Thank you so much. I am doing a private screening of my short film in November and I have never and I have never exported as a DCP. This video has taken away a lot of nervous anxiety I had around doing this. I am definitely subscribing ... this was so valuable

I transfer vhs thru a canopus converter directly into adobe premier pro then go to export via adobe premier pro export and am not sure which available format out of all that are available to deliver best results on a thumb drive?
This worked perfectly for me. Played it in the theatre today. MAKE SURE YOUR HARD DRIVE IS EXT2 FORMATTED! Had to purchase a plugin to make this happen by cinematiq. May be another way, but I didn't have time to question it as the formatting process takes around two hours.
I absolutely take that as a compliment and you're not the only one to say I sound like Bob Odenkirk. You might find this tutorial interesting: th-cam.com/video/fJsELz7Vlsw/w-d-xo.html
Hi Colin, Another great video. I've not personally had to use the Wraptor preset for DCPs, so it was great to see how it worked, but I have made a few using a much longer workflow using OpenDCP, and I'm wondering if that may also be worth a video? By that I mean changing the aspect ratio and frame rate manually if the project does't already conform to standards, and exporting a TIFF image sequences in AE. Then splitting your own audio to mono within Audition. Then using something like Open DCP to convert TIFF to JPEG2K & XYZ colour space, the JPEG2K + your audio to MXF and just generally compiling your final DCP package. ...Or any similar methods you may know. It's also a good lesson in making sure you have a very organised file structure, the importance of maintaining a Master file, and allowing for some tips on storage requirements. You could also define XYZ and explain why it looks weird on RGB monitors. (Interestingly, that's what I thought you were going to suggest). If the workflow is just pointlessly long or you're not familiar with it, then ignore the suggestion. But I think it's cool to have seen and to at least be aware of all the steps that the streamlined techniques are now doing for you. Or maybe you can implement some of this stuff into future videos. (Or maybe you already have).
Thanks for the suggestion but I don't think this subject is popular enough for my audience. Yes, there are definitely users exporting to DCP but a tutorial on this magnitude would require some major preparations and storage space to get done. Sorry.
Hey, great video! I've been trying several times to export my project as a DCP but it always ends the same way: "a low level exeption occurred in: Wraptor DCP (Exporter 9)". Can anyone help?
i want to start 2 hours movie editing, all clips in 4k footage.. and want to export in DCP but before what about sequence settings.. how to make DCP sequence settings.. please make video on this
You really should be familiar with Premiere Pro and Sequence settings before you begin to create a feature. I'd suggest watching my Start Here playlist.
@@VideoRevealed I am familiar with premiere pro.. But i am confused about my all clips in 4k and I want to export in dcp 2k so which sequence settings need to apply 2k or 4k?
Hello ! Thank you for your video! :) I've got a little question about my format image. My movie was shot in 4:3, so I wanted to know when I will be exporting in Flat, will the format of 4:3 be respected on the big screen ? Thank you so much !
@@VideoRevealed I actually had the same question! By scaling it down, do you mean in the sequence settings? I made a new sequence (Arri Cinema preset) and that gave it black bars and now the whole film is in frame(It wasn't before when I tried to export DCP). Just double checking if that's what you meant?
@@kingsleypascal5092 If I shot in 4:3 I would edit it in a 16x9 timeline with black bars but if you already exported it then just put that exported master that is hopefully in ProRes or high bitrate H.264 into a new 16x9 timeline. Make sure to double and triple check that everything is in order too!
@@nateo200 Thanks so much! I think I'm going to finish editing and export out of the 16x9 timeline I made. If you have any advice on how to test an exported DCP file before putting it in theatres it would be much appreciated! Just thought I would check! Thanks again!
Deadpool Gone Girl Hail Caesar, and many others. They were edited in Premiere Pro but just like Avid, the output would be handled by an outside finishing house.
Thank you for this video. Just a question about the sound. if the audio (stero original) was set to stereo can it be played on 5.1? Or I'll need to make a 5.1 export and pan and copy the tracks?
You can set the audio to 5.1 but honestly, I'd suggest looking for a better DCP solution. There are many out there, I just don't have any experience with them but they have had many updates and Wraptor is still the same.
Hey Colin! I’m filming clips to put together via iPhone and my Canon photography camera for a private screening of my documentary/visual album at a Cinemark movie theater. I wanted to know your opinion on quality and if this would be possible if I convert everything to DCP format once I’m done editing the documentary?
