I had to send this thing back after a week. Managed to cut my finger when the knife was closed and in my pocket 😬 I did enjoy the fidget aspect of it but the lock up was so light, it was a worry.

Nice to see a post from you Alan, I picked one of these up a while ago, it's a good looking knife and for me that's where the good ends, a very light detent makes it a dodgy knife to use and with no finger choil I find it to easy to to fold in you, probably the worst knife in my collection.

I’ve got the original Slipjoint version of this and it is great… ish, first up I don’t do pocket clips so removed it, found the same problem so I had to put a t6 torx screw from another knife (think it was another pocket clip screw from a different boker) then there’s the factory sharpening, it’s not great by any stretch, then there’s the safety, it’s not really a pocket dropper, it can and does open up in the pocket (HH version probably won’t) and also if you run your hand down the open side with a bit of pressure when closed you can cut yourself accidentally, this improved itself considerably when I took some blade material off when sharpening, once sharp it’s great but the blade stock is too thick for general edc needs, BUT once it’s all bedded in it’s really smooth, has a drop shuttyness that I’ve never had on a Slipjoint, the detent is nice a notchy and when you hold it in a 3 finger grip with index finger on the blade the pressure your fingers put on the “lock bar” really strengthens it up and for harder use it’s really quite good

Careful with this one. I have the locking version and I realized after owning it a few days that the tip of the blade can be touched when it’s closed in the handle.
A couple times I have had it actually snag some fabric, which caused the blade to pop out when I wasn’t ready for it to. Another time I had the knife in my pocket and my finger ran over that back corner of the handle, I felt a sharp pain so I looked at my hand and saw blood everywhere. The tip had sliced my finger open!
Maybe mine was just made out of spec and others don’t have that issue, but I thought it might be worth it to warn you and anyone else watching this video.

    Hey buddy 👊
This Boker - initially grabbed my attention, as I liked the clean, modern lines of it...
However, after reviewing it myself, I have to say I was disappointed, overall...
Good to see you & hope all's well my friend,
    Atb Gus👍

I sent this one back. The ball in the detent ran into the jimping on the blade side of the knife making it stick on open. The thing was also ergonomically crap to open and close.

Thanks for the great review of this one! And cheers to EDC Life for loaning it, it's been a hot minute since I've seen a video from him, so I hope he's doing alright. Have an awesome weekend, my friend!

I have this knife and it’s my least favourite Boker I own, awkward to open and the detent is one of the weakest in my collection. HH do some great exclusives but this is unfortunately not one of them.

Hi what is your number 1 UK legal carry knife of all time? I actually love the look of the spyderco Heine's edition but want to get the best all round knife!

  • @RobEDC
    @RobEDC ปีที่แล้ว

Seems like this is essentially the Germany Legal version of the knife minus the flipper tab and quite frankly, I think this is actually the safer version to use. While the flipper tab is nice and makes the knife pretty fidgetable, it will easily catch onto whatever else you have in your pocket and since the detent is so ridiculously light, it will open right up in your pocket and jab you in the thigh. In my opinion, it's not a safe knife to pocket carry unless it is in a leather sheath or an EDC organizer.

Doubt I'd buy that - the thumb-tack can't be installed (to assist in blade opening) and it's definitely going to lead to a user injury with a lack of finger protection. I detest the anti-lock legislation as it makes a knife that much more dangerous to use, accidental closure has happened to me a few times when opening a whole bunch of product boxes when we had a server shipment come in. Switched to my locking blade and no problems (this wasn't in the UK).

Well said. I completely and utterly agree. Non locking knives are just dangerous to the user's precision fingers. The "laws" only apply to law abiding citizens and criminals will continue to carry whatever they like regardless of said "laws" it's a joke.

I have a few bokers in my collection, but honestly, I'm not a massive fan.
Personally, I think they are overpriced and overhyped...
    All the best David 👍🏻

The design for opening the knife and holding it open seems to be the worst of all scenarios. But it's Boker, so I'm hoping I'm missing something here. Otherwise, I can see a lot of cut fingers in its future, considering the 'entry level ' price. Alternatively, £40 might be enough to keep the non-enthusiast away and do their fingers a favour.
