Well that changed my entire perspective, I thought, idk, they were always acting like animals, on all fours, looking weird but they’re just wholesome and enjoying themself, thanks for this video, I would have never known that some Otherkins/Therian aren’t just running around everywhere, climbing trees and growling, they’re actually really chill and fun!
Don't call them otherkin/therians... they're human beings that enjoy pretending to act like animals. And that's fine... but it's not their identity and it doesn't make them any more or less human than they already are.
@@Peacefulpreface6323 otherkin/therians know they're human! It's just the fact they feel non human on the inside, usually caused by neurodivergence but some people identify as that due to spiritual beliefs, otherkin/therians identify as humans and animals as they can't change the fact they are a human and yes you're right, at least physically they can't be more or less human but psychologically it's different
@Cyber Wolf no they're not. No human knows how it feels to be another animal. It's ridiculous and clearly the symptoms of deep seated issues that you're brushing off as an identity. It's insulting to trans people and the troubled young people you're pandering to.

@% R E E S E % some people do it, it seems to be more common and younger members of the community people typically around the ages of 11 to 15. To each their own honestly. at one point I used to do it but then realized that these creatures to be other candidates identifying as them not with them and the fact that if your theriotype can talk to you or is a separate entity and you don't really see them as you like you aren't them and they aren't you then it's typically more likely to be a spirit guide. I personally don't name my theriotypes as I am my theriotypes, and to elaborate I have seen older people also do it I've just found it to be more common in the younger generation of therians i feel like it's a generally newer concept
IThere are so many different people in this world. This is way more positive than people drinking, yelling in the streets & punching eatchother seriously
As a therian, many people hate us because they are not use to us. When someone is different, people express hate towards them for no reason other than "I don't like what you're doing so stop".. No one is here to please ANYONE but themselves. Who are you to judge me, when you are still finding yourself? Who are you to tell me what to wear, think, speak, and be as a whole when you are the one who doesn't even know self-love? We are spiritual beings, and we are beautiful. We are us, and that's all that matters. Don't get mad that we aren't giving you the negative response you'd like, because you want other people to feel the negativity you feel. "Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that". To the person reading this: You are beautiful, and unique. No one laughs, smiles, looks, acts, and speaks the way you do. You are you, and thats what makes you so beautiful.
Lycanthropy: the supernatural transformation of a person into a wolf, as recounted in folk tales. Therianthropy: Therians, or therianthropes, are people who identify, in some intrinsic way, as an animal that exists or has existed on earth. Some believe that their soul is that of an animal while others believe the cause of their animal identity is psychological.

