    Wish they would do a firmware update to remove this on the X-T4, I film weddings and 30 minutes just isn't enough.

    One of the biggest reasons I switched from XT2 to the XT4 was the record limit. On the XT2, it was 15 minutes and only 10 minutes for 4k. Also the XT2 made separate clips every 4gb. It was really annoying to deal with this. Sure I could have bought an external recorder and bypassed this but I didn't want to have all that just for a once in a while TH-cam video. So I got the XT4 that solved all that. It's so much better, made my life easier. But now the file sizes are massive 😂

    • @ScottDawson
      @ScottDawson  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hear you on the file sizes. Recording 4k takes up a ton of space.

    Thanks for this video. It suited my needs perfectly. And I have a problem that maybe you also had and solved. I have Atem Mini Pro ISO which has the ability to write to the connected SSD drive, only that both my X-T3 and X-T4 bodies only transmit a 1080 signal when I switch them to 4K to the HDMI output, Atem does not show the image and the Fuji screens have the inscription "Device not compatible with current 4K settings". I tested on various cables that with other devices release a 4K signal from Fuji. I can't find a solution anywhere. Both Fuji and Atem have the latest firmware. And Happy New Year! 🙂

      The ATEM Mini Iso’s are “only” 1080p devices. They don’t receive nor record 4k.

    • @Finn-pe7uj
      @Finn-pe7uj ปีที่แล้ว

      The problem is recording multiple 4k inputs on to a single SSD would be an ENORMOUS amount of data coming in.
      Record directly onto a card in the camera or use a 4k capture device before going to the Atem Mini.
      Thankfully you have the ISO model, so you can record a 1080p and use the 4k you recorded (^that I just mentioned) to substitute the footage, but keep all your live switches and edits.

    This taxation issue has long been resolved, camera makers unlikely to update the older models to enable >30mins recording due to marketing. They don't want to cannibalise their newer model that do not has this issue.

    why can't camera companies just set a record limit when they are shipping to different countries and after purchasing, user can upgrade the software to remove the time limit. 😋

    • @KiR_3d
      @KiR_3d ปีที่แล้ว

      IMO it's just a conspiracy. First guys get taxes, 2nd guys set bigger prices for not so much more advanced cameras.
      Did you've knew that 40Mp resolution in Fuji APS-C matrices isn't real actually? They just need some improvements which can't be done that easily every year... But you easily can rise up (or remove and call it vlog camera ))) ) limits for every next camera, make "AI"-improvements )) A lot of pure marketing stinky substances.

    Yeah, I am hindered by it :-S. I mostly do audio recordings of live concerts and music exams and so on. More and more people would love video with that and most of those are more than 30 min... Until now Iv been able to borrow some basic video cameras(Zoom Q8) but that camera has terrible video when the lighting is anywhere less than spot on perfect... Any fancy stage light and the video is terrible. I love the image quality of the X-T4 so stupid that its recording limited. Especially when supposedly that EU tax limit was supposed to be started to be phased out during the summer of 2019.........
    And buying an Atomos Ninja V is kinda stupid for me, a lot of money for a LOT of pro features I wont ever need in my usecase....
    Also since I use a desktop pc and not a laptop, dragging that with all its equipment is also not really practical...

    another way to bypass this is a hack firmware, the recording time is in the firmware and if you know how to program you can edit the firmware and update it with the one you edited.
    now i know what your going to say don't trust a hacked firmware it could cause a crash but it's not a big deal if it's done correctly it won't crash, in fact in the firmware there is a location for the recording time and 29.59 in the firmware all you have to do is change that number to 0.0.0.0 and it's unlimited nothing else changes so there is no reason the firmware is a risk.
    Pretty simple and easy..

      @@ScottDawson well you would need to find a firmware that is hacked download it like you would download a firmware update from the manufacture site, only your getting it from who ever hacked it.
      Then you apply the firmware the same way you would if you got it from the camera manufacture website update area..
      NOW what you want to do is find a hack firmware that is the latest firmware that was hacked so you got the latest firmware only hacked version.
      Now another way is to do it yourself, download the latest firmware from the website copy it to your computer, and you can find a binary editor on the internet and edit the firmware you downloaded, using the binary editor, now you got to be careful with this because binary is numbers that you would change and you have to change the numbers in the correct location, so the part that tells the camera time to stop recording you would need to change it to 0 so it will just keep recording or you could put something crazy like 9999 minutes that would be ok because your not going to ever record more then 9,999 minutes of footage that is over 166 hours and you would run out of space on your media card before it reaches that..
      But 0000 works the best.. They are documentation and instructions on where to edit this firmware it will say what line and row to edit and what to put there but again be careful because if you get off by one space it will crash your camera and you will have to send it in to the manufacture to re-burn the chip..
      Best bet is to download a copy of the firmware already hacked for this..
      for example there is a hacked firmware for the old canon called Magic Lantern it gives ability that the camera has that was not allowed unless you updated the firmware with the hack version..
      www.magiclantern.fm/
      Here is a site about hacks and how to go about it..
      www.digitaltrends.com/photography/camera-firmware-hacks/
      Oh yeah and here is what a firmware looks like inside..
      chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=6484.0
      Also here is where you can get a hex editor..
      www.wxhexeditor.org/
      Also be aware, that if something happens to your camera where you have to send it in to the manufacture be sure to take off the hacked firmware and put the original back on the camera because if you don't the manufacture doesn't like that you use a hacked firmware and will void your warranty in a heartbeat if you use a hacked firmware...
      as a matter of fact in the terms in service of most camera manufactures state that you agree not to hack or alter the camera in any way and if you get caught doing it they Can and will VOID your warranty on that camera and any other camera you register with them past present and future so you will be black listed..
      Not all Camera manufactures do that, but i know NIKON and SONY are 2 companies that hate hackers and will black list you if they catch you.
      Not sure about fujifilm.. I would assume they are strict too but you never know.
