Ever get a cast iron you cant keep the water warm. Iron drains the heat to fast. The reason tubs have become popular again is about 20 years ago thwy stared making fiberglass tubs that dont soak the heat up. To have thw best set up you need to be able to put gear in the floor below them. They make dedicated heaters and air pumps for them now. The best filler is the Kohler unit that mounts in the ceiling and spins the water.
I'm a soaker, so I love them. We have the original cast Iron claw foot in my master. I can't tell you how many people offer to buy it. the answer is always NO.
I have one. A slipper tub. It's lovely and my husband and I race for the bathroom to see who gets the tub first! (We are in our late 60's) I wouldn't want anything else now!
Love it. Hope you reenforced the floor!

I have one. A hip tub. I love it.
It would be a dream to have one. I hope to one day!
Love. LOVE!
I hate those tubs. Ick. Can't stand claw footed tubs, either. They're ugly and look like gravy boats. Glad you all like them, though.
