Note: No other characters than the ones in video talk about who gave them the vision. The characters in video are the only ones that do. That is why there are not all 40 characters in the video.
Could it be the Englist text got censored… um, modified? And they mean God? Klee is the one who specifically said Barbatos. While Sara might have been refering to Delusion instead of Vision, considering Ei herself never will or not willed a Vision / God's Eye to be given.

The most interesting thins then, is why there have been no electro visions granted for the past several years. Most people assumed it was Baal, and that the vision hunt decree supported that she didn't want new visions. If she is not responsible for distributing them, why has there been no new electro visions?
1 Possible explanation is the Twin Electro gods. Baal lost her twin, and when the Fatui came to Inazuma she had not been using the Gnosis for YEARS. It may not be a simple correlation but actual causation, that if no one "bears" a Gnosis, that no visions are granted of that element.
Since the Visions are NOT granted by the Archons, it is implied they are granted by Celestia. It has been said that the Visions are a mark that the bearer is being watched by the gods and can ascend to godhood. It may be that the Ice Archon's plan is, in part, to collect the Gnosis to STOP the distribution of Visions. Thus denying Celestia....something. Power? Pawns? Viewports into the world?

@@KemarRaijin it could be that if you're not aligned with the "vision" of that archon, you won't get it. Bennett, Xiangling, Xinyan and Yoimiya are passionate about something, same goes for klee about her innocent passion about bombs but idk about diluc. No electro vision has spawned or appeared on teyvat because no one else wants an eternal stillness, just like the current electro archon. It's all just big "ifs" at this time though.
I love how Yoimiya just used her Pyro vision as Tinder for fire and threw it in the storage room before her father told her what it was.

So many characters had that kind of outlook when they got theirs. It makes me wonder how exactly they "manifest" into existence and how they look like originally.. They're super big and smooth with an obvious Elemental symbol on them, and barely any of them recognized it as is despite probably being surrounded by people who wield them?

the most interesting in baal voiceline is that there is another condition for a person to receive a vision and no matter how high their desire for a vision is, they will still not be granted a vision if the other is not fulfill
yes finally that line. someone was being stubborn about MC's Ambition of reuniting with twin is not that great that why they can't have Vision just because Yae Miko said: "It maybe that its not ambition but a goal" (or something similar to that) like its a biblical fact 😆

The Traveler makes their way towards one of Fontaine's Archon statues to gain the hydro element, when they're suddenly caught and locked up in jail. No matter what element they have, they're unable to escape. When just as they were about to give up, they get granted a Vision just to move the interesting story forwards. Then when the Traveler least expects it, the Vision disappears from their grasp, making them wonder what happened.
It's a dumb lil story and ik it'd be dumb to give the Traveler a vision if they can control it all anyways, but it'd make for a strange but epic twist of fate that could allow us to learn a lil more about Celestia.

I love how we are a year into the game, and we have ALL this "evidence" to support the theory that archons grant visions....
and its literally thrown out by ONE line from the Raiden Shogun.
I mean, it would suck to be zhongli if archons gave vision cuz every geo vision user doesn't give a shit about it, and noelle even wanted it to be of another element. Rip CEO of Geo.
Tbh, she have took too long in her plane that it might just an old view of her, I still believe the Archons have some capacity regarding Vision, she did said there's more to it. since Ningguang have dream about Rex Lapis.
And the vision hunt decree out for a year and no vision for a year, maybe the absent of the real archon will make the responded element not appearing. think of admin, the Celestia just spawn it, but the archon aprove it.
It was actually quite obvious since 1.0 that the archons didn't give visions if you just applied some common sense to the stories of how the characters got their visions. Nearly all "evidence" of archons granting visions were just random people saying something they didn't actually know.
The only two instances of things that went against the "archons don't give visions" are the similarities between the characters with specific elements and the fact that for one year there were no electro visions anywhere else, but it wasn't particularly hard to make an explanation for that.

@@localfriendlycloud7720 it's not even in the story quest, it's in one of her character voice lines locked behind friendship level. Besides what is shown in the video the line implies that she knows more about it than she is willing or able to share with the traveller.

