Still here in 2020.. who else? :) She just gets me, every time. Love this song, Love her. Love that Hugh fought for her and how she makes this song fight for everyone. Would love for The Graham Norton show to publish the full applause for her because i heard it went on for a while...
I love that she started the performance quite nervous, and it's almost as if the lyrics of the song empowered her and she delivered that incredible performance. Amazing.
The fact that no one has been able to do a good enough cover of this song shows the unique talent of Keala. Hugh Jackman lives the PT Barnum character as he too discovers talents.
She's belting out while her other hand is in her pocket.... She's an absolute fighter and singer packed with overflowing emotions.. Gosh I love her and this song... I always cry like a baby whenever I watch her sing this
I love how she just stands there and performs with her hand in her pocket like it’s no big deal. She makes it look effortless. Her voice is amazing, I love this song and it became my favourite when I heard it for the fist time. Can’t wait to see more of her, hope she gets more big roles, ‘cause she is amazing.
I mean she was already in waitress and now this which were both kinda big in their own right so shes already there but hell yeah she rocks we will definitely be seeing her more
I just love how, despite all of the fame that she has experienced, she is still true to herself and is very humble. I have heard her tell the same story of how she didn't want to be noticed, to the part where Hugh discovered her, to the part the director bought the liquor in order for her to sing the song and make it hers... But I have never gotten bored of hearing that same tale. She's so inspiring! And if you noticed, she was still so nervous when singing the song in the beginning of the performance but when the chorus came, she finally went into full Keala Mode and sang the sh!t out of that song like she meant every single word of it. I have nothing but RESPECT for this truly extraordinary person.
My son was bullied in school at 14 years of age ,ruined his life,he gave up on everything and still at the age of 20 he is struggling with anxiety hate seeing the pain in his eyes but I live for the day when he becomes who he wants to be. ❤️

The best to you both.
@sherylturner9766 Thank you only these last few months he is starting to find himself and laugh and smile again. It has been a long hard road but he is getting there.
the story graham was trying to get out of her was that her performance at the greenlight workshop was so powerful that the fox exec stood up right after and said “you just booked your first major motion picture” and I love that she was too humble to say that but I would have killed to see everyone’s reaction to that story
Louise Barrowman 20th century fox TH-cam had the video of them preforming to get the green light for the film. It’s super powerful, and it will bring you to tears.
This has become one of my favorite songs in the whole world. If you were being bullied or have been bullied and/or you are going through emotional distress please listen to this song - it is for you!
Most humans are not as innocent as this song sounds imagine a bully liking this kinda music and singing it my trust issues would become worse but I’ll try looking the brighter side and hope for them to cure themselves and I myself be careful too every moment of my life
Having a son with special needs and working with Special Olympics for many years my son heard this and said "Mom, this could be our song!" for he and his friends. Makes me tear up every time I hear it!
This is the anthem for every single human being who has ever felt marginalised, pushed aside, outcast. Me, your son and his friends...so many people. Tell your son and his friends to learn it and sing it anytime they feel as if they're being pushed aside, anytime they're told, 'you don't fit, you don't belong,' and to sing it loud and proud.
Sherry Grobaski I have Spina Bifida and this song makes me sob every time. Being disabled and treated so horribly by society, it just hits way too close to home.
+Sherry Grobaski OMG this made me cry . so awesome. Bless you and your son. Fell in love with this song because being considered disabled myself, on top of identifying as gay and a minority, I felt like this was my anthem too. I hope your son will carry this song's message in his heart and refused to be torn down and shamed or let anything stand in his way of success.
Anthem for anyone who was bullied because of their Race, Skin colour, Disability,Gender, Religion or just being bullied for any made up reason by an idiot.
I am 62 years old and my 15 year old granddaughter invited me to go to the show with her (which is flattering all on its own, how many 15 year olds want to be seen at the show with their Grandma) I fell in love with the movie. But when the song This is Me played, I was in tears by the time it ended. It captured every moment of doubt, insecurities, fears, and feelings of failure from the age of 12 to to now at the age of 62. Where I still don’t fit the expected role of Mother, Grandmother, and Wife of 43 years. I am still marching to my own drum and I am still getting bruised, but I am who I am and through the years I have learned to love and appreciate myself. This incredible song and her incredible delivery of it, combined with her obvious belief in the lyrics is a gift to the young people who don’t fit the “right mold”. My granddaughter has seen the movie 10 times now and has memorized the soundtrack from the movie. But this song has definitely become her personal anthem. She stands taller, holds her head higher and doesn’t let her sister and sisters friends bully her the way they did before she heard this song. With many thanks to the composers and most of all to the incredible woman who delivered this message of hope and belief to all of those who march on their own terms. Thank-you.
