    I've got one right now, Maxxforce DT, epa 07 single turbo engine. Passes relative compression but fails blow by test on CPA. DPF and DOC are full of engine oil as well as the turbo and CAC. Should be fun.

    I have one that blows a big cloud white smoke from the exhaust every now and then when accelerating from a dead stop. When the engine is idling it doesn't sound good at all, sounds like it's misfiring. Also whenever accelerating with econ mode on the engine will start jerking and falling on its face heavily around 15mph and will stop after about 35mph. Is there any advice you might have for my situation?

    Is it always 100% an inframe at that point? 😢 I’m in that situation

    How did you get those compression results, was it with a computer? Also is that always the reason why the crankcase breather leaks oil?

      I would get an engine compression test. Your engine has obvious blow by. This test can be done with Navistar Engine Diagnostic software.

    I drive the same bus. Is the engine a DT466?

      Yes it's the MaxxForce DT

      DT466 is basically the older MFDT, I believe the MFDT replaced the DT466 around 2010

    Looks like 40% exhaust is leaking into the crankcase , u can just connect a hose out to the exhaust pipe and call it a day! All of the gases will come out perfectly through one pipe!

    • @MechanicsHubdotCom
      @MechanicsHubdotCom  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Temporary fix Kuntal. Navistar has a kit that turns the closed crankcase circulation to an open system. So the blowby goes directly to atmosphere just like the old days. Not sure how they get away with that and charge customers for the kit to add salt to the wound. Karma got them in end all of their diesel engines are out of production.

      @@MechanicsHubdotCom xd😂😂 , thats just a cheap way to avoid engine rebuild & they r losing performance anyways with poor compression.

    Woah what’s the story there? Abuse high mileage? I means it’s a bus some I am sure it was run hard!

    • @MechanicsHubdotCom
      @MechanicsHubdotCom  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Our buses are used 4 to 5 hours a day transporting kids to school. The issue is excessive blow by from too much EGR exhaust going through the intake. The soot from combustion is nasty! Out of 18 MaxxForce diesels in our fleet almost half required rebuilding with the remaining engines on their way.
      We are changing engine oil sooner to keep the soot levels down. In the past our oil samples always indicated high soot levels and metal wear. Since we started changing oil more frequently those levels have dropped quite a bit.

      Mechanics Hub thanks for the reply, I am by no means an expert but I do have a 07 f250 with a navistar VT365 in it and I removed the EGR system completely which I know can not be done in most cases due to emissions laws. But without the EGR gases being recycled now my engine runs much better and I have no more danger of the EGR cooler exploding and hyrdolocking the engine. 230k miles 6500 hrs on it runs good still. Thanks for the videos

    • @MechanicsHubdotCom
      @MechanicsHubdotCom  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rgj5832 No EGR no problems. That's what is killing our Maxxforces but since we can not remove any of these components the challenge will never go away.

      @MechanicsHubdotCom  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rgj5832 you'll have far less issues without the EGR which is causing the death sentence on these engines. I'm glad your rig is holding up well. Thanks for the comment!
