    Nice job, it took five minutes in real time. A Bucks County PA mason would charge the homeowner 500 bucks at a minimum for that job. (plus probably $199 beforehand for an estimate) Northeast PA is lucky to have you, Mike. I just bought cement today to repair my foundation, which I learned how to do from watching your videos. Keep up the good work and thanks!

  • @robstephens
    @robstephens 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    You might want to seal around the door with some "Duct Seal" which might further improve the furnace efficiency. It looks and feels like play dough. You just get a piece of it and rub it between your hands and form it into a long string and press it in place. It doesn't harden and is easy to remove.

    Mike, my cleanout door is not closing. it's cemented in good, and I scraped off any paint/cement around the edges of the door and the frame. I think the door is curved out leaving the gap where it won't latch. Can this be repaired/bent back in shape? Or will I just crack it in half trying to bend it so it closes?
    Should I just use Duct Seal to make up the gap at the latch and at the top and bottom as it tapers to the hinge, like the guy below suggests for making the door seal well?

    • @DanHenryx
      @DanHenryx 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      UPDATE: I tested with a piece a paper at the hinge end to see where it was binding and sanded the door and the frame down with 80 grit sandpaper. at those spots for about an hour - I got the door to close more or less. Now my challenge is to rebuild the latch end. The door part of the latch is in good shape, still has the edge that is supposed to catch on the tab notch, but the frame tab has lost its notch, it's just smooth where the door patch crosses it.

    *_Hi Honest Mike:_*
    I know this is off topic. I have new shed I want placed on a concrete pad.
    The shed is small 6'X8' steel. I got a very short window of time to have this shed assembled.
    1. I'm in Buffalo, NY. Temps go below 0 degrees in winter.
    2. Soil is rich, Black with grass and level (no slope).
    3. How deep should I dig the earth out (I assume 4"-6")?
    4. Do I need gravel laid first? If so how many bags
    5. Do I need Re-bar?
    6. How many bags of concrete mix
    7. Should I rent a cement mixer for a small shed?
    *_Thanks in advance for Your advice._*

    • @MikeHaduck
      @MikeHaduck  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I can't tell you what to do, but to me it looks like a little less than a yard of cement at 5 inches thick, I'd probably order a truck with a yard , and I like at least 4 inches of gravel underneath, but that's me in my area, every Mason thinks different, thanks mike
