Franz was was my supervisor and mentor when I was instructing at Perisher in the 80's. I loved his passion for the snow and his love of skiing and this really comes out in this video. Well done Franz and Christian
I meet Christian 35years ago and meet him again on the link T Bar at Smiggin's this year and he was still giving me tips on how to ride the T Bar... This is also my 50th year of skiing in Australia...congratulations Christian and Franz on this milestone!!!! Rob Gates...
Very nicely produced film. Franz was one of my early mentors on snow nearly 40 years ago. Great to see him and Christian still going strong. Still remember old Harry teaching at 80 and being a ladies man. All the best for another decade or two guys!
Hi Franz & Christian, I’m very grateful to have been part of your journey while instructing skiing in Perisher. Seeing you guys in action brings back wonderful memories and the realization that you are living your dream is very inspiring. Your love of skiing, teaching and your zest for life are remarkable. Cheers to the next 50 years! See you on the ski slopes in Perisher.
For sport, ski make you feel young even you are 60 or 65. Last season, I doing 20 Max5 group lesson and meet lots of instructor at the mountain (most of them are really good, some of them already loss the passion, but still learn different style of skiing...). The most impressive instructor was not at highest rank (CSIA-L4), but knowing how to convey his skills to student effectively. I was luck enough to meet a CSIA-L3 ski instructor at Whistler Blackcomb, he was at retired and doing partime ski instructor for fun only. But his turn shape, speed and radius control (small to large then small again) was so fluid and smooth, which I think remembered in my brain (other instructors I already forget). I can say an old instructor at his 60s is as good as young instructor, which make you surprised and impressed! By the way, I am an Epic Pass holder, as the pass able to use in Perisher, that is why I visit this TH-cam and explore what is the terrian like before going to Perisher.
Don't think I'll make 50 years on the snow as I started when I was 50. My annual trip is 1750km each way to get to Perisher, but still come back for more. I understand where their passion comes from. Keep it up.
