super cool video acara are pretty cool
I have one for about 2 years. Gets along with all fishes except his brother, which had to be moved. Those two would fight for dominance constantly. The one I kept is full grown at about 5"

Currently have 2 of these guys in a 125gal S.American tank with 2 G.T.s 2 Oscars and 3 firemouths and just 1 Platinum Polar Cichlid and so far they all get along pretty good, even though the Oscars are reaching 10” each the 8” male G.T. Is the tank boss right now.

I just put two 2" blue Acaras in a 150g with two 3" Oscars and so far all is well. Oscars will push the Acaras out of the way at times but nothing agressive.
I added electric blue to a curvicept tank. It took several days for the electric to impose their rule. They are too calm. But they'll get it, now it's thiers

I'm thinking of having an EBA as a specimen fish. I'd like to add a school of Pristella, Buenos Aires, or Colombian Tetra. Do you foresee any issues?
I'll be using a 40 G breeder tank and do plan on adding a couple pieces of driftwood and various plants.

How many electric blue acaras would you recommend for them to comfortable?
Kinda need some help here. My male acara's mate died and he's depressed. Put him in a separate tank with one Molly since those fish are energetic and happy. But he doesn't eat any food that isn't frozen. He'll only eat frozen food and if you don't feed him frozen, then he starves himself until you give him more. How do i get him to start eating non-frozen food?

ThirstyRabbit Tanks2U hi there! I haven’t encountered that issue with the acara personally. I have heard electric blue Jack Dempsey’s may have that issue. Overall the acara is very hardy and usually lives a long time!
I'm thinking about doing a species only tank in my 125g tank with these and a large school of corydoras. I have gravel, do they dig alot in the substrate?

Will the electric blue acara be happy if i keep it in a tank alone with no other fish?
How many EBA do you think would be ok in a 60 gallon if they are the only fish in there? I would love a tank of them but I’m not sure how many I can keep.

I just bought one and out it with 2 convict cichlids and 2 gold severums. Hope they work out. The convicts are female but the one convict seems a little aggressive. What do you think???????
I could really use some fish help today please! I have a 75 gallon tank that I had 4 blue acaras, some yellow labs, a few baby Johannis and a Rainbow Shark. Everyone was fine the other night when I shut off the light but when I woke up all 4 of my acaras were struggling. Everyone else was totally fine. 3 died yesterday and today my last boy is hanging on, but it’s not looking good. All my water tests are perfect. I don’t understand. I’ve done so much research, but found nothing. 💔
They are a hybrid blue ram and blue acara.

I would recommend a 75 gallon or larger for an adult green terror. Electric blue acaras will do fine in slightly smaller aquariums

@@yfrjytjj6jytjdtnfyjytjdytj945 i think that would be okay if you keep stocking light around it. we typically recommend a 40 breeder at minimum, but for just one, a 30 could work

Did anyone find that the blue acara is sensitive to PH changes?
Edgar Rodriguez hey there. In my experience, as long as your other parameters (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate) are good, the PH and hardness seem to be less of an issue. Just keeping those consistent over time will be good for them 👍🏻
Is this a Male EBA? I see the anal fin have the orange lines.. I have three and only one has the yelllow lines down the anal fin, the other two are just black tips.
I have a matured 230 litre tank with a 1400 litre a hour external filter. I have planted it with various Java Fern and an Anubias. There are 6 big filament barbs in just now. I was thinking about a feature fish with a personality. I did fancy EBJD but all tiny and short lived. Would the Blue Acara be a good fish and could I have 2? Thanks Ray
Raymond Broomfield I think it would be a great feature fish in that setup. Only problem with two would be if both were males, they may fight each other

What kind of geos do you have in with them? How big is the tank?
Ours seems fat or their body shape is pretty thick. Do you agree? Or are we overfeeding
what's that sand used in that tank and the rocks(what type)? , can lava rocks be used can one acara be kept in 20 gallon
I saw that black course sand or smooth black gravel bring out the blue. Im trying to source these electrics atm. My plan is to push my light gravel around to some parts of the tank and add black course sand to make a wide path sort of thing
Same question as on the geophagus 😂 do you think I can mix this fish with my angle fish and my gouramis and oh ya I also have a red eye jumbo tetra too 😂 and I also want the geophagus with them too 😂
Haha no worries. They would be great tank mates for almost all Geophagus. Most of the time angels would be okay. I would definitely be cautious with the gourami and tetras. It would probably work, but if the EBA is mature it could be tough

Your substrate is just a mix of white and black sand or pre mix ?
michael levesque it actually comes pre mixed, it’s called african cichlid mix by Carib Sea on Amazon

Why is it that a blue acara would be happy by himself but a peacock Cichlid wouldn't be? Or would a peacock by himself be ok?

Not a great fit with rainbow fish, when acara gets larger, the may strike at them, your rainbows may not color up to its full potential