@@Saihamaru nah, she said she doesn't know anything, she has been an archon for around 500 yo and has seen Makoto's job as the first electro archon, and if she doesn't know then the other archon will probably don't know too. And if it's Makoto job,then how electro vision is still being granted even tho she is dead in the cataclysm
For me personally, the way Yoimiya used her vision has to be the funniest thing because she used as flint to light up fireworks and then just threw it in the storage lol.😂😂😂

There was another character before her, i think Xangling or Albedo attempted to boil their own vision as an experiment.
@@sundalosketch4769 surprisingly, that was Keqing. She thought that she didn’t need a vision so she tried everything she could to get rid of it. It didn’t work. She learned to embrace her vision and use it to help her in her duties

In her next story quest, which I assume will be the next weekly boss in Inazuma going off the trend Liyue and Mondstadt have, I think we may just get more answers. I don't think we will get too much because if course she is going to be less talkative about something so traumatic like the cataclysm. But I DO think she will be one of the more honest archons since so far she was one of the first archons who cut themselves off from Celestia. I'm very excited to hear what she has to say soon especially since we may get a quest similar to Zhongli's where a new weekly boss appears.
@@c.ccarlhead5744 it is as you say highly likely based on the recent trends, I agree. If you paid attention in the cleansing ritual quest, Miyuki (a shrine maiden of Narukami) revealed that the Thunder Sakura trees serve to suppress “the one who lies beneath”. Could this refer to another dragon? Or perhaps even more crazy, Beelzebul’s sister Baal in the form of a memory (just like Kazari). Who knows right? There are many possibilities!
@@AndreHansen96 omg that actually makes a LOT of sense! Even in the animated custscene of Ei explaining her backstory she says "the wounds of that terrible loss still are told in every shade of thunder sakura". That would be interesting if the next world boss is either Chiyo, or her sister?? Although I'm leaning on either Orabashi because presumably his voice was in people like Washizu's head. The voice was convincing Washizu to give sacrifices and every time he did the voice was *pleased* so I wonder if we could get a boss from that whirlpool area in Watatsumi. Perhaps an entity from Ekonomiya? Mighttt explain the unused drowning Traveler animation they showed long ago when teasing the first archon quest.
Honestly who knows but im super hyped to find out who the next weekly boss will be. Either way I'm sure they'll hurt me emotionally story-wise lol.
@@c.ccarlhead5744 totally :) At this point it’s just speculation, we will just have to wait and see :) but I have never been this emotionally invested in a quest before so I’m very curious how the next part will be. I find Raiden Shogun and the whole cultural aspect of Inazuma quite intriguing. There is so much mystery to it. I love it :)

Lesson learned: Just because someone believed the Archons gave them their Vision doesn't mean they are right. This still remains a mystery. That being said, what if it wasn't the gods or the Archons who gave it to them, but rather it manifested from the user themselves because how strong their ambitions are, way off independent to whoever give it to them. Because of how devout most of the characters to their Archon, they result to believing the Archons or gods gave it to them-- not realizing it was formed by themselves. Though, Celestia is strongly linked to the theory of giving Visions as of now.
So basically "you may be correct but that doesn't mean you're right"
It's quite clear though if read through character's story. There always part about how they get their vision. Summarize them up you will see that Visions are not given to them by anyone but achived by themselves. They are only awakened under special conditions.
People with visions are all allogenes and potential gods so it makes sense they might have the power within themselves and manifesting a vision is just the first step toward godhood.
You are mostly correct but not entirely, raiden does say that visions manifest from people's ambitions, but is then quickly to point out that there is another side to it as well (one that she isn't willing to share) so the strong ambition is only 1 of 2 conditions for getting a vision (the 2nd being either unknown or so frightening and confidential that even Ei doesn't dare elaborate on it).
@@101Mant this..opens up a very real possibility that the natural way of the world may just be that people can always reach power. They can reach it when put under pressure and intense conditions where their values shine. Kinda like the saying that you never truly know someone until they are in a dire situation then they reveal their true colors. If so, theres a possibility that Celestia wants to curate these gods and make it so a vision is a way for them to sort of spy on your progress to possible godhood. Hence, Venessa ascending to Celestia and looking shocked and disappointed.
Theres already plenty of theories talking about this but I'll summarize it very quickly, people think ascending to Celestia is basically being imprisoned because the Celestial gods percieve them as a threat to their principles. I found a theory attempting to debunk it by saying the electro archon refuses to give electro visions according to the Sumeru vision census report. But its pretty clear now the electro archon isn't in charge of giving out visions...that only leaves the question now. Then who IS refusing to give electro visions if not Ei??? Back to Celestia though maybe in order to maintain a system after the archon war where gods ran rampant all trying to gain the favor of Celestia through the gnosis, Celestia curated a system of 7 archons and people who would recieve visions but would quite reach the same level as archon lest there be another archon war?? Not sure but this new info from Ei is really intriguing
I love how the mystery of "who gives visions and how?" looks both like a lazy plot design and a well-thought plot design at the same time
Yup theres no way of knowing that they already decided that it was the Archons that give visions and by the time inazuma came they basically changed their minds
"Visions are granted to thos who have ambitions" is a lie crafted by Celestia. The true reason why someone is granted a vision is because the Celestia sees them as a "potential threat", and vision is a tool to put surveillance over them, hence the name "vision". The threat is that if these ambitious people were to left alone, they might seek the power of technology to achieve their ambitions, just like the people of Khaenriah. Any mortals aren't allowed to know about this. The less they know, the better

