5:23 I once heard a theory that put my brain into a proper knot... it said that every single person on earth that has ever lived is you. You just take turns to live through every life and you go through every scenario. So any time you're good to someone else, you are good to another version of you, going through another circumstance of you. This would mean, that any one of you who see this will make a conscious decision to not reply to yourself in another life. (Disclaimer: This is not my belief, but a thought practice. How each of us could end up in any situation given the circumstances and how every act of kindness could be felt... by "ourselves", therefor "be worth it"... It makes us think about how we treat others more, if we'd think it'd be ourselves experiencing the other end.......)
I know it's subjective, but I've always thought this was one of his best songs. Loved your reaction and thoughts, man. Your reference reminds me of Campbell's quote: "All the gods, all the heavens, all the hells, are within you."
at the very least it is one of his best religion focused songs it hits the right level of satire without being insulting. while slipping in some really good things to think about.
Jesus even said “the kingdom of heaven is within” and Buddha said “we are all Buddha’s we just don’t know it.” I believe that Heaven is not a place but a state of being. 🙏
Agreed. It's one of the most deeply sad songs I've ever heard. I think it's a song that most people can listen to and agree with but at the same time keep right on doing the things the song is condemning, like still hating other people including other people who themselves would agree with the song. And I'm not trying to accuse anyone here, the reason I see it that way is because I'm personally guilty of it right now as I type this. I want to live in the world Bo is imagining but if I did live in that world it couldn't be that world, you know? Just me being there would break it. Even realizing that, and though I do my best, I don't think I'll ever be worthy of such a world. But on the other hand, maybe if enough of us do what little we can to nudge it closer, someday that world really can exist for someone.
The afterlife is a mess. Even if it was only humans there, imagine how many there are. Put that many people together and the result is always the same. You die only to appear in a long DMV line, waiting to get your id card so you can be assigned a job and pay spirit taxes. Like.... can i just not exist? Please? Spirit DMV worker: Ugh. Lazy hippie.
This is his best song, brother or sister, doesn't matter coz we are all souls in God's eyes, wishing you the Best you can offer to the World my dear comrade.
"Maybe life on Earth could be heaven. Doesn't just the thought of it make worth a try?" Considering the act I'd been seeing on stage before this song, that line absolutely floored me.
“From God’s Perspective” is completely bad-ass! I keep sharing it with my friends. So much good stuff to think about. This song is so deep. It really doesn’t matter whether there’s a God or whether God loves us or whether we deserve to be loved. Think whatever you want about that but it won’t change anything. The only thing that makes a difference is what we DO. If we run around raping each other (which happens in all sorts of direct and indirect ways) life will be hell. If we love each other it will be heaven. Who needs a thousand metaphors?
The problem there though is that people's actions are influenced by what they believe their god wants. Changing people's actions starts with changing people's beliefs.
Another takeaway I got from when he says when you earn my love you won’t need it: how you were saying if we focused on loving others through the disagreements instead of trying to tear each other down for them(thereby earning his love), we would instead have groups of people who share love for one another, therefore making God’s love which they were fighting about for so long honestly irrelevant at that point because of how much love we hold for each other Ps love your break downs !
Whereas I took it as, to earn “gods love”, you have to be a good person, be forgiving, and you have to forgive and love yourself. And when you have that, you won’t feel the need to be desperately toiling to please someone or something else. “If you want love, the love has got to come from you”
Also, I think you might be the only person I've seen react to this song who was spot on in interpreting the whole "my love's the kinda thing that you have to earn and when you earn it, you won't need it" line. Or at least that's how I've always taken it.
Man. I hate hate hate when people don’t get why the first speaking bit is there. When people don’t react to “this is a song from the perspective of God” after the first lines make me so mad lol
Bo is always fantastic, this song was so on point for me when I first heard it. So was your reaction. Would love to see you react to Tim Minchin too, if you like this musical type of comedy. He’s Aussie and heavier on the musicality but his lyrics are just as ingenious (actually more so in my opinion). He and Bo are also friends, I’m pretty sure.
Found u from one Inside react vid, now I'm down the rabbit hole of ur hilarious reacts 🤣😂 gj u saying what were all thinking.. But also repeating life until EVERYONE gets it right, is a legit night terror at this point 🤔🥲🥲🥲🥲
Hi! I’m need to your channel and love your reactions! Bo Burnham has videos on TH-cam from when he was a kid in his bedroom. “I’m Bo Yo” and “My parents think I’m gay” are so hilarious and proof that he’s been a genius forever. Have a wonderful day!
we ALL judge people, even when we try not to.. but NONE of us wanna be judged. We cant make excuses when Jesus is looking at us, we gotta be real - May as well start now
Things like this are vey important, because even if you are the most convinced religious person, you have to occacionally analyze your own beliefs in order to see if they are reasonable. Pretty much every large Christian sect admits that the bible wasn’t written directly by God, and that it was both written and compiled, and translated by humans, so it would be weird if the bible, especially the version you read in your local language, is correct all of the time. It would also be weird if you specifically interpreted the texts as intended. And it would be especially strange if you were able to put all of these texts into the proper context, with the human bias of the specific author for that specific section of the bible categorized neatly in your brain. I’m not saying this to make you doubt your faith or anything, I’m saying it so that you may use your own brain to think and debate about right or wrong for a second, so that we don’t get led astray by misinterpretations and misconceptions about your religious text of choice.
I think the superior version of this song is "Oh my God". The problem is that there's no high quality recording of it, only ones from shows. It would still be cool if you reacted to it though
Personally i am atheist. Do i try and disuade religious people against what they believe? No. I just try not to be an asshat if at possible. I grew up in a Christian church that i live across the street from now, oddly enough. Treat others as you want to be treated is the main core value for me. Thats it. Thats all. Dont be an expletive hole. Simple as that.
Judaism doesn’t really believe in heaven. We hope there is something but the main point is your actions on earth is what matters- be a good person by living by G-d and being your best self. Don’t worry about rewards
I don't know why but "No one entertains the thought that maybe God does not believe in *you*" hits SO hard
I've watched this special from Bo many times. That line still hits hard every time. I'm not even religious, but the point is poignant.
one of the best lines period
“You can safely assume you’ve created God in your own image when it turns out that God hates all the same people you do.” -Anne Lamott
Lmaooooooooo
@@BigHolla sure wish that was a funny quote. it's very serious, and the reason religion is a cancer.
One word to somewhat disprove the Bible and that word is EVOLUTION
Oh this. All of this.