Yes you can export to DCP but I only show the Wraptor DCP plug-in; you still need to format a hard drive in a specific way for final delivery. I am no help with that part. Also, since releasing this, I am suggesting users try a different product. I suggest you contact the theater and ask them. I'm sure they'd give you suggestions.
Hi Collin, really a very helpful revelation for me. I have been struggling to arrange funds to make a DCP and upgrade my stereo mix to a 5.1 channel mix. My film is at Cannes Short Film Corner this year and they want a DCP with 5.1 channel audio mix. Will try out the steps you recommended. Hoping for a miracle here and its not even Christmas !!!
Thank you for the video! Somehow my premiere pro dont shows me this option. I found it in the format menu but when i choose it its not working. Do you by chance now why this can be?...Thank you!
super in INDIA i had done a movie in my own production that was i am going to give the out they are asking in DPX. shall i give in DCP will you please explain
DCP does not use DPX to export. If they're asking for DCP then give them DCP but you'll have to format a drive and it's a much more involved process. This tutorial only shows the export preset. I suggest you talk with the theater to get more information. DPX is an image format, there is no audio in a DPX file.
Thanks for the video. Really helpful and clear. You didn't mention what kind of file burns out and how you need bring that to the cinema, On a DVD, or a flash drive???? Thanks again.
Sorry if I missed the answer to this, but what is the best aspect ratio to be editing in if the output is going to DCP? It seems the aspect ratio of the DCP video file is unique unto itself. Therefore, wouldn't it make sense to preset the DCP aspect ratio size in premier when editing?
Hi Colin, thank you for the tutorial. Do you know if the most theaters can take these off of normal usb drives, or would it be necessary to get a DCP Drive?
Thanks for this Colin. I have some nested clips in my sequence that have the stabilizing effect on them. Could this be what's causing PP to crash when I go to do a DCP output? The output worked fine before the nested clips. Also on a 30fps timeline. Do you recommend I rent the version that will do 30fps? I'm not sure that will play in a theatre. Thanks Colin. Nancy
Try rendering out the clips with stabilization on them to see if that fixes the problem. I would suggest looking at other solutions to export a DCP for something critical like a public viewing. QUVIS is working on an update but I have no idea when (or if) that will be released.
Thanks Colin. It was the stabilizing filter that was making DCP crash. Thought other may want to know that too. Much gratitude for you Colin. Nancy @@VideoRevealed
Hi - Thanks for the info! I've sent my video to the theater that will be showing it, however they say it's tagged as a Feature (FTR) and need it to be tagged as an Advertisement (ADV). Can I do that with this?
Hello Colin. Been using PPro for about 5 months now. Newbie and first feature. Can you please tell me more about Wraptor's stereo or 5.1 export setting? My film is in stereo. If I select stereo in Wraptor DCP how does that finalize? Does it create a faux 5.1 for theater speakers or does that only use the front L and R speakers with silence in all other theater speakers? Do i HAVE TO buy a stereo to 5.1 plugin for PPro to automatically upscale to 5.1 so that theater speakers will not be silent? Those plugins are like $500! No one has been able to answer this for me..not even Adobe techs! Please help! Thanks so much!
The simplest answer is to put your media into a new Sequence with a 5.1 Master which will put your stereo tracks to L, R, Ls, Rs. So you have the option of dragging your complete stereo Sequence into a new 5.1 Sequence or drag in all the separate pieces using the feature in this tutorial: th-cam.com/video/QFXsNV43c18/w-d-xo.html This is the only way to guarantee your output rather than trust another plug-in. It only takes a couple seconds, it protects your original Sequence and gives you ultimate control. That's what I would do.
Thanks for the vid. QUESTION - When working on MAC OS's how do you transfer the DCP package to the HD? I have been told that DCP HD's need a very unique LINUX formatting and that drive is not readable by MAC's. Also some sites have suggested that the quality coming out of ADOBE's DCP option are not nearly as good as DCP-O-Matic which is free and open source... do you have any info / experience with either of these things?
Well, as far as the drive is concerned, if it is not readable by MAC, then you can install NTFS for MAC, which will act as a bridge between MAC and Windows for transferring any day. It will detect the Windows formatted drive. In case you are facing issues creating the J2k DCP, you can check out this site, they provide Mov/Mp4 to J2k Conversion at very competitive prices. I edited a movie with premiere pro cc 2017. I want to enter it in film festivals. Each accepts various formats DVD, Blu-Ray Discs, DCP, Thumb Drive, and Digital upload. 16:9 progressive-scan 1080p HD video at 23.976 frames per second. 48kHz audio. What would be the best export settings? Thank you
Those settings are pretty standard with the exception of the actual codec used. For DVD and Blur-ray, those formats are restricted to that specific media. For 16:9 @ 23.976 you could use any one of the formats available from H.264 to uncompressed 10-bit. Normally, film festivals publish the exact format to use, including the codec, so it's best to ask before you send it.
