if you want a college decisions reaction video that will make u feel better about urself…you’ve come to the right place LOL
college decisions was definitely...an experience HAHA. as an asian, international, and cs applicant i knew i'd have a tougher time than most but i did my best! if you thought my reactions were emotional, deciding where to commit was even MORE of a rollercoaster. this kind of thing is not meant for indecisive ppl like me. def does not feel great to be rejected esp from your dream school but it happens! if you're a recently graduated senior, lmk in the comments where you're going (esp if you're going to my uni!!) :)

weighted gpa: 4.30 (i know every school weights differently so take this with a grain of salt but basically i had all A+s and As with the exception of 2 B+s and my school grades on a semester system, took 9 AP/AT classes and 3 honors classes)
sat: 1530, 780 on math and 750 on english
sat subject: 800 on math lvl 2, 790 on chem
aps: got 5s on all (com sci a, calc ab, chem, psych, macroecon, microecon, calc bc) except for a 4 on lang
ecs: dance, volunteered in elementary school, tech startup paid intern, forensics team, tedx event manager, peer support, middle school dance program volunteer, volunteered for an organization that helps eradicate poverty in the philippines, tutored for english, chemistry, computer science, and math via honor societies, organized charity walk to build wells in cambodia, prom committee

I relate to your description sooooo much lol! This years college decision process was such a rollercoaster and especially for someone who is so indecisive! You are not alone! I think I switched my college choice 3 times!!! Thank goodness we made it to the end:)

That was a huge surprise at the end. You hadn't said that you got off the waitlist at NYU. I thought for sure you were going to go to Carnegie Mellon. What made you choose NYU over CM? Was it a tough choice between those two schools, and maybe some others, like McGill? Where were you planning to go before getting off the NYU waitlist?
most ppl thought i was going to choose CMU and so did i so i get where you're coming from! my college commitment process was super complicated and definitely different from many others' (as i didn't get a big enough scholarship anywhere for financials to be a huge consideration or get into any of my top choice schools). the school i committed to before NYU is honestly an even bigger shock at least in my opinion. if this video gets enough views maybe i'll make a video explaining my school elimination process :)

Congrats. It seemed like u were more excited getting into ubc compared to some other colleges like umich . I thought it was easier to get into ubc than umich though ? Or am I wrong ?
hi! yes ur right it is easier to get into ubc than umich. ahaha i was just generally pretty excited about anywhere i got accepted but i think bc i didnt expect to hear my ubc result back when i did mayb it seemed that way?

thank you! no, i didn’t :( to be honest because none of my scholarships were too huge and i’m international, cost wasn’t a huge consideration unfortunately

haha thanks i get this a lot but its bc i am a native english speaker ! it was my first language :) also english is the national language here in singapore

although the cs program is AMAZING at cmu (i mean its one of the best in the world) honestly it all came down to like what i wanted out of a college experience! cmu is VERY academically rigorous and people there are incredibly passionate about their work which though are great things are not 100% what i wanted out of college. although i value a strong cs program and prioritize my work, i honestly just wanted a more well rounded college experience in other aspects and i didn't think cmu could give me that.

hi! i received distinguished and exemplary service awards + an excellence in science award for biology :) additionally, i was part of my school's national honor society, science national honor society, national english honor society, national dance honor society, and computer science honor society.

i started studying around 2 months before about mayb twice a week with the exception of the week leading up to it! practice tests/khan academy will be your best friend :)

i didn't apply for any need-based financial aid because honestly at most of my colleges i wasn't eligible to bc i'm international or would affect my chances for the same reason :( any scholarship money i got from colleges was purely merit-based and had no extra application as they determine it based on your regular app! also don't please apologize and keep asking if you need :)
