    There's always the assumption that Aliens that might be visiting us are far more advanced maybe even millions of years more advanced but it could just be that their not really much more advanced than us, they've just discovered one thing or they possess one element that makes interstellar travel possible. It could be that they are not much smarter but because they have that tech they have become explorers. They could have even reverse engineered the tech from others who'd crashed on their planets.

    From a biophysical perspective, the appearance of aliens would likely depend on the environmental conditions of their home planets, which shape the evolution of life through natural selection. While Earth's life forms are diverse, they share common biochemical and structural traits carbon-based chemistry, water as a solvent, and DNA or RNA for genetic coding. Aliens might share similar foundations if these are universal prerequisites for life, but their morphology could vary significantly to adapt to different conditions.
    For example, on a high-gravity planet, aliens might be short and stocky with robust skeletal structures to counteract the intense gravitational pull. Conversely, in low-gravity environments, they might be elongated and lightweight, with flexible limbs to move efficiently.
    The respiratory systems of aliens would reflect the gases available in their atmosphere. An oxygen-rich environment might support creatures with lung-like organs, while a methane-rich world could give rise to entirely different metabolic processes.
    Alien senses would be tuned to their environment. Planets orbiting dim stars might produce beings with heightened infrared vision or echolocation, while those on worlds with thick atmospheres might rely more on tactile or chemical communication.
    On aquatic planets, aliens might resemble streamlined aquatic organisms like fish or cephalopods. On land, they could exhibit bipedalism, quadrupedalism, or even forms of locomotion unknown to Earth.
    Photosynthesis-like processes might dominate on planets with abundant sunlight, leading to plant-like aliens. Alternatively, chemosynthesis could dominate in dark environments, such as subsurface oceans, leading to life forms feeding off chemical gradients.
    While bilateral symmetry dominates Earth’s animals, alien life might exhibit radial, asymmetrical, or even fractal-like designs if it suits their environment.
    Ultimately, the diversity of life on Earth provides a template for imagining extraterrestrial biology, but the specific details of alien physiology would be shaped by the unique biophysical and chemical constraints of their ecosystems. The possibilities are vast and could range from familiar analogs to forms utterly alien to our experience.

    Star Trek hit the nail right on the head. I believe that most extraterrestrial beings will look like human actors with prosthetic makeup jobs on their ears or foreheads and will speak English with an American accent just like in Star Trek.

    • @SevenSixTwo2012
      @SevenSixTwo2012 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Convergent evolution could actually make it so. Two legs and two arms with fingers are the most minimalist and efficient form to use tools and build technology. As for speaking, Star Trek features the "universal translator" machine which translates everything into English in real time. Our current AI can already do that.

    • @Zurround
      @Zurround 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@SevenSixTwo2012 My comment was sort of facetiousness or sarcasm. Oh I know about the "universal translator" thing but shouldn't the talking be out of sync with what you are hearing like when you watch a Japanese or Asian movie and its dubbed into English and the lip movements don't match the words? Any lip reader who turns the volume off can tell what is being said so that kind of kills the "universal translator" thing.
      And one of the episodes of THE ORVILLE also had written English including the same number system on a different planet, one where too many "down votes" can lead to execution and Star Trek avoided written English on other planets for the most part since no way could the universal translator justify that in plot device.
      Avatar was wiser, had basically a HUMANOID body shape which is evolutoinarily very efficient but due to CGI it did NOT just look like a human actor with a makeup job.

    • @SevenSixTwo2012
      @SevenSixTwo2012 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@Zurround For sure it wouldn't be exactly like Star Trek, however I would bet that the show has got it almost right. Aliens probably do indeed look humanoid and communicating with them would probably be easier than we may imagine. Life, same as other structures in the universe (planets, moons, stars, asteroids, comets, etc), probably builds itself out of similar matter, principles and patterns everywhere in the universe.
      I'd also wager that the Aliens would arrive speaking fluent English and all other common Earth languages as well, since they would've probably already figured it out by eavesdropping on our constant communications. Figuring out a foreign language is essentially pattern recognition, something AI does exceptionally well.

      I'm gonna disagree with you a bit. Some of the aliens will speak with a Cockney, or Scottish accent. The bald woman alien in the first movie spoke with an East Indian accent. And my favourite alien species, the Ferengi, spoke with a New York Jewish accent, which is technically not American. If the aliens communicate telepathically, then for sure it's with a Chinese accent.

    2:30 Not just when presented with the problems that wings will solve but also when presented with the opportunity to evolve wings! Not every group will come upon the opportunity to evolve wings. A dog might get advantage from wings if they evolved them, but they don’t currently have the opportunity to, whereas a creature that’s already able to glide would have the opportunity to evolve wings.

