- In this EPF Episode, my exploration of the Puget Sounds at the Edmonds Fishing continues!!! For the morning of my third day in the PNW, I try to find out if a higher bait diversity on the Pier will bring me a higher Species diversity!

Did you know that...?
🤤...As mentioned in the video, EPF was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil. Albeit my family is from Qing Dao, China. And nowadays I am an American Citizen who worked in a Thai restaurant for years in the past, divorced two years ago from a Croatian lady. Hah. Forget the Multi-Species. Talk about Multi-Cultural, eh?! That's why my accent is quite unique.
🤤...This is not the first time that I attempt to compare baits in my TH-cam videos. If you all remember, I did something similar around December of 2020 (Squid VS Shrimp). If you folks haven't watched that video yet: • SHRIMP VS SQUID!!! Whi...
🤤...I actually bought that $17.99 a pound shrimp "by accident." I thought that the only Market around Edmonds was the expensive "Whole Foods style" Super Market that I found on google maps. After getting out of there, I realized that there was a "regular Market" right across the street from it. Hahaha. While I did feel cheated about wasting my money (shrimp in the other market was $8.99 a pound), that's when I had the idea of shooting this particular TH-cam video. Thus, I went back to the cheap Market and got some fresh mussels and Oysters.

I live in Seattle and I've fished at that spot before. Cool to see you out here in Washington. You should try fishing at the golden gardens pier, I fish there all there time.
Hi EPF, I'm a Puget Sound resident. I feel your pain with the barbless hooks . Try circle hooks, they hold the fish well.
Use elastic thread for oysters and mussel. Wrap the thread around the shank several times (use hooks with a longer shank) then secure the bait to the rest of the hook. Amazing stuff!!
I tried using oysters once for catfish cause i saw a jar of them on clearance at Wal-Mart. They suck for staying on the hook and as soon as you pierce them that milky stuff jizzes all over. It squirted on my shoe and it was all i could smell for the rest of the day. Never again. Lol
Dude I love your energy and the knowledge you bring. Keep the videos coming! Kind of disappointed you didn't make a dirty joke I'm this one 🤣
flatfish is speckled sanddab, sanddab are left eyed and occasionally starry flounder are as well, but that is a good identifying feature
Leo put a half a shrimp on jig may be a 1/8 or 1/4 oz jig.
I am always learning from your videos Sir. Nice video.
Be careful with that continental breakfast Leo! 🤣
I used to build some high end custom houses around that area in Edmonds years ago and every so often wed go down after work to that very pier to smoke blunts and drink whiskey as the sun set. Good times.
Brazilian food is awesome, in fact, most food from South America is awesome. Thankfully I live in New Jersey and I can find every type of cuisine
Yeah nj definitely has a lot of cuisine diversity, there’s a lot of great restaurants especially pertaining to Portuguese and Brazilian
Hell yeah 🤟 that was awesome bro, I'm gana get myself some oisters and give it a shot at the Harbour
Yay 😁 a new video - Leo really needed your good energy this evening - tight lines 🚣🏻♂️👍🏻🍀Irish Kirsty, Holland x
Thanks for another great video.
I'm on my phone so couldn't tell for sure but that last one, after the outro, looked like a grass rockfish. Also, look for "magic thread" in baitshops.
What I usually do is wrap shrimp with line and it stays on the hook even after several fish, also I see u already caught one of those finicky pile perch I've been trying to catch one for months!
Day 1 big fan!!!!!!!!
What a nice day ! hope you set up a wire leader 5\0 - 9\0 X strong hook shiner perch rig there are some monster lingcod and cabazon that hunt the pilings also 6-8 inch Ribbon Tail Swimming Worm, 1/2 oz head black, white and motor oil there are shark and squid at night wire leader for shark squid jig love these shows ! may you catch many new fish !
Awesome to see you back at my neck of the woods! That pier is a classic spot. Any freshwater specific species you targeting out here? I know the last time you came down you were fishing around in Spokane
Leo, aqui no Brasil nós usamos uma linha elástica (elastricot) para "amarrar" as iscas que não se fixam muito bem no anzol. Isso é muito usado em pesca de praia. Talvez te ajude.
Bait or Egg loop knots work great for holding those soft baits to the hook. They are a pain in the gluteus with hooks smaller than 6 but I have used them on 8's to hold shrimp. They also take much longer to tie but save time rebaiting in the long run. Welcome to WA, hermano.
Here on the Oregon coast we say “if you don’t like the weather, wait 15 minutes”. Sounds like the puget sound is the same
Idea for keeping bait on barbless hooks…. A small piece of rubber band, slid onto the hook after the bait…😎
Congrats on the new species. I love your videos. Cannot wait for the next ep. Stay safe and tight lines 🎣
Hey Leo! Are you aloud to use panty hose to help you better bait the hooks? Idk if this is against your standards and such but when my family used to go cat fishing to reduce the amount of bait being take and such they would put the chicken liver in panty hose to help it stay on the hook!
