Hi guys, my fireplace smells stingy when it gets really hot, its cast iron stove and stainless steel flue. The guys who I bought it from says its from the build up of creosote inside the flue. Is it true or what ?! Any opinions please !
A company called saver systems offers a product called heat shield. Its a masonry slurry applied to the inside of the chimney with a foam pulling head. They have photos on the website. It requires professional tools.
@@thegreatwhite75 Yeah but if you go with a liner, you have to install a fireplace insert as well, which is pretty costly. A conventional fireplace cannot accept a liner alone, that doesn't make code since there is no approved adapter to the get the liner sealed with the damper. Also that would eliminate the smoke chamber.
@@CP-pf6gx Wrong. You don't necessarily "HAVE" to have a fireplace insert......"PROVIDED".... you can fit a big enough liner down the flue to vent it for use as a conventional fireplace. The liner stops at the bottom of the flue tiles/top of the smoke chamber, then fireproof insulation is stuffed up between the liner & tiles, along with mesh to close off the gap & to hold the poured in insulation that is poured down from the top. Then the smoke chamber is recoated/shaped right up to the bottom of the liner. Then a top sealing damper & you're good to go. Although a GOOD insert with a full, insulated, stainless steel liner WOULD be MY preference.....so that you can actually keep your heat in the house vs losing all your heat up & out the chimney with a conventional fireplace. But it all depends on what people want. Some people only want their fireplace for the ambiance.
That would destroy mine. Down in south Texas I have a wood burning fireplace it’s a must have for me. It saved our lives when I was kid and the ice storm of 97 hit us. I’m scared to use mine as it’s just a 10 inch galvanized pipe in the neighborhood that I live in everyone has the same style fireplace and they said that it will not heat your home. It’ll heat a 4 foot area in front of it, but it will not warm up the living room. I’ve used it twice and that’s definitely true. You would have to get a really good fire going which scares me about that galvanized pipe.
had my chimney swept and cleaned and that night had a fire and now i get the strongest smoke smell in my livingroom i have ever had, going on 5 days now with no sign of it dissipating...why is this?
the uk now we have old chimneys so the are cleaned lined with a insulated stainless steal liner then used. we really dont see a soot build up like the old brick chimneys, less porous?
Good afternoon. Very good video, thank you. But my main question is, if I want to earn money and clean chimneys, what documents do I need? Do I need a license?
@@ChimneyMonkey I think you can also I don’t know. I’m just guessing, but I have seen sandblasting of brick houses that have graffiti on them and it takes all the graffiti off without damaging the brick and I think sandblasting would be the easiest way to do that chimney cleaning as well, but I guess someone can try it.
Thank you for the video but the music is distracting and your microphone that you used to record is terrible! I can barely hear you with the cruddy Mike and the annoying music that's too loud.
Thank you for the video but the microphone that you used to record your voice is absolutely terrible!! Seriously, it's a good video but make a new one with a quality mic so we can hear you clearly and there's no high-pitched sound the entire time you're talking.
Thumbnail looked like deep sea crabs 😅
My thoughts exactly lol I was kind've confused 😕🤔😅
🦀The Sea crab looking thing, is what got me to click on this video
Or a crazy looking spider. 🕷
Having not only cleaned my own...have experienced a creosote ignition! Don't miss the labor and mess of maintenance.
Chimney fires are very common - we see them all the time 🤷♂️
On average how much does this process cost. Like the inspection and the cleaning?

Can a poly dryer vent brush be used to clean stainless steel chimney liner?
Dryer vent brush is probably way too small for a fireplace flue. It needs to be the size of the flue to brush all sides
Looks like a lot of work as well as alive and dead creatures sometimes being found I’m sure.Great job sir because I cant and won’t😂🤷🏾
Yep. Dead animals are very common. That’s why proper cap is very important 👍
You said the mortar of the chimney joints come off, how do u seal them again?
I'd assume either you go in there to apply mortar or demo

And then the joints come out again & you're back to square one. No thanks! Reline it with a stainless steel liner.

Great Job they do
Thank you ❤

The music makes it hard to hear you clearly. Why do you play the music?
Eso como lo hacen?

None
Tidbit of info most flu liners are dry stacked from the git
Sadly it’s the case.
Chimneys seem like they’re more trouble than they’re worth.
Any Santa inside?)
Very old fashioned way of cleaning a flue system, tiles, or stainless steel .
Is there an easier way?
