As a lorry driver in the U.K. I find this really interesting. What weight do the nine axle rigs run at? The mix of European and “American “ brands is cool. 4 axle tractor unit? Wow
We run a lot of axles to trying look after our roads , that may let know about the quality at big parts of NZ however over all she ant bad road, the trouble is at the moment the powers that be bless them are making lower speed limits like 60 kph on the open country state highway 1 roads fkn discussing if you ask me!

@@newzealandtrucks No reason as to why trucks shouldn't have the same 100km/h speed limit as cars do.
Here in N.Z the max weight limit without a permit is 44 tonnes. Trucks that display the yellow backed "H" decals have permits which allow them to exceed the max weight limit. With the highest ranking permit granted, these trucks have a total max weight limit of 62 tonnes. Trucks with permits have to operate under specific routes issued by the RCA (Road Controlling Authority), which include roads and bridges that are certified to accommodate for the additional mass and/or length of these trucks (In simple terms, these trucks are required to only operate on our State Highway network).
The "American" trucks in N.Z & Australia are specially made for our conditions (they're essentially just beefed up versions of the U.S models). American truck brands such as Kenworth, Mack, Freightliner, Western Star, are either built or re-manufactured in Australia for this part of the world. N.Z recieves all these Australian spec'd American trucks in addition to one other American brand, International/Navistar trucks, which are built right here in N.Z exclusively for us.
The 4 axel configuration is our most common setup for both rigids & tractor units. The extra tires help keep our poor quality roads in better condition for longer.

Why oh why..Can Kenworth drivers not reach their Jacob brake switch, or are they just too stupid and ignorant of the laws, to use them?
As you might not already know. 'Jake Brakes' are very loud. That being the case, there are restrictions about their use in built up areas. Instead, 'Kiwi' drivers chop down through the gears, to slow their trucks in those areas.