@@VideoRevealed The festival we're submitting to explicitly says "The exhibition systems in use at this festival are known to be incompatible with DCPs made using the Quvis Wraptor Plugin for Adobe products. DCPs found to be created using this software will be summarily rejected." Is there another option?
Hello and thank you for the video! My first time to this so my question might be obvious but I shot 1920x1080. Is exporting as Flat 1998x1080 doable with these original dimensions? Thanks in advance!
Yes, but the image will not look that good. The only way to enlarge a frame is to scale it up and that causes the image to loose clarity and become "soft" (slightly blurred).
Thanks for the video, Colin! Quick question: I see that in your timeline your video is letterboxed (I guess to scope aspect ratio), my question is: when you adjust the aspect ratio in the wraptor settings to scope, will it letterbox it on top of the letterbox of your edited video? Do I need to remove any cropping in my timeline before exporting? Cheers!
My recommendation is that your Sequence settings are the same as the export settings. A 16:9 Sequence will be reformatted and you might have things cropped out of the frame.
Hi Colin, thanks for the tutorial. I have a 6-minute tribute video. The project is 1080p, all media is uncompressed .m2ts files sourced from bluray, with varying aspect ratios. It's going to be exhibited at an opera house and the theater folks are asking for a DCP. Are there any steps involved in exporting a 1080p sequence as DCP? Which resolution would you recommend? Do I need to make any scaling changes to the sequence?
If you don't manually scale the media, the Wraptor export will scale to 2k automatically. My recommendation is to manually scale each clip to 2k so you know what you're going to get before hand.
I have a question, the sound pass that we got is 5.1, but we added music in premiere pro in stereo tracks. If I choose the 5.1 or stereo option, will we only hear the 5.1 or stereo tracks?
You need to manually set the music to the correct channels to hear it mixed in 5.1 if you choose that output. If your Master is stereo, then your output would be the same. This tutorial might help: th-cam.com/video/Tb4HwSUrAjw/w-d-xo.html
Thank you so much, this video was a life saver! Quick questions. What should the drive I'm delivering on, be formatted to. Additionally, Does the export still need to be processed through an application like opendcp to complete the delivery? Thanks again, this has been a great help!
I'm not sure of the format of the drive, but ExFAT would give you cross platform support. It's probably best to open a dialog with whomever you're sending this to. As far as I know the DCP is created completely with Wraptor DCP and doesn't require any other processing.
Hi sir this is my first time to do DCP. And i was wondering how do i export my video even without using QUV Website? Is it really needed? I tried exporting without QUV15 but the file isnt there
Closed Captioning is based on a small text file that contains the text of the captions, the styling and the timing. Systems that display CC data use this file and not the actual video. So a Sidecar File is a file that sits beside the main video in a directory and it's not actually embedded.
VideoRevealed ok, I understand, similar to DVDs. I have seen a tutorial where someone shows how to create a dcp with subtitles using opendcp, so I know what you mean. My question is if one can do this with Adobe premiere and the free dcp plugin within. Any info on this? Much appreciated for your time and effort here, I am starting to learn about DCP and have a client who wants optional subs.
I was able to select the options for both Open and Closed captions while exporting to the Wraptor DCP format. Other than that, I really have no information.
Hello colin! Thank you for the great tutorial, I have a quick question for you! I have a 4 minute short film and need to export it as a DCP for multiple film festivals. When I go to export it says the file size is 56GB. Is this a mistake or do DCP files usually come that large? Thank you for your time keep up the great videos!
I have a MOV video file of my short film already made, can I still convert that MOV into a DCP ? or does it have to have all the raw clips I shot in a sequence timeline to make a DCP?
Would these steps work on the current Premier Pro? There's a film festival I want to submit to where they require a DCP if selected. I only shot in 2K so I'd use the standard built-in software. Are these steps all I need to do for them if selected?
Hello Colin - I'm attempting to export an mp4 to dcp, and have more than a few questions for you. First - the original film's master mp4 was created using many different video formats (different shooters, different cameras), shot over a two year period, and edited in 29.97, square pixels, and stereo audio. We are converting to DCP at the direction of a film festival who accepted the video. My question is, can this file be successfully converted to DCP with the current files master settings?
