As a sax player, I'm thrilled to hear how well they harmonize. Iv'e only been playing for 6 years, since 6th grade. Now as a senior in high school, I know how hard it can be when a tenor or bari decides they want to over play me as a lead alto.
Am also playing it as 1st trom in our school big band - the 16ths aren't that hard after 2 or 3 hours of practice.... now just to master the double time swing stabs....
We are playing this for marching band in our stevie wonder medley this year and I really hope this song dosnt get ruined for me since this is such a bop
Seriously, the coolest arrangement I ever played while in high school. I’d argue having the experience to perform this chart is what inspired my love for playing in big bands, forever.
I really wish my jazz band was competent enough to play this. Like one trumpet player can effectively gliss and no trombones (including myself) can play those 16th notes
God. I can literally just put myself in that seat, all the way to the right of the ensemble, as a Bari sax, and everyone just smiling and having the vibe of their lives when we’d all simultaneously play that lick…. . . . Can you tell I miss jazz?

My friends and I in my jazz are going to give this a shot we are pretty young so I’ll be pretty impressed if we can pull this off for the talent show or something
I had no clue the middle part had a solo tenor sax part. The years that I've played this arrangement in high school, no tenor sax player ever played it lol.
i dont know if this is even relevant anymore but I managed to transcribe the solo 3 years back when I was playing this piece. If you need it, just tell me
Aaron Wilkes yeah we always stop before the tenor solo and go back to the beginning. thank the lord cause this bitch right here (me) CANNOT and WILL NOT play it.
Love the trumpets in this. I play trumpet myself and so does my friend. It's gonna be hard to learn this in time for a November talent show but we'll try. I'm inns try an et a bunch of people in my year involved. If we ever record it I'll post it onto here and link it below :)
I may need to make a few adjustments to the music because we have a singer, so all the stuff that the saxes and trombones and that do is kinda unnecessary but I can work around it
Try improvising in G# Major as an alto or bari player or in C# major as a tenor or trumpet player, it kinda sucks. There’s a reason most jazz songs are in the key of Eb and Bb
Tip for any basses who may be trying to learn this and stumble across this comment: for that part that everyone does (the one that’s all 16th notes and starts with a C), that one bar where it’s E-D-C-A-G-D-C-A-C, there’s a secondary fingering you can do for the A and G (A: D string, 7th fret. G: D string 5th fret) that makes it 100 times easier to play rather than trying to slide down the fretboard with immense accuracy and speed
omg I remember playing this for 7th grade jazz band. I used to play 2nd trumpet but I really wanted to play 1st with my crush lol I'm kind of glad I didn't. good times
For our highschool jazz festival we are playing this song. The drums to this are extremely fun... Until you get to the double-time swing part. At that part I just say to our conductor: "I can't even. I'm in grade 9. Get our grade 11 percussionist to do this."
Yeah, it's awesome that the soloist is thinking about the accompaniment part, and the way it fits sounds great, in addition to the fact that the run is super cool alone
+Nick Seaman I had the same problem XD im not entirely sure how I do it, I just see how my fingers go along the piano? Just experiment with it and im sure you will find a good way to do it (wow im probably late and non helpful but oh well)
Finnian BlackButler Yeah, I figured it out eventually, I ended up having more trouble playing the double time at the right tempo, but it all went well. We actually had our concert a couple days ago, but thanks anyway!
I play 3rd part trombone on this song in our jazz band, this song sounds great but everything feels wrong so while it sounds good it sucks to play as a trombone player lol
Can we just stop and appreciate those harmonies in the saxes during the chorus? Because that was a thing of beauty.
yass 👏👏
As a sax player, I'm thrilled to hear how well they harmonize. Iv'e only been playing for 6 years, since 6th grade. Now as a senior in high school, I know how hard it can be when a tenor or bari decides they want to over play me as a lead alto.
yes poor bari never gets any love always just "there" never gets heard enough imo
Ironic at my school i have the same problem as lead tenor when the altos try to over play
instaBlaster
This tenor sax player is something to talk about. Those licks!!!!!!!!
I’m annoyed by this and you’re welcome because the tenor solo is improvised so I don’t know how it actually goes
Ikr! His name is Trevor Lawrence and he’s awesome
Aidan transcribe it bro
@Hezekiah Daggett Oui, ça s'entend comme dans le Midi de la France.
Right?! He's absolutely astounding!!
World's best studio tenor sax.
Trevor Lawrence is a G.O.A.T
Oh hell yeah
Playing this in our jazz band as a trombone player! So fun!
and dem painful 16th notes
I know!! I hate anything beyond 16th notes at 120bpm!!
me too! this is amazing! the 16th notes killed me!
Am also playing it as 1st trom in our school big band - the 16ths aren't that hard after 2 or 3 hours of practice.... now just to master the double time swing stabs....
nah mate bari sax is super fun as well! this year though I mite play as the drummer
Agree
I don't think that a better Tener Sax solo exists! First time I heard it i was to amazed for words
Sadly I’m moving from tenor to Bari for jazz band so I won’t very get this solo
See the tenor solo on MacArthur Park
It's fun sure but to call it the best you ought to be out of your mind.
I have to do this tenor solo and I’m so scared it won’t be as complicated as I think this guy improvised a bit
I fell u bro
Although I can play it my band is...well lets say “improving”
Lol my jazz band is in the process of learning this
I play the sax and the version I have has 6 flats 😭😭😭😭
My Jazz band is trying to learn this right now. It's going pretty well, surprisingly. Still got a long way to go though.
God. I can literally just put myself in that seat, all the way to the right of the ensemble, as a Bari sax, and everyone just smiling and having the vibe of their lives when we’d all simultaneously play that lick….