Katy Bass i watched the movie for the first time lastnight and just like you the tears flowed, when this lady belted that song out ot was like she was singing about me. She is outstanding
She is singing from some place in her past that she needed to let loose….and she absolutely killed it! This was so cathartic for her and speaks to so many people through song. All you can say is” Thank you”. That was fantastic.
This is definitely keala's best version of this song you can hear how powerful her voice is. If u watch the workshop video then this one I think they both show little glimpses of the person she is as in the workshop one they talked about how she was so nervous she didn't want to stand out in the middle to sing this one she had to be really encouraged and at the beginning she was really quiet and timid in her singing but once she got into it she went for it and got really emotional so u can see that this song is personal for her and in this video after she see's the audience's response at the end I think she gets a bit embarrassed and shy and went Graham tells her the audience haven't responded like that in ages and she said is that gud? just shows how down to earth as a person she is and no matter how successful she is now thanks to this song it hasn't gone to her head which I think makes so many people respect her and they can relate to her thru this song. Amazing woman!!
Emma Adams The competition for theater jobs is so fierce, to have made a living at it for 20+ years in NY already tells us how special she is. I don't think enough of us see live musical theater anymore, we have forgotten what it is like to be in the same space as those amazing voices projecting powerful emotions backed up by a wall of sound on the harmonies that you physically feel, not just hear with your ears. The audience rediscovered that power in this moment. Kudos to everyone involved, this movie was as close as you will ever get to that experience.
It blows my mind that there is such talent as this in the world and their names are barely known. Especially compared to what's on the radio these days. Keep doing what you are doing. You have a beautiful soul and a beautiful voice and the whole world deserves to hear it and know who you are!
This. This is the most accurate comment I've ever seen. Also everyone wants cover songs if you're in a band. In the 70s, you toured pubs with original music that you had made made with your own hands and that's how you got known. Not autotuned, 20 writers for 4 lines of lyrics rubbish! This is music.
I will never get over that amazing intense look in her eyes. She brings so much passion to a song that was already so incredibly crafted. Love everything about this.
Victoria Ashby because people can't appreciate good music or talent they rather listen to trash than quality like this amazing sound track of the most amazing movie 🤗😘
this song still brings tears to my eyes each and everytime ive watched this movie..yes ive seen it many times by now and will be watching it many more times to come
Ronnie Franklin Actually she can't and won't win because she's not even nominated. The Oscar for Best Original Song honors the songwriters not the singer, so even if the song won, the award would go to the two gentlemen who wrote the song, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (who also wrote City of Stars, the song that won last year), and not to Keala.
Best performance on this show ever. When I heard this song for the first time I was in tears as it rang so true to me. Being a disabled person some times you feel like no one will love your broken parts. And not everyone will. But those who you can call family will love you no matter what physical attributes you have or don’t have ❤️ love wins
Nick, somewhere inside we ALL have those broken parts and scars, which is why this song is raging around the world. It resonates with that part of each and every one of us that wants love and acceptance for just the way that we are. I work at a non-profit for the disabled and let me tell you, I've never met someone with a "challenge" that didn't have a beautiful soul. Fire tempers the steel inside, burns away the doubt and BS, and leaves behind a beautiful soul. Stay true to who you are and F the world when it hammers at you because you deserve that love.
