Honestly props to you because it seems like audio engineers have forgotten how to mix bass for metal tracks. What tuning does the bass use here? It looks like a 4 string so I’m assuming something like standard in B

oh damn, this is so close it's like if you managed to get the original recordings for the game prior to compression. that's impressive. there's definitely a little original spin here and there but certainly nothing was diminished
This is a pretty good cover. When I did mine I tried making a more metal version of the original song. You took it a couple of steps further than I did. I really like it. Well done.
That BASS tho. Makes the whole track hit different. The crunch is real. Hopefully someday studio engineers will realize that metal sounds better with a good and audible bass and that they should stop burying the bass under heaps of guitar layers

I am a real quake 1 Veteran. I loved quake 1 most. The sound of NIN was totally psychodelic. Behind every corner weird sounds and then this music... and quake 2 was incredible,too. I loved both soundtracks but today I mainly listen to Metal xD love and peace to all Quakers✌️
absolutely LOVE what you did with the bass on this epic cover! keep it up! (every instrument got some extra love compared to the original, but the bass was the most loved i feel :))
Just now saw this. I am a Quake II fan & gamer, played it since release in `97. Played it online (mostly Internet & rarely on LAN) & I was only on 56k dialup analog modem for the first 10 years, no kidding, my ping always hovering around 200 ms, but I was a badass on dialup, heh. Then played another 5 years of Q2 on fiberoptic internet. Sadly I have not played it since & now it has been over a decade. Sonic Mayhem made it one of the best game OST`s & you guys did a great cover. One critique though, I wish the synth/effects backing tracks were also played live & that we saw a keyboardist doing that in the video. I see you have also done Cerberon & will now head over there to watch. I hope you do more Q2 tracks some day. 👍🤘 09/15/24

@@punman5392 Yeah! In my case it's 5string bass without the first string, i'm using 5str packs, something about 130 or 135 for the 5str.
