I think the parts separator tool is more aimed towards gundam builds where the tool can be used to separate the press fit parts rather than removing parts from the frame. Nice review and definitely a couple of interesting wee bits n pieces in it. Look forward to the next vid.
Parts separator is really for releasing/separating push fit parts such as those found in Gundam kits. Good starter set and review. (Similar comment wasn’t”t there when I was typing, sorry!)
No worries, the comments educate everyone! I'm kicking myself for not realising this myself lol Especially since I have struggled with disassembling things on Gundams a few times!
Hi Jen, Well I guess you have now worked out that the 'Parts Separator' is not for cutting parts off the sprue but in fact for Separating push fit parts as are heavily used in Gundam Kits...It also comes in quite handy for dismantling 'reluctant' Lego blocks which I use for making small jigs, as well as a multitude of other separating tasks where a fingernail does not quite cut the mustard! Yes they do also do other sizes in the carbon fibre boards, a 10mm & a 5mm (CB-10 & CB-5) as well as a 25mm wide one which has tapered / angled edges which is great for getting into small slots CFB-25.... as well as a set of very small ones CFB-01 to CFB-09 which have what they term 'Irregular' ends, thin sticks, tapers etc.. all very useful when the need arises.. In addition there is also a range of the glass files, The Siren Files, these included the SF-15, 16, 17 & 20 as well as the MSF-13. These single cut tempered glass files all work brilliantly at 'polishing' the edges of things especially clear parts and removing sprue nibs on clear parts, the equivalent grit grades are around #10000 to #12000. Also they do one called 'The Leviathan' a very expensive one made from ceramic which is specifically designed for removing sprue nibs but with leaving an almost perfect finish Infini also do a 'similar' range of these glass files in slightly different grades which another TH-camr Nigel Frampton loves... As every Engineer knows, there is no such thing as; and you can never have 'Too Many' Tools lol........
With the the thin single blade nippers, you're meant to follow a two cut process. Once off the sprue with a lesser quality nipper and then the nub with the the thin single blade nipper. Leaves less stress marks on the plastic.
To add to the other commentors that this tool kit appears aimed towards gundam builders, the cardboard packaging can form a triangle. You punch out the outlined sections, and you can use it to hold your sprues or frames of the kit you are building.
Hi Jen, PS.... If you have never used one then the DSPIAE "Static Electric Dust Removal Cloth for Sanding Residues" DC-25 really is a game changer! I was quite dubious at first as if this would work any better than just using my trouser leg or an old piece of denim, but wow what a game changer, it really works well... Makes a hell of a difference cleaning up sanding boards, foams etc... Really does what it says on the tin.... For about £3 they are fantastic... Note though that you 'cannot' wash them like other microfibre cloths, even at low temp like 20C, they just don't work the same after. I have found that giving it a good shake and a bash against something hard knocks out the bulk of the residue and then a good blow with an airline works great though. 👍👍 😃
Hi, enjoyed this very much. I am a returnee to the hobby after maybe 40 years and boy have things changed!! I discovered DSPAIE and loved it from the get go, I didn't know this kit existed and by the time I did I had most of it anyway!!!! Like you I don't get the 'parts remover' too aggressive and why is it needed anyway? So many good items in DSPAIE line and most worth the price!? I do like to come across a Brit so I have liked and subbed so I guess I shall be listening/watching again Bob England
I m very curious to see how well that calgraphy pen panel liner thingy works.... I might have to inivest in one, or the whole kit! For when I DEPART the house and go build somewhere like a hotel room or the museum!😄 PS, their flexible sanding sticks cut very easily into thinner strips for detail sanding areas!

Well that makes perfect sense now you mention it lol

This looks like it would be very handy for the Gundam build nights one of the local hobby shops puts on once a week!
