If I remember correctly, my .357 speedloader didn’t twist but I would push straight down to release. Many years ago but I still love the speed loading technique. Thanks for posting!

My cousin just started to carry and had no idea these existed. I did use them in the early 70's when I first got on the PD, but first did the dump version. The practice was good as I trained in the dark. (What the heck, I worked in the dark so why not train in the dark!) SO now I am getting her to do the same. Maybe I can convince her to go to a semi one of these days!! I'm sending your video over to her. Thanks for having put it out there. Very helpful.

  • @Snubrevolver

    A couple of points:
    - Be sure to push in the cylinder release all the way before pushing the cylinder open and gently but smoothly guide it to full open. That "clunk" of the cylinder dropping means the cylinder was pushed before the release had reached full travel. Over time it can damage the frame and the yoke.
    - The disadvantage that should be mentioned about this technique is that the ejection is done with the thumb only, which provides a weak stroke. This might be okay for .38 but when you start going hotter into +p/.357 chances are you are going to get sticky cases that won't reliably eject and your hand will be pressed against the forcing cone which can quickly get hot.
In my opinion I strongly prefer the stressfire reload by Massad Ayoob, it's the one I used during training (at some initial annoyance from my instructor).

thank you for the video. Always have something to learn. My experience with 9 mm9 mm semi automatic jammed two times. I have done withsemi automatic 9 mm. Bought myself: colt Python revolver. It is a magnificent work of art. I believe revolver's are more reliable. I can only speak for myself. I know you only have six or seven rounds. But I believe most cases that's all you need. Practice with a speed in order. Revolvers are easier to clean less moving parts. I believe a revolver is 100% more reliable than a semi automatic. I know most people that have CCW carries semi automatics. But is just not for me after I had semi automatic 9 mm jammed twice!!!! George Simi Valley California

I still carry revolvers. High caliber, reliable, and you take your brass with you. Sure its limited, but if you can't hit it with six, you probably can't hit t with 15 or 30. We were taught to make your six count!

  • @SFsc616171

Hi. Couple points, might not need sayin', but here goes ...
1.Make sure the model/manu speedloader matches your revolver, THEY ARE NOT ONE SIZE FITS ALL.
    2. Make sure that your "cylinder side hand grip panel" is fashioned to allow a speedloader with enough clearance, or, you will HAVE to use speedstrips!!
    3. ANY speedloader ccan "murphy" and let loose your rounds. Get to know your speedloaderr, away from the range. You might not carry your piece, haul around a speedloader WITH DUMMY ROUNDS, to get yourself acquainted with the heft, feel, sound, and how they 'print', if you carry it/them in your pocket.
    4. Best dummy rounds are those purple snapcap versions. Extruded aluminum with a rubber primer for your firing pin to hit.
    5. When practicing reloads, DROP THE SPEEDLOADER QUICKLY!! You are practicing responding to a threat..."hey time out! I dropped my $75 speedloaader!!" "oh yeah? BANG!" Get it once you are done, or once its all over, and not one second BEFORE!!! Same if you have TWO of them.
This can be a "messy" business, so allow yourself "a little mess", and not so tidy with your loaders. They were designed to be knocked around, and not so delicate, ok?
    6. Remember the 4 gun laws,, know which end of your revolver points DOWNRANGE, you have 6 or so rounds, not 13, put them where they count most, your ammunition copies what is printed on the barrel, and above all, have fun!!

  • @Ed-ig7fj
    @Ed-ig7fj 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

A good revolver is a formidable weapon. Unlike an autoloader, you have the option of loading different types of ammo in the same cylinder, such as alternating round nose, hollow points, or a snake-shot rounds. The gun will tolerate this as it is not recoil dependent for functioning the way an auto is. What is your situation? Coyotes or bear at the farm? Water snakes while fishing? Sheet rock or plaster lath in a home defense situation? Revolvers are versatile, accurate, and great plinkers. Enjoy! --Old Guy

I don't understand why were you using the term throwback so much I mean young man I'm laughing out loud right now it it also makes me think that we follow the world and what we purchase or what we like and what we don't like what's good and what's not good what's bad and was not bad according to what the world think popularity I got an uncle he could reload his revolver so fast without that reloader make your head swing you wouldn't understand it young man so when you use the term throwback it's old it has a lot of dust on it it's not used anymore because we so modernized and and I have with my friends have now and I have the money to buy high tech and high quality or never mind quality because of that throwback that you referring to can be quality it's just that the speed loader is more Tech High Tech or the type of holster use is high tech not as well as a throwback it's common it's the average it's standard so it's a throwback not necessarily so I'm new but all I heard was throwback throwback throwback all I heard was we don't use that no more it's very used now and just my goodness young man all right just a thought young man just to talk all right have a good day thank you for you help appreciate you have a good day God bless

I suggest skipping the chatty intro and getting right to the instruction. I mean, for those searching to learn how to use the speedloaders.