One more thing: yet buried in the depths lie smoldering remains, a warning to those who dare trespass. This could be hinting to the traveler or a punishment to those who wish to find out more things about the gods and celestia. That throne up in the sky is not reserved for you. But mortal arrogation never stops. Maybe hinting at people who expect to definitely ascend?
After Raiden's voiceline we no longer feel sad for Zhongli giving vision cuz most of them didn't "appreciate" it

I’d venture a guess to say that Noelle received a Geo Vision due to the fact that her loyalty and willingness to serve is as steadfast as the contracts made in Liyue. After all, when the Electro Archon took away people’s Visions, they lost their ambition … so wouldn’t it also hold true that a Vision is granted based on a person’s ambition?
It's canon (I think) that most of the visions go along with the character's Life, trauma, personality or etc
So, Yeah
For exmaple, Kaeya, Rosaria, Qiqi... Didn't have an easy life and experienced a Big trauma or suffered a lot
Pyro users have a very strong personlity, electro users tend to be more calm, but with strong convictions.
And the list goes on.
Vision itself grants the ambition to that person, in a way it's taking his freedom to be whatever he may become by forcing him unawarely to a path the Celestia gods have chosen for him. make no mistake even the archons who considered gods have a vision with a certain ambition to rule their region in a specific way. Venti who left Monstadt got weaker over time which means the Celestia gods who gave him that power can also take it back if they don't follow their role. Aether and Lumine are probably also gods of Celestia or children of one but that's another story.
@@sagi5826 It’s been said in the storyline of the game (don’t remember by who exactly, sorry!) that the gods see the ambitions of a person, and how fervent their wishes are, and grant them the power to realize their dreams. (I know I mis-quoted a few of the exact words eg, ‘fervent’, but the message reads overall as such)

I heard from another comment that anyone with a Cryo vision has to sacrifice something to adjust with the freezing cold temperature of the vision itself (hence Cryo representing ice), because if they didn't sacrifice anything or refused, they would simply die or not receive the vision at all. If this is incorrect please tell me!

I like how we're led to believe the archons grant visions because these characters' says so, while it might be the furthest from the truth.
Then the celestian stops distributing electro vision when the hunt decree is on, to cover their direct involvement
@@habibpines Thank the archons someone said this! I thoroughly believe that Celestia did exactly this! They knew of the Vision Hunt Decree and acted accordingly so that people continue to believe it is the Archons that grant visions.

it could be, but what i know sara still not even highest second only to raiden, she is only a kujou clan's (clan that focus in military for inazuma) army leader, and after newest archon quest she become kujou commision leader, but still the position is still same rank as the other commisions leader. but if follow the pattern, Yae could become the representative of the highest position second to Raiden. the problem is Yae has same position like dvalin/other adeptus, which is again, the logic become weird because each adeptus has different visions. but you know
But isn't the highest authority the ones representing their nation in teyvat chapter preview. With Diluc representing Mondstadt(richest person in monds also owning the most popular wine industry), Ningguang for Liyue(richest person in teyvat and is one of the liyue qixing), Ayaka for Inazuma(the daughter of the yashiro commisions, she's very popular in inazuma), only Cyno of sumeru can prove this if he also has high position in the country.

