    Great video. Nothing beats top water for the big guns and frogs are a favorite for that. I'm fishing a lake now that is so weed choked most anglers aren't even bothering to try...I'm gonna work a frog and try to prove them all wrong.

    Hell yea, really enjoyed your video. It was even better seeing the frog I use on this video. Most of my frog fishing comes from the canals in 105 degree and hotter weather. Thanks again for all the advice and information. I emailed my fellow frog fishing buddies the link...Tight lines!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Were those docks the ones at the Oroville laugh ramps? What are some good places to fish on the delta? My grandparents live in Discovery Bay and grew up just fishing from the dock. Hvy Rod, and fast taper, along with the reel which consists of a 7:5:1 gear ratio and a 10 ball bearing gear system, my main question about this is about top water..would I be able to fish top water lures such as my booyah pad crushers, and etc. around Spring, Summer, and Fall?????

  • @MotoAtheist
    @MotoAtheist 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Lot of fishermen complain about missing bass on frogs. I only use frogs where other lures cannot go. This means I don't have any other chance to even get those bass except with a frog. So, even if I miss some, so what. I still put myself in a position to get those extra strikes where no other lure can go anyway. So, it's a frog or nothing. Even when missed, it's still exciting just getting those top water hits. The other thing is many of those bass will stay put after a miss, that's why they are in those particular spots to begin with. So, you can often get multiple attempts at hooking the same bass. We threw our frogs maybe 30 times in to this one area. Missed strike after missed strike before finally pulling two of them out. It was pretty fun.... them vs us!!

    • @InformativeFisherman
      @InformativeFisherman  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shut the break off and adjust your spoil tension knob until the frog falls slowly and hits the ground with no backlash. Then turn the breaks up half way and cast. Fine adjust from that point on.

  • @basslife7997
    @basslife7997 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why would you use a 7.1.1 gear ratio when a lower gear ratio has more torque to bring that fish out of that heavier cover that it might run into. P.s. I know a 7.1.1 can pick up line faster than that of 6.1.1 or anything lower than 7.1.1

    • @InformativeFisherman
      @InformativeFisherman  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thunderbird 12lbs drag can horse a 5lb bass out of the snot with ease most of the time and that's what most 7.1 have. I punch on the 18lb drags like the Revo SX has.