I just... have an incredibly autistic-painted mind, as i like to say (I'm aspec, not an allistic trying to appropriate anything) how did you found out you were vampirekin though? are you on amino or another communities aswell? (would u mind to recommend some? 👉👈) did you find that out after or before the catkin thing? sorry for all the questions, i just don't know anyone from the kinmunity and have no idea where to start hahah...
You're not catkin or vampire kin. You like cats and vampires. And that's great. Use that passion to give something back to society instead of trying to mask the fact your life is so empty that you have to pretend to be something you're not. Go to a children's hospice dressed as a cat or a vampire and tell stories to kids about those things, make them laugh and smile instead of sitting on your computer in your basement pretending that you're above being a human.
@@notdead5837 red foxes can become up to 15 years, anyway this person knows they're a human physically and you're clearly undereducated so why bother hating on something you barely know anything about
I’m not otherkin, (anymore.. long story, scroll down to the other section to see that story.) but they do look really happy, being themselves and how like… free, they can feel. I mean, sure. It’s definitely cringy, but it’s opinion. If they feel uncomfortable in a body and feel to be animal, it may be a little cringy, but it’s how they feel inside, and you can’t judge them of that. It’s just how they are inside, they feel trapped in a wrong species, and their soul is being let free. They’re still living, breathing, souls with emotion. They’re just being them. So.. how I was an "other-kin" at one point story. When I was little, I was raised with cats and had emotional connection with them, I grew attached and truly believed that I had the soul of a cat. I saw Better in the dark, and I could hear just a bit better than usual, but that was just a dumb little kid I was. I generally thought I was other-Kim, as if I was a cat inside. I thought cleaning yourself by paw was a good thing to me, healthy. I felt as if I was feline and became uncomfortable with my body. Over the years, I thought how stupid it was to think i was other-kin. My love for cats started to fade, I mean, I was young, it was an obvious obsession. Now I just believe that feline acts are ok, I’m just not comfortable with it. I find the whole "all fours" thing cringy, but it’s who some people believe they are. I don’t feel AS feline, I just share an emotional connection nowadays. I found that I just really care for felines. I found it stupid and was somewhat harsh on myself of being other kin, but it helped. I’m not saying to do it, but it helped me somewhat realize that I might actually not be other-kin. That’s all lol
being otherkin in a small town its hard and the internet doesn't really help but at my school I found a small group of otherkins and its really fun also WHERE MY OTHERKINS AT!!
I think it's odd how some of these people talk about their stereotypes as if it's not them, therianthropy started as an identification as non-human you are your theriotypes to some degree, they cannot act independently from you as they are your identity, if your theriotypes talk to you give you advice and wisdom etc then it is probably a spirit guide
Well guess some of the reasons for that are, that as a Therian you not always reffer to yourself as just your theriotype. You get raised as a human, nothing else, so you always compare that to "that creature of yours that is non-human". Also for Polytherians with multiple theriotypes I feel like you rather seperate that a bit from simply being "you", because you already have to differenciate between the theriotypes. But in the end it alsways YOURSELVE, its not something that is seperated from what is YOU, even if it might sound a bit like that. At least that is my view on things as a Polytherian.
PD (PinkDolphin) made a video of dissociative therianthropy which could explain why some therians talk about theriotypes in 3rd person. It's his most recent video of the definition of therianthropy.
The whole “Sometimes tensions rise between members of the pack, wolves tend to resolve conflict by fighting.” Part was kinda funny to me. The ‘fight’ looked very playful, like dogs when they play with each other, and it’s fortunate this is said later on - but the first part is kinda funny on its own lol
We absolutely do that!! I'm foxkin and playfighting is one of my favorite things ever, I used to do it with my friends when we had fights and then we would all apologize later. It's a really healthy way to get feelings out without actually hurting each other.

