It may sound silly at first, but after this video I feel so much relieved and content. Life isn't about finding that perfect "one and only", it's about living to the full and making sure you evolve. Good things will find a way to come to you. I am happy to finally understand this
The thing is that relationships exist from an emotional to a soul level for helping you evolve more as a life on this planet. You are already complete. Soul love does not mean that there is an exact copy of you, it just means you love that person for who he or she is.

For me a soulmate or a compatible partner is someone you can respect and appreciate as a person. And he/she accepts and respects you as you are. Both should have their own space to grow into what they want to. It is a process of give and take. But before looking for a soulmate one needs to know your own self and what really makes you happy.

I believe that what should be similar between two people who are in a relationships are their values ( key elements of Life) : empathy, sense of justice, respect, humility.. to name a few. A foundation for a wholesome, sustainable partnership.
I also believe the same thing. The core values should be very similar. That way, the foundation for the bond would be strong.
I have an opinion that i want to express and share with you all in the comments.
Guru said that its good to be with someone who is different from you. But i think that, on the long run, something that keeps the relationship going till the end of the time is actually someone who is as much as same as you. The Pros of differences are that at the beggining you are experiencing something new and you are excited. Cons is that after some time all of that excitement fades away and you are stuck with someone who you don't understand and vice versa. You don't get along anymore, you don't share the same interest and you definitely don't have the similar mindset. All of the details about them that you found exciting is no longer there and it becomes to bug you. They say "differences attract each other" but differences have a different paths and destiny. They say that you can learn from differences but thats not true. If you are working on yourself everyday you will be better than your different other and you will learn nothing from them if they are not working on themselves. The best way is to GROW with someone similar to you because you will grow in the same way. And as i said, differences will grow in opposite way.

After becoming a complete person yourself. The choice is still important. you cannot just choose any nasty fellow and think that "I will put my heart and soul in it to make it wonderful." That is pretty unrealistic.
There may not be any "soulmate" so to speak. But there is always a person who is a "True Friend and Confidant" and there is the person who is just there to drag you down psychologically without any understanding.
And it is only rational to put your energies into the first kind of person. Then I don't know about a "Soul" but you can definitely end up with a good mate and have a life time partnership.

Wrong. Looks like you missed the whole point of Sadhguru's talk. The whole concept of "nasty", "drag you down", etc are constructs within you. No one can drag you down unless you let them. Besides, he also says that if you work on yourself first, perfecting your own sense of joy, good things will automatically be drawn to you. This makes sense, because as the old saying goes, "What we dislike about others or find nasty in them is actually what we hate in ourselves". 🙂

Have you ever heard of an abusive relationship? And to think that if you do good, good things will come to you is simply magical thinking. My thoughts on soulmates:
You are born complete and there are no missing parts that you need to seek in your life. We often lose our way believing we are incomplete till we find this soulmate. When we die our mind, body and soul remains on earth and with the person we love but our soul will return to its creator. Seek the connection with him to be complete. God is your soulmate.
The whole concept of "compatibility" is an internal construct. No one can drag you down or raise you up unless you let them. Besides, if you work on yourself first, perfecting your own sense of joy, good things will automatically be drawn to you. This makes sense, because as the old saying goes, "What we dislike about others or find nasty in them is actually what we hate in ourselves". 🙂
Compatibility is not just about whether someone (tries to) drag you down or lift you up. It's about sharing common goals and values. It's about making the most of your life and talents by picking someone to whom you can make a real difference, given his/her strengths and weaknesses.

Firstly, you don't need to be someone's soulmate in order to be "of most service to". If you're so inclined, you can choose to be of service to everyone around you equally well. Sadhguru says to not love one person, but to be loving to all - that is true inclusiveness.
Secondly, looking for that one person who you can be of most service too seems like a recipe for a disastrous co-dependent relationship. A soulmate is not someone who needs you or you need to be with, but rather a meeting of equals.
Ii seems rather apparent that you've learnt very little from what Sadhguru has said in his numerous lectures, since these are pretty much among his central teachings. Makes me wonder what you're doing here listening to his videos if you don't even intend on following the path he's laid out.

whoever who makes you feel that you should get 'involved' and 'committed' is the 'right' person. it's more about what the other person 'makes you feel' than what they really are. if nobody makes you feel that way (at least at a given moment), then better to be on your own.
I'm not single, but my current boyfriend is busy all the time [working 20 hours a day so he sort of neglects me] and it's so difficult to find others like him that are pure/virgin, pretty, smart, respectful and submissive to me, who would do anything for me, etc. And being an artist I also hope I can meet at least one guy who has all those qualities plus artistic talent one day... I've always dated multiple guys, but since I met this guy I've only been with him IRL as I could not find others with those qualities. He's the only guy I've been intimate with [we haven't had sx tho] so far, and I've known him for 7 years. My previous relationships were not serious relationships, but with him it was different as we were supposed to get married.