Genshin Impact has so many references to ancient philosophies like alchemy, gnosticism and hermeticism, so I'm pretty sure we will be baffled by the revelations that Celestia and Khaneri'ah will bring. Those references can be found even in event dialogues, such as Moonlight Merriment Quest 1 - Hu Tao. She describes how two opposite tastes can make a balanced and tasty meal -> hermeticism: principle of polarity. Even the Traveler mentioned her philosophical streak 😂
In the Noelle's second hang out event she says that Liyue is the land of her element or her vision, something like that. That makes sense now. Maybe she belives that the Geo archon gave the vision to her, not the Anemo archon.
Like the players, the characters seems to have distinct ideas about the visions.
Player: So, what you want to do in Liyue Noelle?
Noelle: Pry to his grave to take back my vision and then find a way to talk to the anemo archon for a new vision.

If archon does indeed gave the vision based on their respective elements, teyvat would probably be like avatar's universe, where each elements live in their region (earth kingdom, wind nomad, water tribe, fire nation)
And if archon gives vision to anyone under their region (barbatos mondstadt, rex lapis liyue, raiden inazuma) then why archons have elements? What it signifies?
I think in the first place mihoyo teams also thinking about have all characters same vision every nations.
But this will be have problems, the characters design and skill, and about selling purpose.
We probably never use anemo again after getting the 5 elements
Maybe each region would've had their own Element tier list on which element is the most dominant (the element of their respective god) and which is less liked by their people.
I guess it could also work that they assume if their god could do so much then being able to grant their own people with a myriad of different elements wouldn't be too weird.

And then WE show up, canonically snatching elemental powers from the gods' statues without their permission, storing them within us and being able to use all of them at the same time whenever we want without consequences like All for one from My Hero Academia! We travelers truly are broken af in the lore!😂

It's quite interesting that there's no canon yet as to who gives out visions, really makes you think about what Celestia is up to... but okay Klees dialogue is so wholesome and destructive I love it
It's funny that Jean didn't recommend her to the Fishing Association. Or that she hasn't heard about the sudden increase of fish population. That would have been a great ending to it. They could have ended it in Monstadt with Nantuck, telling us that there were rumors of sudden explosion and that the fish population have suddenly stabilised. With an artwork of Klee sitting on the ground, just eating mountains of fish.
I feel after 2 yrs of play, Ive cracked the vision code:
Anemo visions are the trickiest to acquire. An anemo holder is a person who has a very lofty goal, perhaps one they may never achieve. Something they have sworn an oath to. Realistic goal or not, they'll follow their heart and strive for it all the same. Some may die trying! Once they've committed their whole self to that goal, the anemo vision appears.
Whether that be to protect humanity (as an adeptus or a mortal), honour a loved one's memory or family name, become a genius alchemist despite constant failure, live a poor but noble life or maybe just grow TALL.
Alternatively, maybe you've an incredible passion for something like adventuring, fireworks, fishblasting, cooking, your undertaker job or being a superhero at night? Pyro!

It’s interesting how even the vision holders have there own beliefs over how they got there visions.
With how Ei(use the JP if you are a bit confused who's speaking and it is indeed coming from her) was genuinely surprised how people thought Visions granted by their Archons/gods is not just a major factor who receives them, it is also not in their hands that grant their people their visions.
Even the Archons are incredibly hush-hush or avoiding the topic, but Ei is a lot more open about it since she severed ties from Celestia long ago.
From all of these it has these criterias to receive visions by the gods:
Ambitions
Purpose in their Life
Their Given Circumstances
Their Upbringing
A Test against Fate
For Masterless Visions given by inheritance:
Share the same Ambition as the previous Master.
Gives them a bit of Power Boost from the Previous Owner's Ambitions against a certain threat or goal.
Or won over and almost got sold for an Auction.
And they are not a mere control of a fractions of a god, they are just used for mundane lives or not even factoring in who use them. Even the Mob Enemies like Treasure Hoarders use them.

