Impulse, instrumentally for me is still probably one of the best albums I have ever heard. The first time I heard Vaalbara, Heart, Render The Void, it's all simply insane. Especially White Noise. I lost my MIND when I heard it for the first time. Thank god music is timeless

Daniel Seale they tried to recreate the feels of the hypnotist with ultamata but it just wasn't there. I think the problem was they tried to make drift 2.0 instead of just making new music. I could be wrong and I'm sure this album will grow on me. It's not bad, just not amazing
It has grown on me a ton in the past week and actually surpassed Drift, which I didn't expect. I really wasn't feeling it at first, hearing it as just Drift part 2, but there is a LOT here to love. Give it time, hope you enjoy man!
Erra definitely have a problem of getting stuck in a sound even with the member changes. Their first two EP's and Impulse were all very similar but good, Augment was a real evolution of Impulse and then the Moments of Clarity EP was good too but even they admitted some of the tracks were stuff that didn't make the Augment album. Drift too changed up their sound completely and then this was exactly the same but with a worse producer and mixing and JT's monotonous vocals just add to a bit of stale formula feeling. Usually takes them another album or EP to change things up though so expect something new or good in 2020. Really though hope they find another vocalist as JT just has no range which doesn't add anything to the emotional feel Erra usually go for.
If you really think about it, this is kinda not metal. The accent is on melody, on singing, it's like a pop metal song, but not metal. I listen to ERRA when I want to chill out. You know that feeling when you listen to metal for a few hours and then you get enough, so you swich to something easier.. That's not the case with this band, you can both chill or enjoy a breakdown in one song. I just hope that this band will bring back the old times when metal was on tv, to be kinda mainsteam, to open a path for bands to do similar thing, beause this is truly an intro to a new genre.
The thing is, this is just one album. Impulse and Augment and their new self titled are a lot heavier than this. Neon is the only album in their discography like this, because the guitars are buried in the mix.