That’s what we always did with chicken liver 🍤
Or fish bites ?
The use of different baits seemed ta help out . Tho I would expect more species too be around . I hope the fishing gets better for ya at night . Hope you get yer new life list fish . Carry on Leo . Tom Daytona Beach , FL. 15, September 2021 .
I have been thinking about trying salted shrimp, hoping that will toughen them up a bit before hooking them. Not sure if they'll work in coastal MD however...
Maybe push a little rubber stopper over the point of your hook to secure bait on it, don't think you'd need to worry about that falling off into the water either!
Food wise, hard to say. I enjoy food from quite literally everywhere.
You should try to use an egg loop knot. It allows you to bait the hook, then cinch it down with the line. Some baits are really soft and will break so dont cinch it down too much.
Looking good dude. That diet is working!
That bait wont last for long if i come by :D That´s some gooooood stuff Leo
Love the vids Leo can’t wait to watch this one
EPF thanks for another cool vid, always enjoy watching you e-slaying 😎👍🏼👌🏼 Have you tried using a thin white cotton thread to tie the bait to the hook? It should do the trick.
I wonder if an egg loop style knot would help keep the oyster on the line
Love the theme of this video👍🏽👍🏽
Tie some thread around the bait around the hook. It will help your bait stay on better
You should try using Asari , im sure that will stay on the hook better
Olá Leo, eu sou brasileiro e acompanho seu canal, gosto bastante dos vídeos e dicas que você dá sobre as espécies e como capturar elas, tenho vontade de ser um "Lifelister" um dia com as espécies daqui do Brasil!
Yeah our weather in the sound is nuts
These intro always like a old mystery movie lol
Fogo De Chao is expensive af. That's only for special occasions lol
Yo, for shaggy and fragile bait like the oyster there is that elastic to press it right? We call it elastricô in Portuguese, I always use it when using Rotten shrimp to catch sea catfish p3p
my go to is worm or shrimp on a size 12 or 16, believe me, it catches everything, salt or fresh
Been fishing barbless for a few years. Find I have much better luck with a more moderate action rod as long as I can get, at least 7ft.
MISS YOUR VIDS MAN WHERE YOU BEEN PEACE FROM DA NORTHEAST BEARDED FISHERMAN!!
Leo, are u gonna do any squidding?
Should do some salmon fishing... it is pink salmon year
Another bait that works well here in the Puget Sound is razor clam necks.
Sweet.
Sepultura rules!! 🤘🤘
Cool intro bro.
Leo ,I'm surprised your bait didn't attract aggressive sea-chickens.
Ayyyy nice shrimp
Have more fish been coming off than normal I’ve never fished with barbless hooks before
Hopefully you go for some larger species.
man you cant beat eggs and sausage or eggs n bacon just too good
You can cast half ounce weight on ultralight?
Where I'm from we call them pile perch or shiners
You should try squid, epf
Maybe a type of flounder.
Why did he need to immediately release the rockfish?
Hey man, at least the continental breakfast has eggs and sausage. Some hotels just throw some little prepackaged things of cereal at you.
That was a legit free breakfast I say.. I agree with that muffin n cereal type places
My favorite dish is Captain Morgan
Veiw 93. Comment 8. LEO my man lol the dink master. Yes my answer to your video headline is yes. 20 seconds in... I'm betting 4 new species.
Well 1 new species... but lost another so. Next time try chicken skin, squid strips, tenticals, and beef liver.
Elastic bait thread 🧵🧵🧵🥺
mans fishing in silent hill XD
Dont forget, Leo. Next time you're up here we're catching smallies. The biiiiiiig mamas. You'll no longer be the master of only dinks, but hogs too! They cannot outsmart these Asians!
Gotta take it easy on the hotel breakfast you can't be having a repeat of the mask situation like in Indiana and the darters.
What is your favorite fish to catch
Pizza. It would be pizza. I'd look like Jabba the Hut before too long.
Have you ever tried bait elastics? This would solve your oyster problem
EPF when are you going for bigger species? Been waiting for it.
Not first but I tried 😂
Shiner perch are the plague..
First thing I woulda done is dehydrate all that bait in pickling salt..
Use some ripped panty hose or bait sacs for those oysters and mussels….will keep it on the hook like some globby squid
yo leo your in my area would you like to meet up?
2nd
Nope
Edmonds Pier is not a good place for fishing......and crabbing.
If diversity eats diversity It could be a balanced diet
First
Congratulations on being first! Fast Fingers!
Bruh there are a bunch of salmon around you.. You don't have the pink salmon, coho, or chinook! Get out there!
