I love when they stay hugged against the substrate over shooting up into the water column. I only have the wendtii green version but will be getting different types very soon. I was told higher light keeps the wendtii green low n wide.. 👍👍
@@LushSaltyAquariums yes it can. I was struggling with algae for a while but then I decided to run my lights at the lowest of the 3 settings (plant, white, both) so plant only mode and it's starting to die off thankfully. I don't really mind the green stuff it's the black beard I want gone.
I had the C. aponogetifolia which is a broader and lengthier species. It's like having a Valisneria but the leaves are broad and with lots of textures, reason why I had them. They were growing from end to end though, dimming the light for the other plants so I had to try and remove some leaves. Unfortunately, they didn't like that move and just melted all over and never bounced back.
@LushSaltyAquariums I would've done that if the roots were as shallow as the Wendtii's, but they're much larger and root really deep and adventitiously. Pulling a single rosette will disturb an almost half foot diameter and 2-3 inches deep soil (maybe, even deeper if I had a deeper setup). I avoid them as of now, but if ever I will have the opportunity to get a larger tank in the future, I'd try them again.
@@robinmelendez201 I believe you mean crypt “balancae” and if it’s not at your local LFS (likely isn’t) what I do is google the plant name and see which online sellers have it and then compare notes. Does this help?
amazing plants and fishes! Love the red fishes.
@@christinemontet7974 thank you!

I heard the same thing regarding high light. However, algae can be a problem with slow growers, at least initially.

My other Crypts are creating a forest, which I love, but now they have to be trimmed back. I usually remove plants vs cutting leaves.