That's my favorite line. If we could just make real life better, isn't that worth a try?
Glad you’re going down the Bo Burnham rabbit hole. Enjoy the ride!
It really is a "hell of a ride" XD
“From God’s Perspective” is completely bad-ass! I keep sharing it with my friends. So much good stuff to think about.

Bo: You shouldnt abstain from rape just cause you think that I want you to…
FACTS! wait what?
that first joke flew completely over your head lmao
Gotta do repeat stuff when you get the chance
pls
live not the music video
agree

5:04 is the exact point this man’s mind snapped
You GOTTA react to Words, Words, Words. He’s got so many bars
“Oh Bo” also has bars
YES!!! and also I'm bo yo too
Next my favorite, "art is dead" maybe
This was the one that made me adore Bo Burnham.
I’m so happy this guy is immune to cancel culture haha
This is one of the only songs that truly makes me laugh and cry.
I cannot state the amount of respect I have for Bo Burnham.
It's messed up how every religion's idea of heaven is a world without everyone else
Man. I hate hate hate when people don’t get why the first speaking bit is there. When people don’t react to “this is a song from the perspective of God” after the first lines make me so mad lol
Oh Bo and New Math are both bar heavy bangers!!!!🔥
Bo is always fantastic, this song was so on point for me when I first heard it. So was your reaction.

He and Bo are also friends, I’m pretty sure.
You should react to lower your expectations one of my favourite bo burnham songs
What if he's right? What if God is just gonna make us repeat this shit over and over until we get it right?
It is in Budhism.
You should react to "We Think We Know You"
Found u from one Inside react vid, now I'm down the rabbit hole of ur hilarious reacts 🤣😂 gj u saying what were all thinking..
But also repeating life until EVERYONE gets it right, is a legit night terror at this point 🤔🥲🥲🥲🥲
Oh I love this thanks so much big holla so love Bo much love an God bless x
GODDAMN TRUTH
Im pretty sure Bo is a devout pastafarian.
If not, thays one hell of a coincidence.
Pandering is another good song by him. He pokes fun at country music.
He's seen it
actual good reaction half these people sit there and don’t do nun keep it up
I agree with the Grammy comment. He has done enough and better and more, than the last few who got it.
The fact that I send God’s perspective to my sister, who is in church, makes this a bit funnier
Can you react to, new math, hoar, or oh bo? Just some more of his older content cuz theres tons more wordplay in it and stuff
He has another version of this song called OH My God( I'm not gonna fix you)
Have you seen his video 'Rant?'. OMFG.
Lower your expectations is great!
Do “welcome to the internet”from inside
Love the vid bro
According to my Catholic mom aliens are actually angels, so that's why they don't spend much time with us 🤷🏻♀️
lol My dad's a Christian and he says aliens are demons.
Right brain left brain is amazing, try it
The Bible does address Aliens. Christians just ignore it. Ezekial Chapter 1. It's worth a read.
do words, words, words
Words Words Words is pretty good too.
Gotta do "little adolf" by bo

Bo Burham- Shit. I love this song. Please do it if you can.

Great perspective. I know this isn’t the first time I’ve live this life, and it’s terrifying
Nice reaction!
LOVE
I recommend reacting to Kill People or Show Me Your Genitals by Jon Lajoie, they’re both fantastic songs
“Old people burning, old people burning, put your hands up”
When you are all done with reacting to Bo and you need your intellectual comedy fix, check out tim minchin. Worth it!
I think the superior version of this song is "Oh my God". The problem is that there's no high quality recording of it, only ones from shows. It would still be cool if you reacted to it though
React to Oh Bo by Bo Burnham
I would ask you to listen to 30, but the video isn't on TH-cam

They have a new video that puts it together better then this one.
We Think We Know You please! Also Art is Dead. :)
Pandering by bo is great!!
Gods love is not earned, He is love therefore he loves you/all. He hates sin and salvation is a gift 💯
missed the first joke... goes over many heads, rewatch
For Christianity, the whole point is that God's love ISN'T earned. It's given freely, and you just have to accept it.
My guy, ya gotta stop explaining the jokes....
Art is dead