Warning: this comment will be long -- Hi there, as an active member of the otherkin and therian community I'm here to critisize your video. I'm here to correct the mistakes made (often by misinformation, bad research and misconceptions), to give opinion and generally reflect this video. Not to be rude, nor because I feel attacked. Lemme start watching 0:02 oh a documentary! That means you did your research well, right? Should be interesting then. 0:18 "connection to dragons", this girl is actually known to be a with/pagan/wiccan-anything alike on youtube and isn't really a therian youtuber. While some therians/otherkin do feel a connection to an animal. A connection to an animal doesn't automaticly make one a therian. It's not about a connection. Example: I have hated dolphins all my life (but now respect them after research) 0:21 side note: she's a lot older now and a mother of one or two kids 0:25 taking a cringecomplication as an otherkin example.. I do not count that as valid or serious information or source. 0:38 same case, tho he words otherkinity a bit more correct 1:00 why does no one ever leave her alone? She has already made a second video about that she does not identify the same way anymore. She was suffering from clinical lycanthropy, actually believing one is an animal, physically an animal or can turn into one. clinical lycanthropy is a serious mental illness and not the same as theriantropy/otherkinity (where one at all times know they're 100% physically human) 1:06 STOP RIGHT THERE, 'otherkin/therian are people who believe they posess the soul of an animal', you better do your research better next time as this is plainly incorrect. Having a soul of an animal does not make one a therian. DEFINITIONS: therianthropy: the identity where one identifies as a non-human, earthen animal on a non-physical level (recognizing at all times they're human) A therian: someone identifying as a non-human, earthen animal on a non-physical level (recognizing at all times they're human) Otherkinity as an umbrella term: the identity where one identifies as a non-human being on a non-physical level (recognizing at all times they're human) Otherkinity as a subterm: the identity where one identifies as a non-human, non-earthen being specifily on a non-physical level (recognizing at all times they're human) An otherkin: someone identifying as a non-human, non-earthen animal specificly on a non-physical level (recognizing at all times they're human) In short: therian identify as animals (cat, dog, fish,..), otherkin identify as non-earthen beings (dragons, unicorns, ..), otherkin (non-specific) is an umbrella term for both therian and otherkin. By that all therians are otherkin, but not all otherkin are therians. One does not need a past life, soul, connection or anything alike to be otherkin/therian. They only have to identify as non-human. Otherway around, those things do not make one otherkin/therian unless they also identify as non-human. around 1:30 she could well be a therian/otherkin, who identifies as those beings and beliefs it's caused by having such souls. in terminology this would make her a spiritual therian (experiencing spiritual therianthropy) as her non-human identity is caused by something spiritual. What bothers me: she refers to her kintypes (animals she identifies as) as a seperated being with an own name and gender.. 1. how can a wolf be called snow? Official research has proven that animals do not name eachother, wolfs and such 'name' other wolfs etc by recognizing their outlooks and smell. The only animal found to 'name' by created a specific sound (simular to a specific word) is the dolphin. So a wolf will not give another wolf any other name than a smell (or recognizing outlook) and it would suprise me if smells are called 'snow'. other than that is 'snow' a human sound that no other animal but parrots etc can create or know etc. By that, a wolf cannot form the word snow. even dogs as pet called laika actually only remember 'aia'. so place all dogs called laika in a giant garden and scream "aia!" and they'll all run to you. The only way a wolf could have a human-formed name is by having been a pet in a past life. Kintypes are not seperated being, I am an animal, I am my theriotype and my theriotype is me. (even tho I know I'm human in body). You have to compare it to being transgender. A physical girl might identify (gender identity) as a boy. However their gender (boy) isn't a seperated being from them with a different name, likes, dislikes, personality, .. well a kintype works in the same way.. So I raise my eyebrows. 3:17 interesting, you've taken out a pack, a lot of young therians enjoy to form a group and howl and run around in forests wearing 'therian gear', I also am part of an online pack and organise meets were therian gear like tails is frequently worn and howled as well. Nice to see :) (tho not all therians form packs or enjoy them ofcourse and not all packs are therians, many enjoy to pretend and roleplay instead. Some wolf-like packs might be teen werewolves instead, which is an emo like lifestyle where they do wolf-like activities while not actually identifying as a wolf) the guy at 3:59 should do his research better however. He reffers to his theriotype as a seperated being with an own name, gender an personality. Same case as with 1:30 and what I said about the comparison to transgenders. 