Nick Birzo I’m disabled and I get what you are saying. You think that no one cares and you doubt yourself a lot. I find myself feeling miserable because I notice every flaw that I have including my face. It droops to one side because I have epilepsy. We are all broken in some way and scars are left behind on our bodies that can’t be seen. The choice I chose was positivity because it can lead to happiness and yes, I get bullied for my disability but I focus on the positive things in life and I stay strong. I cried when I heard this song as well and I am so glad that I have my family here with me because they care for you a lot even though we may not notice it. Love always wins ❤️
I completely understand. I am also disabled and it took me a long time to embrace my perfectly imperfect self. I have a husband, three children, and three cats (they count too!) that love me and all my broken parts but I am also a blogger trying to do my creative thing. I put myself out there for all to see and many times despite my ability to be brave often, I find myself wondering if I will ever be accepted as I am. This song always makes me cry because its true..this is me. We have to accept all our scars and find the beauty in them and move forward. Heres to all of us doing that!
I had the AMAZING privilege of seeing her as Madame Thenardier in Les Mis on Broadway. I knew right then she was a star. I wanna say that was 2 or 3 years ago now, and I am SOOOO glad she is finally being realized for her talent and skill. I love her with my whole heart!
I’m pretty sure she originally revived the role, but I’m not 100% sure. She was there with Ramin and Samantha Hill, and I think she stayed for a little while after Ramin left, which is when I saw her. But idk for how long for. 😊
Unfortunately morons exist... but fortunately enough they are an absolute minority as 99.999999 percent of us love both the song and the interpretation of it by Keala !
She's been a pretty big deal on Broadway for a long time. Now the rest of the world knows. Broadway ain't movie biz money but damn if there isn't a ridiculous amount of "unknown" talent on stage. This song and her performance of it... I knew it'd be Oscar nominated the second I heard it (at Elsie Fest last year)... About 100x better than what Paul and Pasek won for last year.
No malice intended, but genuinely to my ears this is just an over hyped shout, scream and screech feast. The deterioration begins half way, the song does build and grow, but not in a melodic good way.
@@LadyPercy. That’s meant to be loud and all screaming because that’s what song is about: Realizing things, being able to express yourself, embracing freedom and shouting to the world that “this is who I meant to be, this is me!”. It’s full of emotions, and if you had watched some dramatic and emotional musicals, the tune, power/softness, everything goes with what the lyrics want to convey.
but understand...each time a singer sings...there are external factors that affect a performance, as well as...not every time is going to be spot on....she's not lip syncing it....give props where they are do.
this was a life time bucket list moment for her! But she's performed in front of many over 2 decades on Broadway...I am going to side on giving her the benefit of the doubt...no song is ever going to be perfect as the recording...my favorite version of hers is from the Graham Norton Show....it was incredible! :)
No one, absolutely no one, could sing this song better than her. I cry a little whenever I hear her sing this song. She's not just singing, she's not just performing, she's declaring, she's proclaiming for all the people in the world who feel inadequate.
Now that's what you call a performer. I'm sure we can all relate to this song somehow - she's just amazing along with the backing singer's. Goosebumps or what!
The anthem for everyone who was told they weren't quite enough.
I was just telling my sister that this is my "Fight Song" this year. :) The first time I saw it brought tears to my eyes for this exact reason.

The fact that Hugh cares for her so much makes my heart so happy, my husband believes in me the same way and I am so blessed. Everyone needs that support
Unfortunately, NOT all of us are that privileged, but we keep pushing to try and find it.
This womans Voice, her presence is SO touching!! I've got goosebumps and GLORYbumbs dancing all over my skin!!
part of me is sad everytime i heard her sing
me too
I feel the same...
This song makes me tear up every time I hear it. It has become my 2018 anthem! She has an incredible voice. She is gorgeous and has an amazing soul! The movie is awesome!
I get major chills and some tears listening to her sing this.

Still here in 2020.. who else? :) She just gets me, every time. Love this song, Love her. Love that Hugh fought for her and how she makes this song fight for everyone. Would love for The Graham Norton show to publish the full applause for her because i heard it went on for a while...

October 2021
I love that she started the performance quite nervous, and it's almost as if the lyrics of the song empowered her and she delivered that incredible performance. Amazing.
4:10 her smile is so genuine and beautiful
@Erik D meaning?,,
Kosi Echesirim I watched this twice didn’t realize it was 9 minutes long 😂
@@loganwhitehead3310 her voice kept you like a siren song bruh....I've been here for days
Logan Whitehead Damn, I just looked at the time. I can’t believe I’ve watched this 4x already.