Can you tell I miss jazz?
This song has been awesome to play in jazz, especially the drum solo 😄
This is probably my favorite jazz band piece I’ve ever played.
YES! We played this exact cover (I play trumpet personally) in Jazz! Good times
Even the bass gets in on the action. Incredible!
Can we just give props to the drummer for the good time and difficult rhythm
Good! I’m not the only one who listens to this😁
Hi Matt!
U know they’re good when u can hear the groove in the bass
I play alto sax and my brother plays tenor in our Highschool Jazz band and you can bet that after school we’re just grooving playing this song
I met Michael Philip Mossman. He's a great guy and a fantastic trumpeter and arranger.
I loved this song now I can finally play it on bari. so excited thank you to who ever made this!!!
Sean C M Bari Saxaphone for the win lol!! I march Bari 😂
i hate marching bari...
boo
Bari sax players rise up
Music is a world within itself
With a language we all understand
With an equal opportunity
For all to sing, dance and clap their hands
But just because a record has a groove
Don't make it in the groove
But you can tell right away at letter A
When the people start to move
They can feel it all over
They can feel it all over people
They can feel it all over
They can feel it all over people
Music knows it is and always will
Be one of the things that life just won't quit
But here are some of music's pioneers
That time will not allow us to forget
For there's Basie, Miller, Satchmo
And the king of all Sir Duke
And with a voice like Ella's ringing out
There's no way the band can lose
You can feel it all over
You can feel it all over people
You can feel it all over
You can feel it all over people
You can feel it all over
You can feel it all over people
You can feel it all over
You can feel it all over people
You can feel it all over
You can feel it all over people
You can feel it all over
You can feel it all over people
You can feel it all over
You can feel it all over people
You can feel it all over
I can feel it all over - all over now people
Can't you feel it all over
Come on let's feel it all over people
You can feel it all over
Everybody - all over people
My friends and I in my jazz are going to give this a shot we are pretty young so I’ll be pretty impressed if we can pull this off for the talent show or something
How did it end up going
played this for jazz band as a tenor saxophone and i love this song so much
Woah, we have the same last name!
I had no clue the middle part had a solo tenor sax part. The years that I've played this arrangement in high school, no tenor sax player ever played it lol.
Your profile matches your comment 100%
i dont know if this is even relevant anymore but I managed to transcribe the solo 3 years back when I was playing this piece. If you need it, just tell me
Aaron Wilkes I have a guy in my middle school hit that part like it was no prob
Aaron Wilkes yeah we always stop before the tenor solo and go back to the beginning. thank the lord cause this bitch right here (me) CANNOT and WILL NOT play it.