4:31 tails, I love tails. However those are impossible to be roadkill or hunt or non-furfarm taxidermy. We got a golden island fox tail and cinnamon fox tail. Golden island foxes are a mix between red fox and arctic fox and one of the most popular furfarm foxes. Arctic and red foxes are in nature enemies and will kill eachother or eachothers pups, they're created by furfarms and do not exist outside of furfarms. Back in ~1960 or so, the last wild golden island fox was seen but those are VERY rare exceptions and a tail would cost you like 200-500$ as they're very rare. The cinnamon fox is a colour mutation of the red fox, created by furfarms and not possible in the wild. Both tails are by this furfarm tails and animals killed for fur.. However I'm not against furfarms (unless they're known for cruelty, like aliexpress/wish and any chinese furfarm) as plastic fake fur tails at the end do way more damage to the world and animal population than furfarm foxes. Furfarm foxes individually suffer. But plastic fake fur tails kill entire populations of fish and forests etc and hurt more general animals at the end. EDIT: after a closer look, the white-like tail could also be a platinum tail, however platinum is also a red fox colour mutation created in furfarms and only possible in furfarms. Non-existing in the wild. 5:26 I would rather call it roleplaying and playfighting, which many theriand including me enjoy, rather than actual fighting etc hha. Wolfs in the wild after all wouldn't fight either as they live in a mom x dad (alpha pair) = kids structure. Alpha-beta-omega is an old research which is proven to be incorrect and false information, alpha-beta-omega structure only exists in captive wolfs (zoo etc). Aka wolfs in the wild will only fight if the kid annoys the parent or if a wolf is in danger by another wolf which is not from their pack. if a therian annoys or angers another therian, serious fights with biting or clawing might happen, but most are able to keep themselves in control. 8:38 as a good point there about being older and 'not needing to go over top anymore' etc, I completely agree with her and share the same experience. I was more 'extreme' in expressing therianthropy at the age of 16 compared to now, at the age of 18. 9:20 'it's just a belief we have', therianthropy is not a belief, it's an identity. it can be caused by believing something or such when you believe it's caused by past lifes or souls by example or given by god or Anything alike. But at it's own, it's not a belief. He's correct tho, many enjoy us being around and I've gotten many positive conversations with non-therians while having a therian meet etc. We do not harm, we have fun and are enjoying ourselves in a friendly and harmless way and then people don't mind us really. There are still exceptions.. but the majority of my experiences with 'outsiders' are positive. -- Despite some general misconceptions and such, I enjoyed this documentary and it was amazingly well filmed and edited. My apologies for the lenght.
Tbh I think people name their theriotypes so it's easier to explain to people, so for example "im called ________ " I don't feel my Theriotypes have names, but I named them just so people could differentiate between them
Hi. I'm Trixie. From the video. My kin types have names that I gave them myself. Also another problem is this. I spent a full day with the crew and did numerous interviews. Sadly they've been cut and at one point I stated that therian/otherkin all tend to have etheir own ways of explaining the community but this one is my way, I even said that many others would probably disagree with me.
Aw, this is nice. I’m not even an otherkin, but I always enjoy seeing a group in a positive light after getting so much blind hate. People just can never get past the idea that people enjoy different things.
"blind hate" Maybe if they didn't ridicule the LGBTQ+ community by creating flags and saying they have "species dysphoria" they wouldn't be getting that much hate. You shouldn't encourage this behavior. It's harmful to them and to other people, and an unhealthy way to cope with something. Seeing a therapist may do.
@@DavideCosmaro It's not to ridicule the LGBTQ+ community, species dysphoria is a real thing! Maybe it's psychological, maybe a therapy could help (not like there were any specialists on that topic as for now), but that doesn't make it less real and less of a problem to people like me experiencing it. So yeah, to just assume that it's JUST to mock queer people, 'cause you simply couldn't imagine that some people probably might feel discomfort in the creature they were born with but can't identify as, I would call that "blind hate".
I’m not an other kin but this is really cool. I like to pretend I’m a grey fox and play fight and chase each other in the house, so I like to pretend what if I was a other-kin. In other words this is interesting and cool to me I like how everyone is having fun and running around. :)