I have converted a 35mm to ProRes 442 HQ master 1920 X 1080 stereo. Film was shot in 1:85 format. Can I create a DCP for theatrical screening from my ProRes 442 HQ master? Will it be "widescreen"? Thanks in advance.
Do you know if you need to put the DCP on an external hard drive for film festivals or do festivals just take the files electronically over the internet? I've made my movie on a really old sony vegas software that does not have these capabilities and I was planning on saving the whole film as a .mp4 then dragging it to Adobe to save it as a DCP, do you think that would work? It's the first movie that I'm trying to send to film festivals and I had no knowledge of DCP until after I finished editing it.
I suggest you hire someone to create the DCP hard drive as it requires special formatting. Also, converting your movie to MP4 is a bad idea as the compression is not good for quality.
This video helped me a lot. But I do have one question. I have the specs from a distributor who asks: a DCP (not encrypted!) compliant with the DCI specification (SMPTE (JPEG 2000) 24fps @ 1080p or 2K)... So, if I follow your guide, chooses 24 fps, am I compiant witht the DCI specs?
Hi! Is that true, that the cinemas uses a technology like: Separate Video and Separate Audio. Like the video is 2K WDCP and the Audio is Dolby Digital 5.1 or even Atmos?
Hello Collin. Thank you for the video. Do you know if it’s possible to classify the DCP file as “advertising”. The encoder tags it as a “feature” and Im producing commercials for the cinema and they wont play unless they are tagged as “advertising”. Thank you
HD footage will not be as good as actually having 2k footage. Wraptor DCP will automatically scale the HD content to 2k using their own special algorithm, but it's totally up to you if you think it looks okay. I have not tried it because I don't have a DCP player.
should I export my audio as wav out of final cut pro and will that work for DCP in theaters? I watched my movie today in a theater and the audio was playing dialogue in different scenes where I could hear both audio dialogue from 2 separate scenes playin in One....and sometimes it was fine even near the end. I had a worker ingest my dCP file into his movie theater projector. I wonder if it was an issue with ingestion...I have my audio exported at 48k 24bit so should work
Hello: My sequence was shot and edited originally in 29.97fps. If Im going to use the included plug-in (basic version of Wraptor) which will export the file in 24fps, should change it to 24fps or 23.97 in Premiere Pro CC?
My iMac keeps crashing when exporting a 32 min film as a DCP. The file will render as 36GB so I am wondering if it is just to much for my iMac to contend with! Thank you for this video though :)
32 GB isn't too large for Premiere Pro to export correctly. Try testing export to something else like H.264 to make sure the media on the Timeline isn't the problem.
What do u save dcp file to if ur mailing it off to someone. Its for a film festival so not sure how to mail it . They suggest I send it through the mail . How do I do that is it put on thumb drive something else?
DCPs require a Linux formatted external drive. This tutorial is just about using Wraptor DCP. You still have a ton of work to do to actually make the drive. There are a number of tutorials out there. Sorry but that's all I got.
Thank you, Sir Colin! I'm doing a movie mixing in Adobe Audition. How can I make DCP with dolby coding for a movie theater in my city? How is it better for me to do this from Premiere Pro? I really like Dolby compression and sound in general. I need it for the film festival. Thank you! :)
Thanks for the tutorial. You have always a correct amount of detail explanation according to the length of your videos. I am exporting an 84-minute movie and the estimate file size is over 100gb but at the end its size is just 24gb. Why is this happening because all I´ve read says it should be between 0,75 to 1gb per minute? Many thanks in advance.
The level of compression is not constant and will change depending on how complex the frames are in comparison to the previous and next frame. If you export a solid black video, it will compress to almost nothing because there isn't much information and all frames are identical. If you export a video of the view outside a moving car, it will be larger and take longer to compress because every pixel in every frame is completely different. Make sense?
Hello Colin, I was exporting in DCP from Premiere Pro CC 2018. However, it exported a SEPARATE audio and video file. Do you know why? Is this how it's supposed to be? If so, then what's the solution to make it as one file (audio & video)?
@videorevealed Why are you saying that subtitles shouldn't be used? I need english subtitles for international festival versions, and it would be nice to use the built-in ones from premiere. Or did you just not test that feature?
Thanks for subscribing. I don't have anything and I'd recommend just using the built-in presets for disc authoring. They were developed by Adobe engineers and they are the best settings for those formats.
@@VideoRevealed Thanks for the response. I didn't even know that there were disc authoring settings in Premiere. Looks like I have some more searching to do. Any recommendations for tutorials?
