onto the hood, that gap is to allow for deformation of the hood, absorbing some of that impact, and the passenger is not directly striking the top of the solid metal engine immediately below the hood.
It is not about the height of the front of the car, though that must fall between certain points and within certain shape guideline, I believe, to keep that pedestrian from breaking their legs, being forced under the vehicle, or throwing them up into the air.
Pedestrian safety standards, lacking in the US but in place in Europe, are the cause for the increased bulbousness of hoods that you might've noticed. I'm not sure if it was fully put into place, but I know the regulations required 8 inches of space between the hood and top of the engine to act as a crumple zone when proposed.

For me, an amazing car is one I just bought. The Mazda CX90 GT. Love this car, pulls my boat great, comfortable, quiet, etc. Weaknesses: Shift from 1-2 is not silky smooth, and the turbo-lag can be pretty bad. BUT, it is not a race car and I realize that - but when you want to pass someone, sometimes that lag can present issues.
