    This is a fantastic explanation! Thank you for making this video. I did a "test playthrough" last night referring to the instructions, but this solidifies it. Great vid, and I hope you make more.

    Thank you very much for this. I’ve tried to read the rulebook a few times and it just never clicked. This was easy to follow and helped me understand the game much better.

      Thanks for the kind words, Nick! It's such a good game and you're not the first person to say that about the rules so I'm glad this helped you out. Hope you enjoy your plays of Babylonia! - Carlo

    This game is honestly so good!
    Edit: I am so bad at rules. I’ve played this game like 5 times and never knew the placement rules for not being able to take the 3+ farmers action for the River. It makes sense though.
    I also didn’t know you score a point each time you place a tile next to a ziggurat.

    • @AllYouCanBoard
      @AllYouCanBoard  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha yeah, even though it's only a few pages of rules and it seems simple, I had to set it up and play through a few sample turns before it fully made sense. It really does help to see it in action.
      And I've only played 2 player so far but in a 5 player game there are 5 Ziggurats so you could get to a point where each tile you place near one gets you 4 or 5 points! But to do that, you likely won't get majority on any one Ziggurat. The choices!! Glad you love this too, it's a brilliant game.
      Thanks for watching!

    at 6:17 you place the city tile in front of the blue player, but doesn't the brown player have more clan tokens around that city?

    • @AllYouCanBoard
      @AllYouCanBoard  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Correct - our apologies for the mix-up with the b-roll. That city would've absolutely gone to the brown player.

    On the topic of Knizia tile placement games, have you played Yellow & Yangtze? If so, how do you rate it?

    • @AllYouCanBoard
      @AllYouCanBoard  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not yet! I'd love to try it but I just haven't had the chance yet. So far the Knizia tile-laying games I've played are Babylonia, Blue Lagoon, and Tigris & Euphrates (digital version only). I need to play T&E more (and in person) to see where it ranks for me. And I think I'm on the verge of getting a used copy of Through the Desert. Once I play TtD, Samurai, and Y&Y, I/we might do a video comparing all the Knizia tile-layers. Could be a while though, we'll see if we can get our hands on some of those!

    So every player scores point for his/her city-tiles. If i totally souround a city with my tokens all other players get 1 point per city they already have, right. Not only the involved players?

    • @AllYouCanBoard
      @AllYouCanBoard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right, so let's say another player already has 5 cities and you have none. When you gain your 1st city, you'll score 1 point and that player would score 5. Then for your 2nd city, you'd score 2 points and that player would again score 5. Falling behind too far on cities can be devastating.

    Have you played Tigers and Euphrates? Seems this game was influenced/inspired from that game.

    • @AllYouCanBoard
      @AllYouCanBoard  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have! Just the app and on Board Game Arena though, I'm on the lookout for a copy. And although this has the Tigris & Euphrates rivers and shares some similarities with T&E, apparently Babylonia is more of an iteration of another Reiner Knizia tile-laying game called Samurai. I haven't played Samurai yet so I can't compare them myself but that's the one Babylonia tends to be compared to most. Knizia sort of did 3 updated versions of old tile-laying games from the 90s:
      Tigris & Euphrates ---> Yellow & Yangtze
      Through the Desert ---> Blue Lagoon
      Samurai ---> Babylonia