“And I know I deserve your love” that really hit me
Watching this performance as Keala sings proves again how the Academy got it wrong. 8.6 million people got it right. Thank You Keala
Amazing song amazing lady
Yes!!!! Now is up to 10.6 millions!!!
when she SING it, it mean SHE REALLY MEAN “THIS IS HER”. Because her confident in HER SINGING
The fact that no one has been able to do a good enough cover of this song shows the unique talent of Keala. Hugh Jackman lives the PT Barnum character as he too discovers talents.
Calling Hugh PT Barnum is quite insulting. PT Barnum was NOT a good person...
I’m literally amazed every time I head those high notes that she sings. Everything about this woman is pure talent
Aja Kadlubowski I love the words to the song but those high notes shake the heavens. She sounds like Martha Wash in those really high notes.
"There's nothing I'm not worthy of" shakes me everytime.
That line kills me too... hits too close to home.
She's belting out while her other hand is in her pocket.... She's an absolute fighter and singer packed with overflowing emotions.. Gosh I love her and this song... I always cry like a baby whenever I watch her sing this
I really hope that they do the choreography at the oscar! I probably will cry a lot
Pedro sena i really want zendaya to be in the choreography at the oscars!!!
ME TOO!!!!
I know that this will not happen, but if i could choice, i would put they with the clothes from the movie!
Ugh if they don't I'll be so gutted😭 but I'll still watch for her performance lol
hahahah
me too!!! But we know one thing that we can wait: Keala showing how to sing! because her voice its something out of this world!
YEEEESSSSS
I love how she just stands there and performs with her hand in her pocket like it’s no big deal. She makes it look effortless. Her voice is amazing, I love this song and it became my favourite when I heard it for the fist time. Can’t wait to see more of her, hope she gets more big roles, ‘cause she is amazing.
Agree! She makes it look easy. They couldn’t have chosen a better person.
Totally agree with you!
I mean she was already in waitress and now this which were both kinda big in their own right so shes already there but hell yeah she rocks we will definitely be seeing her more
Sanne Derks same here loved it feeling happy and Content listening to this song
“I was successfully hiding from the world”
*She’s one of us*
Many years later and this song still gives me goosebumps
Dear Hugh Jackman,
Thank you.

DVD 👨❤❤🏠🌙
Joey Chen I totally agree with you! She is awesome 👏
3:35 Her beautiful smile after "this is me" ... I'm melting. She's wonderful.
mad world its almost as if she still cant believe it.
I know... awwww 😍😭
My son was bullied in school at 14 years of age ,ruined his life,he gave up on everything and still at the age of 20 he is struggling with anxiety hate seeing the pain in his eyes but I live for the day when he becomes who he wants to be. ❤️
I hope your son finds strength and joy real sson. I know this post was 3 years ago,yet I hope there has beeen some progress. I know everyone is not made better or healed from a song, but I can tell you, this song changed me immensely. Hope he stands tall with a smile and knows he is worthy to be free of any pain and anxiety. Best wishes for the both of you and hope the light returns to his eyes soon, hopefully even now. The best to you both.
@sherylturner9766 Thank you only these last few months he is starting to find himself and laugh and smile again. It has been a long hard road but he is getting there.
the story graham was trying to get out of her was that her performance at the greenlight workshop was so powerful that the fox exec stood up right after and said “you just booked your first major motion picture”
and I love that she was too humble to say that but I would have killed to see everyone’s reaction to that story
pinoeshair Hey, where did u see that? Would love to see that!😊
Look up Hugh Jackman's appearance on one of the late night shows, I forget which one. He told the story there and another talk show as well.
He tells it in his appearance on Jimmy Fallon, for sure.
Bless
Louise Barrowman 20th century fox TH-cam had the video of them preforming to get the green light for the film. It’s super powerful, and it will bring you to tears.
This has become one of my favorite songs in the whole world. If you were being bullied or have been bullied and/or you are going through emotional distress please listen to this song - it is for you!
Agreed with you sir
Brett Roberts I’m disabled and this whole movie is basically my life experience. I can’t watch the movie or listen to this song without crying.
No matter what your going through. You are beautiful inside and out. Don’t ever change for the world. You are one in a billion ❤️
Empowering song!!
I hardly pray for your son and your family's greatest achievements for the years to come. :D God bless.
For they are glorious!