I feel like the type of vision is related to how a person relates to the archons mindset. Geo users seem to have a sense of duty/responsibility. Anemo characters all have goals/people that they care deeply about.
The lack of electro/dendro visions might mean that few people (currently) relate to those archons’ mindsets.

Anemo: Freedom
Electro: Black sheep or different from other people.
Geo: "Ambition" or something to achieve.
Hydro: Achievement or an Achieved "person" or self achieved.
Pyro: someone who goes forward in life despite the things "Happening".
Cryo: to continue or to pursue in life.
Cryo: _being hot/cute_

In my opinion :
Pyro : People with burning desire
Geo : Hard worker
Anemo : People with inferiority complex
Electro : People who stand out in society but they still stand firm with their uniqueness

Hydro : People who dedicate themselves for something they love

It seems like celestia is the ones who gives visions but they only gives visions if the person ambition is the same as the archons criteria
following that logic since Ei has long cut ties with celestia and the electro gnosis has no archon criteria to follow celestia stopped in distributing electro visions 🤔

The electro archon have the criteria of eternity and if you look closer you can see that in the characters , fischl want an eternal friend , kazuha activate the electro vision cause he doesn't want to lose the traveller so eternal friendship , lisa wants an eternal rest and so on

So her cutting ties with Celestia didn't stop the visions from being given out, but enacting the vision hunt decree somehow did.

My theory is that visions are items granted semi-passively, when they meet certain criteria (personality, life experience, etc). Archon can control what the criteria is but they can't directly control who get it.

I like how she is one of the few to question the element she got and wondered the truth behind this. She has a valid point, why geo under anemo archon rule. Hopefully we get the answers about celestia and vision in general. We now know that archons don't give vision, maybe they just approve it but they don't give it, so who actually does give it? Also is the statue of seven like a gnosis? Is statue connect us to celestia and thus we draw its power or on the opposite maybe statue is a beacon to send the elemental power of the nature to power celestia and we take that power by resonating with it. So many questions.

Ei's voice line makes this a bit more interesting. She didn't know that electro visions stopped being given out globally when she started the vision hunt decree. So it either means that it's an unconscious power of the archons or Celestia intentionally stopped handing out electro in particular to keep the people in Teyvat in the dark.
But then the scene with Kazuha's dual vision power adds complexity to it. It's said that he 'shared the will of the vision' when he swapped to electro. So perhaps there could be a new electro vision bearer if they reawakened one like Ningguang did and Celestia simply refused people with the will that electro prefers.

I still believe the archons have some capacity regarding their element vision, but it still distributed / spawned by celestia since the archon didn't just hand it over. most of time it just spawns out of thin air.

Very insightful.. before watching this video, I figured visions being granted was like an agreeance between archons. Like for Klee to get her pyro vision from Venti, Venti would request the pyro archon to give Klee a vision, or the pyro archon would give Venti a pyro vision to give to Klee if Klee caught the pyro archon's eye.
Btw; some of the character stories (the non-voice line companionship unlocks) give some insight to visions as well. Specifically, one of Lisa's stories mentions how she studied visions and found/almost found some dark secret about 'em. can't remember it word for word, but I wonder if any other character stories have little details about visions like Lisa's..
I saw your video about the Heavenly Principle. On Snezhnaya we will help the Cryo Archon on his quest ( against the Heavenly principle ) in other way. Wonder what he/she will say about vision ( like Raiden voice-line do ). Very awesome video of their ideas of visions.

The issue with Raiden is whether it is the puppet or the Archon herself that is being referred to.
It could be the puppet as they cannot grant a vision. Only Ei herself can.

Even if Ei can, she still doesn't have her gnosis. Besides, Barbatos fell asleep for centuries before waking up so I don't think he can give visions while asleep.
Judging by her tone it sounds like Ei.
First, the tone isn't the one used by the shogun.
Second, Ei doesn't have the gnosis for a very long time. She isn't an offical archon anymore and still electro visions where still given up to a year ago.
Naturally thruough in game resources i have found out that the cryo vision users are having their ideals align with the theme of denying and defying fate, probably like the tsaritsa :D
what i can see how granting vision works:
Two strong factors:
-You need an ambition/desire (Ei confirmed that part)
-A second strong factor (Ei mentioning it) (maybe ressonating with the archon ambition too?)
And it have something to do with the mental state of the archon of said element, since Ei didnt stopped the flow of electro visions on purpose but her subcounscious/mental state of being against the visions somehow stopped it.

