    Excellent. Lots of rigs out there but it's good you explained how and why each component combine to make it an efficient river feeder catcher rig for large cyprinids

    Thanks Andrew. A lot of thought goes into your fishing . I can tell by the way you tie all your knots quick, hand skills by repetition, you put a lot of time making and thinking about you rigs. Thanks for sharing. I have learnt a lot on you tube by good videos like yours.

    can i ask why you need a shock leader?
    could i not just go braid to feeder then hooklength

    • @AndrewsKnots

      For fish spooking, for abrasion, for anti-tangle properties.

    Well explained Andrew. I can see how the fluorocarbon line might protect the main line from damage against rocks but do you ever suffer cut offs with the fine braid near the hook?

    • @AndrewsKnots
      @AndrewsKnots  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not really. Don't think it happened once during my 100 challenge.
      Most likely It will be to do with the areas I was fishing at - they were snaggy, but snags were not as sharp. BUT you are right - when using fine braid the chances of cut-offs are greater. That's wy I used short piece of it to reduce cut-off possibility.
      Cheers

    Hello Andrew, I love watching your channel, and have implemented a lot of your techniques into my own fishing. I recently watched one of your other videos on the best and strongest way to join braid to fluorocarbon, but watching this you have opted for the alright not which you previously claim is not as strong as the other technique. Is there a reason that you've changed the type of knot you have recommended fir this video?

    • @AndrewsKnots
      @AndrewsKnots  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      GT knot currently is my top one because I can tie it quick. Strength of the know is not everything for me.

    Hi Andrew, I’m just revisiting this video before the autumn barbel campaign begins. Just a quick question... is there any reason why you leave the braided part of the hook link at 20cm, rather than disguise it more by shortening to 10cm and using a longer length of FC?
    Hope to hear from you

    Hello, Andrew knots. I'm a big fan of your channel and have learnt a lot from your tips. The only part of this set up that confuses me is the angry fish flurocarbon In the video you held up is the 0.8 version, which on the website says it's a diameter of 0.14 and breaks at 3.7lbs. Which flurocarbon do i buy?. do i buy The 4.0 angry fish which is a diameter of 0.33, but breaks at over 16 lbs, or Do i buy the 3.0 with a diameter of 0.28 that breaks at 12.6lbs. Which one do you use? Thanks.

      I used to use 0.30 mm. FC for my Barbel rigs but this year I will go heavier 0.50 mm. FC above the feeder and below feeder "combi-rig" style.
      Cheers

    Hi Andrew, what length fluorocarbon shock leader do you use?

  • @tonybr2469
    @tonybr2469 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi Andrew so you have 30lb mainline 12lb leader and and a 44lb hooklink is that right? Should the hooklink be weaker ?

    • @AndrewsKnots
      @AndrewsKnots  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi,
      Yes, it said that on the package but in reality it always breaks on Combi-rig's FC to braid connection. Also, this rig evolved in terms of using even heavier FC of 0.50 mm. above and below the feeder 👍

    Hi never used fluorocarbon
    Say I am using daiwa 6lb mean line
    What pound fluorocarbon would I use fishing the bomb poped up bread thanks

    • @AndrewsKnots
      @AndrewsKnots  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi,
      I personally wouldn't use fluorocarbon for mainline because it's too expensive. If I would want my rig to settle on the bottom better, I would use 1-2 m. fluorocarbon leader.
      Anyway, to answer the question - go with the same rating in pounds fluorocarbon.
      Cheers

    What baits do you use with size 10 hooks?

    • @AndrewsKnots
      @AndrewsKnots  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mostly meshed SPAM at about 15 mm. OR dumbell boilies at about 12x14 mm.

    No reason to overspend on rigs, just a swivel, a hook and a weight(stainless nut can be used for cheapness)