I've actually seen a video of a therian that was a rat and some kind of bug (not sure what bug it was.) So yes, they do exist. Also one of my theriotypes is a horse, not sure how common that is but yk, it's not a choice so don't judge people's theriotypes :]
most are cats and wolves because like 50% of the community are psychological therians/otherkin and not spiritual. For the spiritual ones it would make sense for a wolf or a cat to choose to reincarnate as a human since historically(and logically) those animals have been closer to humans
@the apocryphite first of all, please refrain from using the word "retarded". It is offensive to compare how people feel about themselves to a mental illness. And however a person chooses to identify should not matter as long as it does not directly effect you or pose a danger. They hurt no one by saying they feel a stronger connection and better identify with non human entities. However if an adult wants to identify as a minor so prey on children, that is where you are allowed to be concerned. I personally dont like them identifying as animals because it's stealing Native American culture but I can't stop them so it's none of my business.
Man it's almost funny to see the amount of people who turn into armchair psychologists over stuff they consider to be cringe. A lot of that going on in this comment section.
I thought Otherkins were similar to Fictionkins. I'm a Therian myself, and I am a kitsune and dragon. Otherkins are part of Therianthropy but being a Therian doesn't make you an Otherkin. To make it make more sense, please label it as Alterhuman
Your kin type isn't defined by some online test or anything like that finding a can type is about research and learning about how you feel inside, people who are other can do not see themselves as their physical body inside they feel like they were born into a body that was human when some even think that they should have been born into a body of an animal. This is an identity not a choice or some sort of personality thing.... an online test won't tell you if your otherkin and the majority of people aren't, being otherkin is a spiritual or psychological belief that you ARE NOT HUMAN. Like when I look in the mirror it's not me.its some body I got misplaced into
i tried running on all fours and i loved the feeling of just crawling around and being nonhuman bUt everything changed when i my sis told me i run like a monkey and bOoM im done :D now i just run in my dreams and it feel amazing UnU)))
How do you identify as a certain race of an animal (snow fox, red fox, half siberian-half south american fox)? Like, I never heard someone say “I identify as an gay asian-african woman, but with short blond hair and light skin and a taste for young cabbages“.
We don't identify as that animal at least I don't. I believe in past lives and that those animals are lives from my past. Like Buddhists believe in reincarnation, as do I. I'm just able to remember some of it.
Therians/otherkin may identify as a different "race" of an animal simply because of the differences. I know i am an Arctic wolf due to many things, but one that stood out was my love for the cold. I hate warm weather with a passion. I take cold showers and never wear coats, i just love the cold. I feel safe and comfortable in it. I also have had past life visions/dreams of my form, being able to see myself as i once was. I have memories that never happened in this lifetime, all based in the arctic. This wouldn't make sense if i were a Timber wolf. I've never had memories of hunting deer in the forest. Always seals and half-rotted polar bear carcasses over here lol. That's just one reason, and I'm sure there are more, but yeah.
So I've been researching a lot about otherkins and I'm trying to understand this, so: your gender is more of an emotional state of being, while your otherkin is more of a spiritual state of being, right? I'm not trying to "debunk these emotions with facts, bro", I'm just genuinely interested.
@꧁FrêêzysFørêvêr꧂ horse taxi's do sound cool, and honestly thank you for explaining this to me! When I was younger, I used to think it was some "weird" kink, but as I grew older and started learning more n' more about society(insert the funny meme) I, instead of brushing off thing that seemed "out of the ordinary" as "wrong", I started doing research about it and understanding the why's n' how's. And after doing all that research I realized this: every person on this earth is different in their own way, and we have to deal with it one step at a time.
@@wolvesgirl1565 I’d consider using real fur as it kills much more wildlife and nature using fake ones. I get all my furs and bones from roadkill and people who had to kill the animals like local farmers. So they had dies anywho
I wonder if most of these people grow out of this ok? Some of it might be acceptance issues. I also believe in the age of the internet some of the younger people especially have a need to be unique and strange and envied for that as well. I think it's fine to let them have fun with it as long as it doesn't hurt real life.
I think that a lot of people grow out of it, especially children... when I was I kid, I would pretend I was a wolf and howl, growl and bark with the other neighboring kids.. at night. Because why not, it’s cool to be part animal. But I do think that many people ACTUALLY are other kin, identify as such, and, frankly won’t grow out of it. More people are “coming out” as otherkin nowadays probably because the world is so diverse nowadays and more accepting, especially in America. And the UK.
Frankly I feel like this is because modern society is just such a shitshow that some humans have had to find ways to cope with it by doing things like this that seem bizarre to most people. Indigenous people are originally incredibly connected to nature including of course other animals, we've separated from nature too much. In a lot of indigenous cultures, in celebration and ceremonies, they wear animal masks and animal hides, this is sort of like a bastardized version of it imo but still, it's something to think about