The vision I assume just materialises in front of them when they might need it the most. Fish gets it when she is extremely depressed, benny boi gets it when he is severely bleeding, think kaeya got his in a duel against diluc. But there are also exceptions to this rule
I like the fact not all voice lines are 100% right about things and they just answer with what they know. Makes them more believable. Tbh, some voice lines point out that they didn't even know who actually gave it.
Everyone says the previously that Barbatos gave Klee's but the Structure of the sentence actually makes it that Klee just learned it from that conversation and not that she knows about it.

Sara's vision was not given by the Shogun or Ei though, her vision appear as she was fleeing the mountains alone, right before she fell from a cliff, she was later found by the Kujou clan and adopted, she had the vision on herself then

Well, the misconception that archons grant visions might a vocal minority situation. It’s not strange that some archons might be entirely comfortable with the loyalty this would hold over their subjects.
The archons we’ve met so far seem to be apathetic or oblivious to the rumor. Meaning they’d be unlikely to debunk it, meaning only the misconception exists
I'm surprised that you didn't mention Xiao. It's pretty interesting that he didn't have ambition or desires to begin with, yet he still got an Anemo Vision. Gameplay wise, he's the only Anemo character that cannot CC, and seems to be just a gimmick of his power. Some might believe his Vision might be fake.
You can also check his story about Vision. Despite granted Vision by Celestia, it never stated that it was granted by the Archons. What's the point of granting it to illuminated beast or an adepti? Is it a sign of acknowledgement?
Yes it's very interesting. His story doesn't explicitly state he received it nor if it's fake. It just states that the illuminated beasts are called so because of their third eye, the vision. It could also be that Xiao could always use Anemo, may be he is an elemental being like Venti and Zhongli and the vision on his hand is fake. It's very explicit in Ganyu's story that her vision appeared when she decided to protect Liyue, unlike for Xiao. Probably because she's half human. Let's see how the story progresses, we haven't heard about the Electro Yaksha yet!
This is actually really interesting, because I always wondered that if the archons gave visions based on their element then that implies they saw those people at least once before. Another interesting idea is that if gods themselves don't give out visions then it makes a bit more sense kazuha was able to use his friends vision in that one scene (before this vid I previously thought the characters basically formed a connection with the gods and the vision was the archons granting them some of their power, but now that doesn't work anymore)
It would be nice to see another interaction of vision wielder and the nations corresponding archon with the vision wielder knowing full well he/she is the archon since there are many possibilities and it would make it a unique story.
I think the gods and archons alike give shells and the vision is determined by the person's energy

From the whole inazuma quest, the visions looks to be the peoples desire/will taken physical form, which, if taken away, may also take away their desire/will, even memories about such.

so about who give visions, we can see in Alrani(?) quest that she tell us that a study from Sumeru Academy that electro visions are given by the will or the electro archon :)
i think that when you get a vision, it's granted by the archon of the vision you get for example, you get an anemo vision, then it was barbatos, if you get geo, it was rex lapis etc.

Based on some characters comments about the vision hunt decree, it seems like it’s the archon of their respective elements that give out visions. I can’t remember who said it, but they mentioned that it was a strange turn of events, because there were some young people who had received an electro vision just in the past couple of years, which implies that it’s the electro archon who hands them out. It seems like the archons hand out visions to people witch aspirations, behaviours or worldviews that the archons admire or that align with their own. This is probably because (if it’s true that vision wielders have a chance of ascending to celestia) they want their successors to share their ideologies, or have one that they respect.
I also wonder about how Thoma got his Vision. Mihoyo confirmed he is from Mondstadt but he has an Inazuma vision. I know Mona got a Mondstadt vision because she got it from her teacher, but I want to know how Thoma got his Inazuma vision despite being a foreigner in Inazuma. It could be the same thing like Mona and Ningguang, but I’m interested to know his side.