Question, It's been reported that Wraptor DCP out of PP cc does not play on GDC theater servers, this was a couple of years ago, I've asked Adobe about this a few times and never got an answer, I'm thinking maybe you can get a response ?
I am having pixelation problems (H.264) after export in Adobe Premiere Pro cc 2017. The edit sequence is fine, no issues there. VBR 12 & 16. Any suggestions? Thanks
Are you talking about DCP export? If so, is your Sequence setting 2k or 4k? If you're talking about the standard H.264 setting, it's impossible for me to know without looking at your settings and comparing that to the exported file. Have you tried importing the export back into Premiere Pro and checking the properties of the file? Look for something that has changed the frame size to a smaller size than expected. Have you tried one of the presets? Does the preset also have the same problem?
Imported the export back into premiere pro. There is still some pixelation. Exporting original sequence again, changed settings. New settings are: Output - H.264, 1920 x 1080 (1.0), 23.976 fps, progressive, ACC, 320 kbs, 48 kHz, 5.1 (L,R, LFE, Ls, Rs) CBR, VBR 20. Source 1920 x 1080 (1.0), 23.976 fps progressive, 48000Hz, Stereo. A number of premiere pro cc users are having problems with pixelation after exporting H.264. BTW - I am not talking about DCP export. Thanks
Hi Aman. I have the same query. can u help me with this if u have got the idea My dcp export are shoeing mxf files that too audio and video separately. Theatre has asked for j2k.format. please guide. thanks
I have 1920 x 1080 video I need exported in dcp scope. However it crop bars my image. Do I need to export in 720 and allow it to scale in or how do I get around this?
1920 X 1080 is the wrong aspect ratio to fit in scope. If you want the full frame, scale your Timeline 79%. The top and bottom will fit, but you'll have black bars on the side. Or crop.
Hi Colin! how can i do encrypt version when i need to deliver theater by KDM. I can create 2k DCP for my feature film by wraptor dcp in PrPro CC2018 . I still need to do encrypt version. Pls guide me right a way.
I don't know if you have posted a video about the topic or not but please make a video on How to Export videos from premiere pro in High Quality. Your videos are really very much helpful.
The term "high quality" means different things to different users. It can mean 4k OpenEXR or TH-cam HD, it all depends on who you are delivering your video to. If TH-cam is your destination, then I use the Adobe TH-cam 1080p preset. Are you going out to something else, like broadcast television or theater distribution?

Hi, I am trying to create wraptor .DCP file but out has a folder and has two files one audio and the other is video file. It does not play together. How should I go about it?
Hi Colin. Here's my experience with this: Both for exporting for broadcast and creating a DCP, after much labor and following your tutorial and others I had to bail on exporting from PrPro and left it to a (high-end) finishing house to export for broadcast and for creating BluRays since their charge for the DCP was too steep. They actually work with FCP 7 for exporting multitrack audio for broadcast since they and others in the industry (according to them) find PrPro tools for this too frustrating! The DCP I attempted to create simply failed over and over. I'm assuming one doesn't need to rent the QuVis package, it seems like you are saying one works with the software in Adobe. One issue I heard about and is it true?) that you need to export to a linux formatted portable drive to deliver to a projectionist. This was for a 55 minute PBS doc BTW. Any info on this welcome!
I have worked with many of the top media companies in North America and Premiere Pro works just fine for multichannel broadcast. Many of the existing features for broadcast were developed by the BBC and CNN. Usually when someone is using FCP7, it's because they are trying to use Premiere Pro like FCP7 and not learn the new features (which are way more powerful for audio). All the DCP stuff I showed was based on Wraptor and not Adobe technology so you'd have to ask QuVIS about that. Honestly, I have zero experience of actually delivering DCPs, I was just asked to do a tutorial on the features in Premiere Pro.
Hi, I'm going to launch my film in theaters soon, but I need help with the subtitle file that needs to be converted from .srt file to dcp. The cinema operator needs this as dcp and not .srt. How can I do this?
yeah... I mean after exporting properly what are the process to copy the file into the dedicated HARD DRIVE for shipping... is it simply copy and paste or little different....
I'm sorry but I don't know and it would be best to communicate directly with the theater for the answer. I would assume you just copy the whole folder to the drive.
Hello Colin. Have you tried the 2k DCP or heard some feedback on how it looks? I also have a suggestion/request for next video that I think might get attention. You know how you mentioned that Wraptop upresses HD. Now is there an actual way to upres HD not in DCP ? I heard that there are few plugins like Magic bullets Instant 4k and somthing in AE, but i heard also that they really dont do anything. I think that this topic is very interesting and i know that you would provide good facts. Thanks.