Yeah. The solo sounded amazing.
The tenor’s Trevor Lawrence, he’s amazing

Miguel Alameda no there is a saxophonist named Trevor Lawrence
It’s beautiful I want to cry
*hears tenor sax solo*
*hyperventilation*
Love the trumpets in this. I play trumpet myself and so does my friend. It's gonna be hard to learn this in time for a November talent show but we'll try. I'm inns try an et a bunch of people in my year involved. If we ever record it I'll post it onto here and link it below :)
I may need to make a few adjustments to the music because we have a singer, so all the stuff that the saxes and trombones and that do is kinda unnecessary but I can work around it
You'll need a good drummer, otherwise it won't work :) but it's an amazing piece of music
+Sgt. Benni ill find the best drummer i can, and boy, are you right
Same goes here fam
i must know if it ever happened!
I be absolutely bopping at measures 14-18
Feels like sacrilege to play this tune in C instead of B lol
Bryce Rosenwald it’s in D
Bryce Rosenwald oof I take that back u we’re right, I meant my D😂😂
no it is in c wtf look at the piano part
Benjamin Leiby Yeah, the original is in B.
Try improvising in G# Major as an alto or bari player or in C# major as a tenor or trumpet player, it kinda sucks. There’s a reason most jazz songs are in the key of Eb and Bb
I really wish I had the skills to transcribe that amazing solo.
I transcroobed it email me if u want
@@theoriginalcows1357 please hand it over
@@theoriginalcows1357 you mind sharing that with the rest of us? 😮
some girl in my schools jazz band sight read that solo amazingly i have not recovered since
Impossible what in the heck. The written solo or the Trevor Lawrence transcription?
This song too jazzy for my head 🎼🎶🎵
The hardest song for a sixth grade trombone!
Sweet Lord the piano part is daunting
Right!? Our concert is in two weeks and oof- measure 26-34 is definitely rough still.
played this on guitar as a freshman.never gets old
Ditto!
this SLAPS
Silvagunner has made it so I can only now think of bomb-omb battlefield when I hear Sir Duke in this key
Masterpiece.
Put this song on two times speed with settings it sounds so good!
This song gave me PTSD.
Trying this in my big band... I think I'm having trauma too
Wonderful arrangement! It reminds me of Big Band Music!
So beautiful 😍
I love this so much!!
I need to learn this solo and will be forever in the debt of whoever is cool enough to transcribe it for me in Eb
LMAO TRUE
The unison part for the bass killed me in sightreading so badly
ikr
Judeisbad si

the feature at 1:06 took so long for me to learn but now that it's under my fingers (trumpet boi) I appreciate the mastery behind it 🤣
I feel you. I'm lerning right now and it's sooo painfull... But fun though
Fr

Michael Mossman is a genius.
That tenor solo was beautiful
È semplicemente FANTASTICO!!
this song will forever haunt my band

the trumpet part sounds so good
Definitely didn't sing my part in the shower with this on max volume

We play this in our school band and now everybody expects me yo play this damn sweet solo. Why does it have to be that tho? :/
I want to know that that tenor play is my god
E SEMPLICEMENTE FANTASTICO!!!
That tenor solo goes CRAZY 🥴🥴
Awesome arrangement!!! I love this tune!
This piece is currently the bane of my existence 😂 Still an awesome piece though
that stuff at bar 59 is brutal to sight read
It's brutal even when npt sight reading XD... but no seriously send help

Not bad, I finally got the double time down. All that is left is waiting for the jazz band festival later this year.
Thank you! Best wishes with your musical studies too!
you are a senior now thats crazy
Hope life is treating you well & that you can play this song now :)
I LIKE IT . IT WAS FUN
This song would sound amazing in almost any key tbh
I would like it twice if I could
That run at 1:52 was amazing
Yeah, it's awesome that the soloist is thinking about the accompaniment part, and the way it fits sounds great, in addition to the fact that the run is super cool alone
I'm a pianist and I'm trying to play this song for a Jazz festival. Any tips would be appreciated.
It feels like the 1st and 3rd trumpet are fighting over being lead. Some bits of the song the 3rd part is the dominant one.
I play lead tenor in my jazz band. Let’s just pray…
I just learned the actual song and not this version today, it was really fun, good luck
this his song is HARD on guitar
This would be great for jazz band
WOW!
I’m playing this song is jazz right now, I like the song, I really hate playing it. Bari sax is so hard
I want to buy music notes by downloading.
I saw this video and I just had to buy the first trumpet part
Como sempre, espetacular. Muito bom mesmo.

we got this and we sounded like a dying cat. we've got lots of work
the alto sax sounds great imo
I play 3rd part trombone on this song in our jazz band, this song sounds great but everything feels wrong so while it sounds good it sucks to play as a trombone player lol
