Thank you for mentioning compression as the main reason for medium format, people usually go crazy just for the low depth of field. Compression is by far the most important reason to go medium format as far as I'm concerned. For instance, on a 6x7 negative, you get 90mm compression but a 45mm field of view. That means you are basically getting the full compression (and right proportions of the human face) of a tight portrait lens, paired with the field of view (more context, more storytelling) of a standard lens. THAT is the central trade-off, not just "more bokeh"!

Great video dude. As a hybrid shooter, I absolutely agree this is the BEST camera on the market right now. I was shooting campaigns using the 100s for stills and RED for video, and when I got the 100 II I was able to confidently use the same setup to do both.
I've just uploaded a fashion campaign video I shot on the 100 II on my channel - I haven't seen many people sharing professional video work done with it yet so have a look. It's safe to say I won't be using my RED any more, and I'm not joking.

Good to know! I've had the 55 1.7 for like 2 days now. Used it on one shoot so far but really liked it. I have the GFX 50s II but looking into the 100 II soon.

Idk, I love this camera. I’ve had mine for like two weeks and I think it’s awesome. I love it for both stills and video. It travels well also, as the EVF is removable. Pro tip: The angle adapter is a must buy purchase.

Great vid. There are some medium format bargains to be had for sure. I picked up my Hassy X1D-50C for £1750 in the UK. I'd owned a GFX50s in the past but couldn't stand the bulk, whereas this suits me, shame about the very expensive glass but adapters are my new best friends. I would love to see a smaller GFX50s or GFXR from Fuji.
I hear the Hassy cameras are super small!
Thanks for the excellent detailed overview. The one thing that really sets this camera apart for me is the inclinable evf. Shooting video in bright sun and snow a lot, I can't see what's on any mirrorless camera's screen, can't see how to manipulate the menu and always have to use an extra bright external monitor or evf. This looks usable with its evf, so despite its size would end up smaller than most of my rigs 😅 That's said, it has a lot of compromises for video - not surprising with such a huge pixel count and sensor size.

"..I feel like you could use it with anything..." That is a profound statement. When we don't know any better, when we're not told the limitations of something, we just pick it up and use it. How many great guitarists got started on a "junk box guitar" because they couldn't afford anything better, but didn't know it was junk. The big answer is that the limitations are in your head and often self imposed. Just go out and play!!! Great video Dee. I'll never be able to afford a GFX camera any time soon. But, I don't really need one either. Right now, my big dream want is a 50-140 with a 1.4X extender for sports. Right now my longest reach is my XF90 f2. Gotta save pennies! Incredible camera. Still taking the XH2s over this for my kind of work but this camera is indeed top tier. Wish fuji would slow down on the hybrid cam trend and make more specialized bodies, given we have a lot of hybrid options now.

Their zoom lens that comes with it as a kit sometimes is one of the nicest and sharpest lenses in the system and covers about 25mm-60mm range.

Great video 👌 I’m a wedding and event photographer and I use my gfx 50r alongside my xh2 and it’s a killer combo and I use the gfx 50r for static poses and I’m getting amazing results with beautiful colours of which my clients just love the images from the medium format and yes of course my clients can definitely tell the difference between my xh2 and the gfx 50r because when viewing the images they just pop!! But if your going to just post on social media then all images look the same