Personally, I think scaling anything larger isn't good. I don't care how good the scaling algorithm is, it's still not the real thing. After Effects uses Detail-preserving Upscale (which is from Photoshop) and the results are not easy to see. Sorry but I just think if you want to create something in 2k, you shoot in 2k. And 4k is so much more affordable now so it makes perfect sense to shoot 4k.

Great! Any big feature film which was edited in Premiere Pro?
Sujay Bhosale "Hail Caesar", "Deadpool", "Gone Girl".

Chris Geden Thanks man!
Deadpool
Gone Girl
Hail Caesar, and many others.
Good luck and congrats on getting into Cannes!
I tried to Export as you said, but i can't find option wraptor DCP in Export menu. I'm using premiere pro v.7.0.0,help me please
You need to upgrade to the latest version of Premiere Pro CC.
Thank you for the video! Somehow my premiere pro dont shows me this option. I found it in the format menu but when i choose it its not working. Do you by chance now why this can be?...Thank you!
I'm sorry I don't know why. Make sure you're using the latest version of Premiere Pro.
super in INDIA i had done a movie in my own production that was i am going to give the out they are asking in DPX. shall i give in DCP will you please explain
DCP does not use DPX to export. If they're asking for DCP then give them DCP but you'll have to format a drive and it's a much more involved process. This tutorial only shows the export preset. I suggest you talk with the theater to get more information.
DPX is an image format, there is no audio in a DPX file.
Awesome can you play it back on a computer?
Thanks for the video. Really helpful and clear. You didn't mention what kind of file burns out and how you need bring that to the cinema, On a DVD, or a flash drive???? Thanks again.
This tutorial is only about Wraptor DCP.
@@VideoRevealed So...you don't know? It's entirely okay if you don't know, of course, but you don't need to swerve the question.
@@charliemcgrain You need to contact the cinema and get those details from them😊
@@judgabrielnelson It turns out it need to be on a Linux or Windows formatted hard drive. Very important detail for mac users.
Yes it makes sense to use the same aspect ratio in the Timeline.
Perfect timing - Thanks, Collin!
You're welcome Chris.
thanks for the video Mick! how many files are generated when you use the wraptor DCP format?
It's Colin by the way. 😛
I'm not sure how many files are generated.
@@VideoRevealed Thanks Colins! sorry for the mistake about your name...
Hi Colin, thank you for the tutorial. Do you know if the most theaters can take these off of normal usb drives, or would it be necessary to get a DCP Drive?
I think every theater is different and you have to contact them to be sure.
I want to play my video on projector. Shoot video with dslr d650
It is possible?
If possible in which setting we export video!? Please help...
Projectors connect just like a standard monitor via HDMI so any format work. Try standard TH-cam 1080p HD.
@@VideoRevealed thank you so much.
Nancy

Hi - Thanks for the info! I've sent my video to the theater that will be showing it, however they say it's tagged as a Feature (FTR) and need it to be tagged as an Advertisement (ADV). Can I do that with this?
I can't see any options for changing or adding tags.
Hi, Doug! I'm having the same issue... Have you been able to figure out the way to change it to ADV yet?
Hi, is there any option to render 7.1 audio in dcp.
So you have the option of dragging your complete stereo Sequence into a new 5.1 Sequence or drag in all the separate pieces using the feature in this tutorial: th-cam.com/video/QFXsNV43c18/w-d-xo.html
This is the only way to guarantee your output rather than trust another plug-in.
I'm sorry I have no experience beyond the included version of Wraptor DCP. If you have any questions, I would suggest contacting Quvis. www.quvis.com/
Https://j2kconversion.com.I hope this may solve your issue.
Can I export my DCP onto a normal external hard drive or thumb drive, or do I need a special device of some sort?
DCPs need to be delivered with specially formatted drives. This tutorial only covers Wraptor DCP. I don't know much beyond that. Sorry.
Thanks for share,it's very useful , In my computer premiere procc 2017 but the Wraptor DCP preset still isn't showing up

@@VideoRevealed The festival we're submitting to explicitly says "The exhibition systems in use at this festival are known to be incompatible with DCPs made using the Quvis Wraptor Plugin for Adobe products. DCPs found to be created using this software will be summarily rejected."

i realy like your channel i watching this channel before 4 month..
That's great to hear.
