- Hello friends, today in this video i have shown how to make a simple voltage regulator circuit using LM317 ic. You can get any regulated output voltage using upto 37V.

Components required:-
Lm317 regulator ic
2 x 100uf capacitor rated 50V
220 ohm resistor
10k potentiometer
DC Power Source

Too wide output voltage range. Hard to adjust. Use 390ohms resistor and 5k pot, will provide 1.2V-15V output voltage range. Easier to adjust.

LM317 : PIN 1 = ADJ , PIN 2 = OUT ,PIN 3 = IN ,, your diagram are showing Pin 2 as input and Pin 3 as output ,try to fix it and dont make your follower get trouble.
if he is connecting 1,2,3, wrong ,why when he testing after soldering work well? but why data sheet difference as you said!

220 ohms Resister showing in diagram between pin 1 and pin3 whereas in yr video u r showing between pin 1 and pin 2. Which one is really correct. Pl explain.

LM 317 should be with heat sink. Otherwise it may burn in heavy load.
it will definitely burn at higher current and low voltage setting.

it's easy to remember. if volts rise, ampere goes down, vice versa it's different, if amperes rise, volts go down.

Hola he armado este circuito, todo bien, pero cuando mantengo un aparato conectado constantemente el voltaje disminuye hasta que el aparato se apaga, ejemplo conecto una tv box, le pongo 5.15 v a los 10 min va decayendo hasta 4.6 y disminuyendo, es ahí que el aparato se reinicia y vuelve de nuevo a los 5.15v, son dos diferente y los coloco a un cargador de 5 v y lo mantiene perfecto, el voltaje lo alimente de una fuente atx desde los 12v que da la fuente, también había hecho el circuito con otro diagrama sin capacitores y sucedió lo mismo..

It is possible to charge a 2000F 3.6V supercap with this regulator? The supercap could draw 3A.
No if you don't limit the current with a resistor
LM317 is for 1.5 A
But you can either buy an LM338 or combine 2+ LM317 in parallel to get more current
Once I overloaded my LM317 adjustable power supply and the LM317 got very hot and started lowering output voltage.
I had it set to 12V
I powered a 1.8A server fan
It quickly heated up and the output voltage dropped to 7.5V very quickly
I was worried that I destroyed it, but I let it cool down, and it started working fine again.
What happens if the input is variable, does the output follow or does it stay at your set point?
It follows the input. There is no feedback interaction going on here that can stabalize output voltage.

Build full bridge rectifier and look if dc is less than 37 volts dc

37v is max dc you can feed in regulator, but you can take out 1.3- 36v dc , it should be stable...

This is not a voltage regulator, it is more like a voltage controller.
Gen Llamera I know, I am having a very hard time finding a voltage regulator on here, it's all freakin voltage controllers like this. I'm getting really pissed off.
Gen Llamera also I just learned they are called "Linear Regulators" so use that for your search terms.

Yes, the output can be adjusted. Do not exceed input voltage to more than 35 Volts DC. All your doubts will be better answered if you download the datasheet PDF.

Advice: If you want to put video annotations, put them at the very and of the video after the video content is over.
As I noticed, just like many TH-camrs you have done the same thing.
