  • Disclaimer: I filmed this video back in January right after Kobe Bryant, his daughter and the 7 other passengers on in that helicopter crash had passed away. I was not in a good space as I am a Kobe Bryant and LA Lakers fan.

Omg, I feel like we're the same person. I'm also a midwifery student. Also at second year. Also love midwifery for all reasons you said plus a lot more as you said at the beginning and I did gymnastics when I was younger. Love you ❤️ keep doing what you doing, girl you just rockk

I love your videos Louisa😍😍😍 i’ve been considering midwifery school for almost a year and a half and I actually got accepted to the Florida school of midwifery here in the states! Then I chickened out and started massage school.

Aww I hope you enjoy being a masseuse. But if you ever get the confidence to go to midwifery school, do it 😃

hi louisa!! i’m in sixth form atm but i’m really intrigued by midwifery so i’ve been watching all your videos to get more insight on it but i was wondering, is it obligatory to take at least one science at sixth form before going into midwifery? i take sociology (and two other non-science essay subjects) which i guess you could say is a social science, but i’ve been uncertain because i’m soooo interested in taking a midwifery course but not sure if i’d be at a disadvantage from not taking a natural science prior to uni. thank u for this video!💗

No you don't need science as an A level. I hope you applied!

Is there an option of working part time as a midwife after qualifying to shorten the shifts for example?

Hi, yes there is. it’s usually around 2 long shifts a week

Hi Louisa, I’ve been aspiring to be a midwife for years now and I’m currently in year 12, however I’ve always wondered what are the normal/average working hours are for a community midwife? What time would you start and finish a shift? And is it possible to study midwifery/ be a midwife and have a family/ maintain a social life? Thanks :) 💗

Typically if you are working in a hospital, which you will be for a few years after qualifying, you will be doing 12.5 hour shift 3-4 days a week. It will include weekends. Community shifts are typically from 8 - 6 roughly. And yes it is but you’re in year 12 so I don’t think it would be a thing you need to worry about right now. You’ll see how midwives make it work 💕

Hi Louisa. I really want to become a midwife but I’m afraid I might not get the points to get into the university (the points are so high for a lot of universities). What do u do if u don’t get the points? Is there any alternatives?

Hi, it depends on what university you are applying to. Some of universities entrance requirements aren’t as high as others, so look at where you are applying to if you really don’t think you’re going to get the grades you need 😀