This is really a very useful tutorial. Thank you so much... Can we also export to J2K format in premiere?
There is an option for JPEG 2000 in the Export dialog box.
Which is the best quality in HD of a Hollywood full length digital when export a movie.
Wraptor doesn't export HD.
Thanks sir.
Oh okay, thank you for getting back to me about it. Very helpful!
Hello Colin! I'm just wondering is the DCP here Interop or SMTP? Thank you for the video!
Wraptor doesn't indicate but seeing as SMPTE is the standard, I'd say it's SMPTE.
very helpful video.....thanks
You're welcome.
This is a very basic question. Once you've created your DCP file in Premiere 2017, will you be able to play the file in premiere to see how it looks?
It's actually a folder that's created and yes you can import the separate video and audio files thing that folder.
This tutorial might help:
th-cam.com/video/Tb4HwSUrAjw/w-d-xo.html
Colin, this is a problem if you protected for 4:3 aspect ratio
Thank you so much, this video was a life saver! Quick questions. What should the drive I'm delivering on, be formatted to. Additionally, Does the export still need to be processed through an application like opendcp to complete the delivery? Thanks again, this has been a great help!
I'm not sure of the format of the drive, but ExFAT would give you cross platform support. It's probably best to open a dialog with whomever you're sending this to. As far as I know the DCP is created completely with Wraptor DCP and doesn't require any other processing.
Fantastic. I will do that. Thanks so much!
I've allowed this comment on my channel but I don't endorse it or have any knowledge of how well it works.
ExFAT probably won't be recognized by the theater's servers.
Played fine in the Starlight Cinemas in Costa Mesa, CA.
Thank you so much! Very helpful. We would love to see the DaVinci tutorial version. Best
Thanks for your support. Sorry to say, but I don't use DaVinci Resolve so I'm not much help.

Hi sir this is my first time to do DCP. And i was wondering how do i export my video even without using QUV Website? Is it really needed?
I tried exporting without QUV15 but the file isnt there
This tutorial is about Wraptor DCP in Premiere Pro. You only need the QUVIS website if you want 4k.
Does the free version of Wraptor, inside PP 2017, have the option to include embedded (optional) subtitles?
I only see options to Create Sidecar File for captions.
What exactly is that, Sidecar File?
Whatever the estimate is, it's probably correct.
I have a MOV video file of my short film already made, can I still convert that MOV into a DCP ? or does it have to have all the raw clips I shot in a sequence timeline to make a DCP?
Any video can be exported as a DCP.
ok great, I thought you only could do it with all the raw camera/audio clips in a sequence like you showed in your video. Thanks for the reply
Would these steps work on the current Premier Pro? There's a film festival I want to submit to where they require a DCP if selected. I only shot in 2K so I'd use the standard built-in software. Are these steps all I need to do for them if selected?
Yes this makes the DCP, but you need to deliver it on a hard drive that is formatted correctly. That's beyond this tutorial.
@@VideoRevealed I'm pretty sure I could figure that part out. Doesn't seem too difficult. Just in case, you don't have a video on that do you?
Hello Colin - I'm attempting to export an mp4 to dcp, and have more than a few questions for you. First - the original film's master mp4 was created using many different video formats (different shooters, different cameras), shot over a two year period, and edited in 29.97, square pixels, and stereo audio. We are converting to DCP at the direction of a film festival who accepted the video. My question is, can this file be successfully converted to DCP with the current files master settings?
I'm sorry I have no experience beyond the included version of Wraptor DCP. If you have any questions, I would suggest contacting Quvis. www.quvis.com/
I have converted a 35mm to ProRes 442 HQ master 1920 X 1080 stereo. Film was shot in 1:85 format. Can I create a DCP for theatrical screening from my ProRes 442 HQ master? Will it be "widescreen"? Thanks in advance.
Your output will be whatever the Wraptor frame size you choose. 2048 X 1080, 2048 X 858, 1998 X 1080.
I have the specs from a distributor who asks: a DCP (not encrypted!) compliant with the DCI specification (SMPTE (JPEG 2000) 24fps @
1080p or 2K)... So, if I follow your guide, chooses 24 fps, am I compiant witht the DCI specs?
Yes Wraptor DCP creates 24 fps files and I don't see any options for encryption.
Hi! Is that true, that the cinemas uses a technology like: Separate Video and Separate Audio. Like the video is 2K WDCP and the Audio is Dolby Digital 5.1 or even Atmos?
Sorry, I have no information on that.
Not a problem. Thanks!
