    is it true that midwifery lessons are moving mainly back to kingston instead of st.georges? Will there still be a sharing of campuses or will there only be one?

    • @BeingLouisa
      @BeingLouisa  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not sure about the sharing of campuses but they definitely have moved mostly over to Kingston now. The lectures even moved their offices to Kingston Hill

    Hey! I've been loving your channel recently, it has been so helpful throughout my process of applying to study midwifery!
    May I ask, how do you overall feel about your course at Kingston, like the quality of teaching, support, and facilities? would you recommend it and would you choose it again? I have offers from Uni of Kingston & Uni of Surrey but really conflicted about which to choose as they both have pros and cons - and sadly I can't look around the unis in person because of COVID! Thank you xxx

    • @BeingLouisa
      @BeingLouisa  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey, thank you! I’m so happy the videos have been helpful!
      That’s a challenging question as every module is taught differently, however, you will always have someone you can talk to to get advise on an assignment or exam. The lecturers can be really helpful both inside and outside of class. I probably would choose Kingston all over again. Plus, they are now moving the majority of teaching back over to the Kingston campus so it might even be better for skills training. I hope that’s helpful xx

    Hi! I’m starting a midwifery course this September which I’m super excited about but I have always wanted to go travelling, I was planning to save over the next three years and once qualified take a year gap before I start work, is this a viable plan or would it be best to start work as soon as possible after I’m qualified?

    • @haemmamaduako
      @haemmamaduako 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Katy Dewar, what A Levels did you choose to do in Sixth Form/ College? Just trying to get an idea of what I should pick x

    • @katydewar4912
      @katydewar4912 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haemma Maduako hi! I’m from Scotland so I done Highers and advanced highers over S5 and S6 while I was at school. I took human biology, English, religious, moral and philosophical studies(RMPS), health and food technology (HFT), health and social care (through the YASS module),physical education and business management and a few more but those are the ones that helped me most for midwifery

    • @lola1361
      @lola1361 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haemma Maduako heya! Sorry to hijack but honestly look at what unis are asking for as some don’t take certain alevels x
      I took biology, history and Spanish which was good for York, UEA, Nottingham, Southampton, Chester and Surrey (these were what I looked into). I believe most unis just want biology or something similar (such as health and social etc) ❤️ good luck on your journey.

      It depends on how confident you are in your skill knowledge after the 3 years and if you think you will be okay to take a year off. I personally wouldn’t be able to but that’s because I work best with a routine!

    Why do you wear the gloves in the mornings?

    • @BeingLouisa

      Because I have strange hands that sometimes feel as if I carpal tunnel syndrome and they help

    Hey, I got an offer at south bank do you suggest that I prepare some learning beforehand like basic knowledge for instance the female reproductive system or do you think I should use this time to relax

    • @BeingLouisa
      @BeingLouisa  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s totally up to you as I’m not sure what they teach you there in first year. If you want to probably you could go over basic anatomy and physiology a couple of weeks before uni starts so that it doesn’t completely confuse you in lectures

    HI! just came across your video from nurses.co.uk. I wanted just to ask a question, do you have adult nurse working in maternity ward? I know that an adult nurse can work in neonatal, so I was wondering if midwives and nurses work together in maternity setting. Thank you in advance and love your video, good luck for your 3rd year.

    • @BeingLouisa
      @BeingLouisa  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, no I’m afraid we don’t work with adult nurses

  • @khadreannasmith2270

    Hey out of no where I’ve found fascination towards midwifery and might study or next year . Did you do placement in first and second year and do you do placement throughout the entire academic year or for a few weeks ?

    • @BeingLouisa
      @BeingLouisa  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you do placement in first and second year. I have some videos on my channel you can watch from my first and second year. And every university does their midwifery course differently. Some will have placement and university in the same week, whereas my university has blocks of placement and uni. So a couple of weeks at uni and then 3-6 weeks on placement

  • @evet2306
    @evet2306 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Okay- I’m honestly so late to this video but I’m super confused on what to do and am wanting to do midwifery. How many days a week does a midwife work?

    • @BeingLouisa
      @BeingLouisa  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends. You will do either 3-4 long days on the ward which is 12.5 hours or 4 10 hour shifts in community

  • @s.h4988
    @s.h4988 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    How many days a week do you have to go on placement

    • @BeingLouisa
      @BeingLouisa  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If doing 12.5 hour hospital shifts then 3 days a week, sometimes 4 days. And then in community it’s 4 days a week

    How long does it take before you become a fully qualified midwife x

    • @BeingLouisa
      @BeingLouisa  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s a 3 year degree here in the UK. However, if someone is a nurse then it is an 18 month course
