Brought a huge smile to my face for many reasons!! My friend bk in the 70s stepdad had this exact car with red walls! We would sneak it out! Push it out the garage just as this 1 rolled out less being started for obvious reasons! He inherited it later on!!We were 15yrs old in 75 sat nights we were so dam cool! So dam stupid tooo lol

death by a thousand cuts as manufacturers looked for ways to build things cheaper, lost market share due to entrenched people & ways of thinking and foreign competition. WHAT'S good for GM is good for the country.
I owned one it was heavy with a cast iron motor and sheared the camshaft plastic coating on the gear. Water pump failed at 50k. Loved the looks but it handled horribly on curved roads. Nice street car and a girl magnet. Matching numbers will fetch good money these days.

I do find that certain year GTO are better expressed in darker colors. Blacks, blues, greens etc. Darker shades.

I learned to drive with one almost like this one... mine had a high scoop on the hood red and white bucket seats candy apple red 4 on the floor with glass packs❤ its a sweet ride hate I sold it, my loss.😢

When my husbend and I were dating in the 70s. He owned a 67 Pontiac GTO. It was candy apple red, glass packs, creigers, and 1/2 vinyl top. ❤ I don't have any photos of it but every day he wiped it down with a shimmy. It was his other girlfriend he told me. Batching car and sadly just before we were married he blew the engine trying to race a corvette. He couldn't afford to have a new engine put in so he sold it at that time for $2000😢 Today it is well worth thousands of dollars.😢

It's missing a couple of pieces of trim. Both sides between the rear wheel and bumper
You need some Hooker headers 18 in of pipe in behind that you need some hush-thrush header mufflers. Then you got your sound.