Hello Collin. Thank you for the video. Do you know if it’s possible to classify the DCP file as “advertising”. The encoder tags it as a “feature” and Im producing commercials for the cinema and they wont play unless they are tagged as “advertising”. Thank you
I found the tag under an xml file.
Honestly I really don't know anything more than what you see in the options. Sorry.

raw footage in 1920*1080. can i render it in 2k or if not is 1920 *1080 crope in cinemascope ratio can be played in theather without any blur images
I wonder if it was an issue with ingestion...I have my audio exported at 48k 24bit so should work
This tutorial is only about using the Wraptor DCP plug-in so I'm not much help beyond that.
do you have to set 24p if camera shoots 24p?
No, you don't have to but it makes sense to create Sequences that match the camera.
Hello: My sequence was shot and edited originally in 29.97fps. If Im going to use the included plug-in (basic version of Wraptor) which will export the file in 24fps, should change it to 24fps or 23.97 in Premiere Pro CC?
should change it to 24fps or 23.97 in Premiere Pro CC before doing the dcp
You don't have to change the Sequence settings as the Wraptor DCP preset will convert to either 24 or 25 fps.
Thanks
My iMac keeps crashing when exporting a 32 min film as a DCP. The file will render as 36GB so I am wondering if it is just to much for my iMac to contend with! Thank you for this video though :)
32 GB isn't too large for Premiere Pro to export correctly. Try testing export to something else like H.264 to make sure the media on the Timeline isn't the problem.

Thank you, Sir Colin! I'm doing a movie mixing in Adobe Audition. How can I make DCP with dolby coding for a movie theater in my city? How is it better for me to do this from Premiere Pro? I really like Dolby compression and sound in general. I need it for the film festival. Thank you! :)
Dolby encoding has been removed from Premiere Pro CC 2018 so Audition is your best bet.
Thanks for the answer, Colin! And how is it possible to merge AC3 with Jpeg200 in DCP?
I'm sorry but I don't know how or if it's possible.
Make sense?
Thanks for answering so fast.
Hello Colin,
I was exporting in DCP from Premiere Pro CC 2018. However, it exported a SEPARATE audio and video file. Do you know why? Is this how it's supposed to be? If so, then what's the solution to make it as one file (audio & video)?
Yes, that's the correct format for DCP. If you want video and audio together, choose many of the other formats like H.264.
@videorevealed Why are you saying that subtitles shouldn't be used? I need english subtitles for international festival versions, and it would be nice to use the built-in ones from premiere. Or did you just not test that feature?
Wraptor doesn't currently support captions.
Do you have a video on exporting for DVD and Blu-Ray? Great channel. Just subscribed.

Question, It's been reported that Wraptor DCP out of PP cc does not play on GDC theater servers, this was a couple of years ago, I've asked Adobe about this a few times and never got an answer, I'm thinking maybe you can get a response ?
You'd be better to ask someone at QuVIS as it's their technology that Adobe has licensed.
Thanks
The next thing to try is to render without GPU acceleration to see if it's a driver issue. Other than that, I really have no idea.

Or crop.
I don't see myself ever doing that but after watching your video I know I could if I had to; and could make some money doing it.

VideoRevealed No. TH-cam HD is fine. Thank You very much. It was one of the main concern for me. Thank You Very Much.

Honestly, I have zero experience of actually delivering DCPs, I was just asked to do a tutorial on the features in Premiere Pro.
hi, do you have Adobe Premiere Pro installed ??? I have Adobe Premiere Pro CS6, but there is no DCP format. Please answer me
You need the latest version of Premiere Pro.
Hi, I'm going to launch my film in theaters soon, but I need help with the subtitle file that needs to be converted from .srt file to dcp. The cinema operator needs this as dcp and not .srt. How can I do this?
Hello! Sorry, I have the same question here, Did you find a way to solve it??
thank you sir for information..
You're welcome.
Awesome info. Thanks!
You're welcome.
Great Video..
Thanks.
great... now can you make a tutorial about writing those file into hard drive please?
If you press the Export button, that's all it takes. Premiere Pro will make the folder with the correct DCP assets. Am I missing something?
Sorry I'm not much help after pressing the Export button in Premiere Pro. Please contact QuVIS with your questions.
How to rendering wrap to dcp for 5.1...
And 4k is so much more affordable now so it makes perfect sense to shoot 4k.
can i select 2048x1080(full) instead of 2048x858(scope) with flat, 24fps?? plz help i dont want my video get cut on top and bottom.
Yes, that's one of the options I show in the tutorial.
Thank you