😭
She is outstanding
i don't understand why this did not win the oscars
Probably because the story itself is a homage to the unpolitical correctness. The story is a homage to the outcast, ugly and freak people.
I can tell she absolutely loves to sing this song and that what makes it sounds soooooo good
She is singing from some place in her past that she needed to let loose….and she absolutely killed it!
O
The workshop video is so powerful its a movie in itself. I just feel like this song was made for her!
@ Lisa Del I believe it was written for her voice.
I think the recording was the best you need to watch it it's so touching and beautiful
So true!
You right sir
Michael Cork definitely would listen to her music should she end up getting a record deal.
Cardi b overrated
*Preach it Sister! Nobody could sing it like Keala!*
Sunny Days Katrina Velarde can sing it, but without feel and no interpretation (she just sing). So for me, keala settle is the best. 😊
200th like 😁😁❤️
Lauren griffiths 👍Hi Lauren thanks so much never expected this many likes.
The only song that can bring me to tears endlessly as soon as I hear the words "I am not a stranger to the dark..." 😭
Damn I love that song. And the thing is, IT IS HER FAULT. The song is so so so amazing because of her and how well she conveys that beautiful message
I will never get over that amazing intense look in her eyes. She brings so much passion to a song that was already so incredibly crafted. Love everything about this.
That is so true and amazing
Thats Maori people for you we are passionate in everything we do! TE HEI MAURI ORA
why does my heart feel that its about to explode whenever I watch Keala sing this....
100%
The look on her face when she finishes, and the crowd is deafening, my goodness.
cant understand why people dislike this
Victoria Ashby because they are missing love in their heart
Victoria Ashby because people can't appreciate good music or talent they rather listen to trash than quality like this amazing sound track of the most amazing movie 🤗😘
Buthurt cause they sound like a dying cat
Their just expressing what they dislike, this is what they are. It's a little hypocritical to say what you said considering the song and it's meaning.
Their not ready yet
Oh my God. She sang the song live perfectly as it is in studio version. Much respect for this woman!
benhp23 because she's a Broadway actress. And she has pipes that can sing loud and proud 2 shows a day 6 days a week!
this song still brings tears to my eyes each and everytime ive watched this movie..yes ive seen it many times by now and will be watching it many more times to come
Could you please tell me the name of the movie??
If she doesn’t win an Oscar, I’m going to riot.
You big silly, no you won't!
Liche Christ boycott, petition. It’s basically a crime. XD
She won
And she didn't won
I am psyched for that Oscar performance!!
YEAH! I JUST CAN WAIT!!!!
I'm actually jealous of Saoirse Ronan getting to see the live performance of the song twice, here & at the Oscars!
I love this girl, she has done more for abused women than she may know! Just love you.
Yes..she is awesome
Well, just abused people in general but yeah.
vocals exceeds any expectation! Truly one of the best singers on the planet
She Is the music that she performs, that's it.
Daffny Laurito thanks you made my day a lot brighter!
Nick Birzo im with you on that
I had the AMAZING privilege of seeing her as Madame Thenardier in Les Mis on Broadway. I knew right then she was a star. I wanna say that was 2 or 3 years ago now, and I am SOOOO glad she is finally being realized for her talent and skill. I love her with my whole heart!
YYEEESSSS!
Do you know if she was Mme Thenardier in 2014? I saw Les Mis on Broadway that year and it would be amazing to know I saw her without realising it.
I’m pretty sure she originally revived the role, but I’m not 100% sure. She was there with Ramin and Samantha Hill, and I think she stayed for a little while after Ramin left, which is when I saw her. But idk for how long for. 😊
Yes, yes she was there in 2014! was super lucky to see her back then too. Such a humble beautiful soul, and such power!
How lucky! I can only imagine how fabulous she must have been!!
She seams like such a nice person, she deserves every good thing in life. You Go Keala!
She is a very genuine, grounded, humble, and all of the above person. If you love Keala you most definitely will love her family!
Jasmine Diva you sound like a nice person too. :)
Jasmine Diva I guarantee that she does seam like a very nice person, she's an excellent seamstress.
It's been almost 7 years since this performance. and it still gets emotional!!!!😍 😍
I am honestly SO jealous of her voice, no one can sing like that without editing. Shes awesome!!!!!!!