This is worse, delusional people calling themselves animals
Otherkin people are weird. But they don't really deserve the hate.

@Valeria Roman if lycanthropy is turning men into beasts, then what is Therianthropy? Beast to man?
Lycanthropy:
the supernatural transformation of a person into a wolf, as recounted in folk tales.
Therianthropy:
Therians, or therianthropes, are people who identify, in some intrinsic way, as an animal that exists or has existed on earth. Some believe that their soul is that of an animal while others believe the cause of their animal identity is psychological.

Hi there, as an active member of the otherkin and therian community I'm here to critisize your video. I'm here to correct the mistakes made (often by misinformation, bad research and misconceptions), to give opinion and generally reflect this video. Not to be rude, nor because I feel attacked.
Lemme start watching
0:02 oh a documentary!
Example: I have hated dolphins all my life (but now respect them after research)
0:21 side note: she's a lot older now and a mother of one or two kids
0:25 taking a cringecomplication as an otherkin example.. I do not count that as valid or serious information or source.
0:38 same case, tho he words otherkinity a bit more correct
1:00 why does no one ever leave her alone? She has already made a second video about that she does not identify the same way anymore. She was suffering from clinical lycanthropy, actually believing one is an animal, physically an animal or can turn into one. clinical lycanthropy is a serious mental illness and not the same as theriantropy/otherkinity (where one at all times know they're 100% physically human)
1:06 STOP RIGHT THERE, 'otherkin/therian are people who believe they posess the soul of an animal', you better do your research better next time as this is plainly incorrect. Having a soul of an animal does not make one a therian.
DEFINITIONS:
therianthropy: the identity where one identifies as a non-human, earthen animal on a non-physical level (recognizing at all times they're human)
A therian: someone identifying as a non-human, earthen animal on a non-physical level (recognizing at all times they're human)
Otherkinity as an umbrella term: the identity where one identifies as a non-human being on a non-physical level (recognizing at all times they're human)
Otherkinity as a subterm: the identity where one identifies as a non-human, non-earthen being specifily on a non-physical level (recognizing at all times they're human)
An otherkin: someone identifying as a non-human, non-earthen animal specificly on a non-physical level (recognizing at all times they're human)
In short: therian identify as animals (cat, dog, fish,..), otherkin identify as non-earthen beings (dragons, unicorns, ..), otherkin (non-specific) is an umbrella term for both therian and otherkin.
Some wolf-like packs might be teen werewolves instead, which is an emo like lifestyle where they do wolf-like activities while not actually identifying as a wolf)
the guy at 3:59 should do his research better however.

"blind hate"
Maybe if they didn't ridicule the LGBTQ+ community by creating flags and saying they have "species dysphoria" they wouldn't be getting that much hate.
So yeah, to just assume that it's JUST to mock queer people, 'cause you simply couldn't imagine that some people probably might feel discomfort in the creature they were born with but can't identify as, I would call that "blind hate".

i have too many theriotypes and kintypes
Otherkins are always cats and wolves but there's never an otherkin with the soul of a rat, a tlacuache, a earth worm or a big fat frog. No fly otherkins or cockroach otherkins.
They choose always "edgy" looking animals.
Those therians do exist. I've seen so many of the "unusual" types of animals
i can only hope that this is never ever tracked back to me irl. But I’ll just say Wormkin exist. I… know a friend 🌚
As a rat otherkin yeah you don't see a lot of us lol
I've actually seen a video of a therian that was a rat and some kind of bug (not sure what bug it was.) So yes, they do exist. Also one of my theriotypes is a horse, not sure how common that is but yk, it's not a choice so don't judge people's theriotypes :]
most are cats and wolves because like 50% of the community are psychological therians/otherkin and not spiritual. For the spiritual ones it would make sense for a wolf or a cat to choose to reincarnate as a human since historically(and logically) those animals have been closer to humans
I'm a questioning otherkin/therian. So finding stuff like this is always nice
@the meme factory no it isn't, Tumblr otherkin is just strange compared to other sites and communities for otherkins

Katie Brewer same
Therians/otherkin may identify as a different "race" of an animal simply because of the differences.

@꧁FrêêzysFørêvêr꧂ hm, interesting. Could explain more about how you view your identity?
@꧁FrêêzysFørêvêr꧂ horse taxi's do sound cool, and honestly thank you for explaining this to me! When I was younger, I used to think it was some "weird" kink, but as I grew older and started learning more n' more about society(insert the funny meme) I, instead of brushing off thing that seemed "out of the ordinary" as "wrong", I started doing research about it and understanding the why's n' how's. And after doing all that research I realized this: every person on this earth is different in their own way, and we have to deal with it one step at a time.

I wonder if most of these people grow out of this ok? Some of it might be acceptance issues. I also believe in the age of the internet some of the younger people especially have a need to be unique and strange and envied for that as well. I think it's fine to let them have fun with it as long as it doesn't hurt real life.
nick perry all of the comments are like “Im otherkin too!!!” Ans saying this is “educational” 😂😂😂 im literally dying
And the UK.
@@keana1057 it is educational it is educating peope about us

We don't exactly grow out of it, we can grow out of the community but we will always be what we are
Frankly I feel like this is because modern society is just such a shitshow that some humans have had to find ways to cope with it by doing things like this that seem bizarre to most people. Indigenous people are originally incredibly connected to nature including of course other animals, we've separated from nature too much. In a lot of indigenous cultures, in celebration and ceremonies, they wear animal masks and animal hides, this is sort of like a bastardized version of it imo but still, it's something to think about
