I used to make it a point to look for and chat w Vic Edelbrock, JR. right before or during AM warmups. Last time I saw him was the year before he passed. He was passing on doing morning warmup, "feeling a bit tired" He had the Bondurant 614 Corvette, and Tammy was runnign a Mustang. Ooh, there's Sam Posey's 77 Mopar! Is that Mark Donohue's Javelin?
Edelbrock didn't make carburetors back then. What today is an Edelbrock carburetor is actually an original Carter carburetor. At some point Edelbrock bought Carter and thus began selling carburetors. But it was sometime in this century. Carter supplied lots of carbs for Chrysler Corporation. I liked them better than Holleys back then because they were more dependable and easier to adjust and live with on a daily basis. Not knocking Holley, but if you ran a lot of timing, and believe me, most of us did, you needed to keep some extra power valves handy. And don't get me started about floats sticking on Holleys and filling the engine full of gas.