Sooooo....ummm... here in 2019
This is still AMAZING. 👌🏾💯
Here in 2020 and it's STILL amazing! 💚💚
Can’t believe there are people who put dislike on this song.
They don't matter.
Unfortunately morons exist... but fortunately enough they are an absolute minority as 99.999999 percent of us love both the song and the interpretation of it by Keala !
Some folk are also just that sad, they even though they like a song, they will hit dislike just because they can
I'm a metal head and I admit her vocals rock 🤟
Dont have to. just accept. Taste question 🤷♀️
Hearing her sing gave me chills. She is a very good singer
No, she's an outstanding singer
This is so great! I love this woman for stepping out from behind that music stand!
Watch the Green Light "audition". She literally stepped out from behind the music stand. It is so emotional.
I love her stepping out the way she did. When she was shaking so hard & grabbed Hughs hand you could see them both so emotional.
Gets. Me. Every time !!
Instant classic. Legendary. As Chancellor Palpatine might say, "We will watch her career with great interest."
She is quite possibly the best vocalist I've ever heard in my life, absolutely incredible
U don’t listen to music do u?
No malice intended, but genuinely to my ears this is just an over hyped shout, scream and screech feast. The deterioration begins half way, the song does build and grow, but not in a melodic good way.
@@LadyPercy. That’s meant to be loud and all screaming because that’s what song is about: Realizing things, being able to express yourself, embracing freedom and shouting to the world that “this is who I meant to be, this is me!”. It’s full of emotions, and if you had watched some dramatic and emotional musicals, the tune, power/softness, everything goes with what the lyrics want to convey.
@@LadyPercy. I understand, it’s like how Latrice performed “Natural Woman”, it’s so simple yet powerful. But yeah, it all comes down to preference.
Jesus, i am crying. Never did bevor hearing a song....
SHE KILLED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She did.
Now she’s a TRUE singer and performer 😍
Her vocals in here is far more better than of the oscar performance. Insane!
but understand...each time a singer sings...there are external factors that affect a performance, as well as...not every time is going to be spot on....she's not lip syncing it....give props where they are do.
Lori Coleman
No excuses! She can SING!!
Think her nerves got her at the oscars yeah she sounds much better here
this was a life time bucket list moment for her! But she's performed in front of many over 2 decades on Broadway...I am going to side on giving her the benefit of the doubt...no song is ever going to be perfect as the recording...my favorite version of hers is from the Graham Norton Show....it was incredible! :)
She clearly gains confidence each time she sings it. Can see it in her face that it means a lot to her
I cant believe that this song did not win the best original song award honestly
Oscar nominated. It should and needs to win!
Kristine Hesse yes it should
You can see her slowly building strength and delivering the song with all she got . Beautiful.
Aaaaarrrrgggghhh! I cant decide which i love more...Never Enough or This is Me
They are both great! Hard to pick!
''porque no los dos'' haha~ both beautiful!!
This is me, no question.
Never Enough is amazing but only the final performance pulled my heart strings. I cry every time I hear This is Me.
I know right. I just listen to them both over and over.
No one, absolutely no one, could sing this song better than her. I cry a little whenever I hear her sing this song. She's not just singing, she's not just performing, she's declaring, she's proclaiming for all the people in the world who feel inadequate.
Seen the film 5 times now 💞 thanks to the cast and especially Hugh Jackman for bringing the greatest showman and musical movie ever to us
I have now seen it 14 times and will continue to see it until they remove it from my local theatres. Love it!!
hope you guys have moviepass. :)
Seen it once and I’m waiting for the blu-ray since I’m too poor too see it again
get moviepass and watch it every day if you want.
daveheel my local cinema doesn’t have moviepass
Now that's what you call a performer. I'm sure we can all relate to this song somehow - she's just amazing along with the backing singer's. Goosebumps or what!
I'm Japanese.
I love this song which sung by her.
Her voice is great. I'm happy to meet this song. I'm not able to write English. Sorry
You wrote well and expressed your feelings about the song beautifully.
良くやりました。頑張ったんですね!
You don’t need to sorry for that. Music just conected us in the world no matter language and races. Big big love to you
When the song starts to soften with the red lights that little smile was everything