    As an economist I'd like to put in my two cents on the value an alien species can get from interaction with another species. The value from traveling to another star system to harvest them for meat is really low. Likewise traveling to another star system to take their minerals or water is low value. But scientific and cultural exchange or even just the sociological value of studying their society would be worth orders of magnitude more than stealing minerals or energy. Also it's easy to transfer information between star systems, transfering minerals is nearly impossible.

    Arrival was a great movie but one that is also very good, although it is a series on Netflix, is 3 Body Problem. A brilliant woman finds a way to send message into space using a much faster method, they eventually respond. The response originally seems to be from someone from another society from lightyears away but warns that we should not continue messaging as many others in this society would eventually come and destroy our society. Later they communicate and learn about us, how we lie, manipulate and coerce others with false stories and such and then consider us a threat due to this mentality of human beings. I believe there is life out there, intelligent and would very likely evolve to have differences and parts of their societies that would think and process things differently, because unless it is a hive mind, we and they, are different, therefor have individual thought and conclusions, which seems inevitable. Though I will likely never know, it is a very fascinating topic I can listen to for hours.

      There's some great commentary videos on TH-cam, that explains 3 Body Problem as CCP-endorsed propaganda. The only way the novels could be published in China is if they were "politically correct" and approved by the Communist central government. The general plot line is based on Chinese history. It's a veiled story of the conflict between Communist China and the West, and how the PRC will eventually defeat us. Look up "Hegel's Dialectics", which is the basis of communism. You'll find this process in 3 Body Problem. The whole idea of political correctness comes out of communism. Toxic stuff.

    During the early period of life that begins on earth, the evolution seems more based on random environmental disturbances. As life evolves and becomes more complex, evolution occurs also because of competition between species. The early evolution was based on random occurrences. The later evolution not only because of randomness, but also from being an actual target.

    My perspective is that we arrogantly assume that an alien species would find us fascinating but we literally might be something an advanced species has seen countless times in their existence and history.
    Imagine an advanced species that could travel with ease throughout the universe, the technology they likely possess to easily detect life on planets, likely without even having to visit.
    When you drive through the countryside rarely do you ever pull over to look at the sheep, you glance over and continue on your journey, you’ve seen plenty of sheep, they are of little interest to you and you could look at sheep on your phone at any time, what if that’s how Aliens view us?
    We think we are so important but we could just be considered simple lifeforms that they have a minimal passing interest in, for all we know they might know everything they want to know about us already, we might be well documented, we could be considered an extremely boring planet in the grand scheme of things, UFO sightings could literally just people people passing through to refuel like we are a rest stop to somewhere far more interesting and just every once in a while some arsehole visiting wants to mess with the locals but most don’t because they hold very little interest in what we do

  • @gregthegroove

    IMO, the most fascinating aliens we can ever meet would be humans just like us on another world, in another solar system, on another earth. That would be so freaky I couldn’t even fathom it. I’d love to see the differences in stuff they came up with etc… I’d totally choose this scenario every time rather than the typical Martian alien or reptilian. Would also make a great movie.

      He essentially said that they will look something like us. Just as on Earth on another planet, even though it might be different. If it's a carbon-based life, you'll probably need to drink. What's the easiest way to place place liquid in a container? A cup. What's the optimal way to pick up objects? With four fingers and a thumb. It might look different just as a black person might look different from a white person. But in essence, you're looking at a bipedal humanoid with arms and legs, hands and feet. You get it. The laws of physics apply everywhere whether it's on Earth or a planet that looks like hundreds of millions of light years away.

Ask for forgiveness later, after we have decimated the population and planet for said resources. 4. the aliens would be second/third class citizens on their own planet by then.

    I’m really curious to hear more about the specialized needs and adaptations of another life form that could travel the stars such as the ability to manipulate and construct machines..... I would assume this organism would need to develop some kind of hand like appendage ? Their planet would also need all the available resources that could be mined . Fire would need to be available as well as oxygen and other gases . I would also assume the density and gravity would need to be just right to allow them to build a vessel that is capable of escape velocity from there planet . Here on earth , we can barely escape earths gravity with the fuel and rocket technology that exist !! Things have to work out just right !!!!! We amazingly have just what it takes . Is that Luck ? There are so so so many things that have to be available for anything to work as it has up to now !! Please comment your thoughts .

In the early stages, the life forms of another technological civilization would have to have arms and legs so they could get material and build things like we have done. Now if they’ve been around for millions of years they could have AI that build and service everything they need, they could have no need for arms or legs, maybe they’ve evolved after millions of years and now look completely different.
