    Buck is my first love when it comes to knives, and the only brand I gratuitously collect, I own a whole bunch of knives, some I have for specific purposes, others have specific sentimental attachments to me, most were part of an evolution in my preferences and systems over the years as my needs have shifted, but bucks stay, and they get looked after regularly, not all of my blades can make that claim.

    When you open the original 110, pinch the nail nick with your thumb and knuckle of your pointer finger (tip pointing away from you). Snap your wrist down, the handle will swing down into the bottom of your palm. When you get good at it, the knife will rest in your palm with no adjustment needed. Been doing it for about 45 or 50 years now. Really like the look of the last 2 110s but I'll bet they are alot lighter. Grown use to the weight of my 110. Nice review

    I have 3 microtechs, 2 benchmades, etc but the knife I edc for work is the Buck 112 Ranger Auto elite in a leather pancake sheath. Built like a tank and fires like a cannon. Get a $30 - $40 pancake sheath off etsy for that 110, you won't regret it.

      @TripleEEDC  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I haven’t had any issues with either Benchmade’s S30V or Buck’s but I have noticed Buck’s takes a better edge when sharpening. That could be due to the same properties that make a steel chippy or not (I.e. brittleness).

    Awesome video. I had not been paying attention to Buck knives. I had no idea that 110's came in so many different versions. The variety is very cool. I really have to invest in some different Buck 110's. All of these are really cool. Buf the 110 that is a grail for me would be the nickle silver bolsters and stag handle! @TripleEEDC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s odd but it’s not. Buck has been doing different versions of the Buck 110 through the Buck of the Month and Buck Legacy programs for years. Modern materials were bound to happen just by sheer volume of variants.

I might eventually phase out all the other foreign countries and go 100% USA but it’s mainly china that I no longer trust because of all the clone companies and the fact that I’ve seen chinese blades go to metallurgists for testing and turn out to not be made from the steel they claimed to use

    I have almost all versions of the 110. I think If they would have kept the same blade that comes on the original 110, and used it for the lite versions they would have been perfect. You just can't beat that pointy hollow ground blade on the original 110.

      The slims don't work for me either. The 112 slim is a great daily carry knife. But, the 110 slim is just to thin for the heavy jobs a 110 was made for. It's incredibly uncomfortable.

      The squire is really nice. It’s small but big enough and is fairly light given its materials. It’s also much more nicely finished than the 110 and has a mich softer spring which works well since it’s a smaller knife than the 110 and 112. The blade shape is also very well designed.

    I think the value of Buck knives is that they have a unique knife with respect to the 110 and 112. These two knives don't have any peers. They are solid, hefty slip joint knives that I find to be esthetically pleasing. No one else is building knives like these two. The other knives in this video are attempts to follow trends. But the trends are inferior to what Buck has done with it original brass bodied slip joints. I have no interest in these other variants. I feel that they are all inferior to the brass, wood slip joints that Buck made originally.

    • @TripleEEDC
      @TripleEEDC  ปีที่แล้ว

      I hear what you are saying and agree with respect to some models but the 110 and 112 made with lighter (but still strong m) materials and with pocket clips make these a lot more useable and carry-able for many people. The original Buck 110 and 112 are still legendary values in today’s market regardless of these additional models.
