He wrote this for his father who died before Bono wrote it. They had a difficult relationship. I understand the regret having lost my father three months ago and we also had a difficult and complicated relationship. I still can't listen to this without tears...

Thank you for sharing. I had no idea about Bono, their relationship, and that his father died. Music brings up so many emotions. Really sorry to hear about your Dad ❤️

@@amydavies2529 Remember his Mother died when he was much younger and he was so close to her so his relationship with his dad was always strained.

@PressStartOnce I don't know much about Bono's life, so I didn't know about his mom. Why I love comments, I learn so much.

@@amydavies2529 He is a VERY interesting guy... still married to his high school GF and he has a Daughter who is a big time actor and a son headlining a fairly popular band. And he still lives in his home town of Ireland.

I have loved U2 since I was a young teen… 1983. I finally got to a concert in 2005 and was completely blown away by how great they are ❤

Goosebumps. His father had dreams of being an Opera Singer.

First of all, congratulations to 40k subscribers. Well done 👏🍾🥳
Thank you so much for this wonderful reaction🥰🙋🏻‍♀️. And here again your feelings haven’t failed you. Bono dedicated this song to his father who died in 2001🙏. Bono‘s father was a big opera fan and especially with the line „you're the reason I sing, you're the reason why the opera is in me“ 4:32 Bono recalls their strained relationship. His father used to say „Don't dream - to dream is to be disappointed“ but rather putting dreams into action. And only shortly before the death of his father their relationship became closer. Remarkably this song won a Grammy for „Song Of The Year“ in 2006 🏆🎶.

Lost his mum when he was 14 and felt adrift as his relationship with older brother and father were not good. The song is about his relationship with his father who died a couple years before this song was written.

Big compliment ❤, this profound, but not well-known song (after all, a UK no.1), also for the video choice, one of the best live performances f this song. For me, along with the popular "With Or Without You" and "One", it is one of the 3 pieces of wisdom about a relationship if you need to turn inward again.
In the same TV show, U2 performed another juwel Miracle Drug, an uptempo song with again a very profound content of a different kind, which many may not know, but not necessarily; but a gem.
For a change you might need a fun performance like Mysterious Ways or Until The End Of The World, both live from Sydney 1993. Gratulation for 40k ✌and all the best!

I haven't heard this one before but U2 always delivers a good song. Also love a meaningful message, especially if connected with Bono's Father as other comments pointed out. 👍🎶

💥🎵🎸 Yes, that unmistakable iconic U2 sound. They have a sound, without being redundant and that is not easy. Each song still has a uniqueness along with having that U2 sound. This is a beautifully crafted work, wow!💥💕 As I am typing you are saying what I just typed...we are so on the same page. Great reaction Hap, love the dive into the song and its musicality. They are a phenomenal live band and would love to see them again. I have seen them 3 times, and they never disappoint. They create unique tours...Bjork, Pubic Enemy and U2?? Quite the lineup!! Terrific choice Uschi! Peace J ✌ ☮ 💕🦂

Between this song and “Bad,” which I believe he wrote after losing a friend to heroin, which was plaguing Ireland at the time, its a toss-up as to which song hits me harder.
